Adrian stared at the narrow back that was sleeping with its back to him with a meaningful gaze. He sighed softly. It had been a week, yes, during that time his wife had continued to stay by his side. The woman refused to talk because she still didn't want them to go to Korea. Her words at the hospital the other day apparently didn't change his determination not to go to that country. He still didn't want to take his wife there. At least, until he was really ready.
The man supported his head with one hand below. He stared at the ceiling of his room which was the color of wood. There were many things in his life that he actually couldn't express just like that. Too many that he couldn't put each event in order, even though he remembered it very well.
Indah.
Adrian looked back at his wife again. It had been three days since the woman was allowed to go home by Marcus. The cast that wrapped her leg had also been removed. But the woman never gave in. Indah still insisted on going to Korea. Even since then Adrian was no longer allowed to sleep beside her at night. Only now, Indah was still kind enough to allow him to sleep beside her, of course in a position that Adrian didn't like. The woman had turned her back on him for three nights. Indah didn't let him see her sleeping face.
For some time now, Adrian felt restless if he didn't see his wife's face. Since their fight the other day, Indah really proved her words. The woman was angry. Indah became a person who was stingy with words and had a gloomy face. There was no more sparkle in the girl's eyes. In an instant, Indah had changed her life a lot.
Adrian changed his position. Slowly he stretched his arms to hug his wife's waist from behind. Maybe Indah never knew what her husband did every night. The woman enjoyed her dreams too much that she didn't realize what Adrian did when she slept at night. The man buried his face in the gap of his wife's neck. He brought her petite body closer to him and pressed Indah's narrow back against his chest. The scent that emanated from the woman's body was not the scent of expensive perfume, like the ones usually used by women in general, and it wasn't a lotion either. Just the scent of cheap soap and shampoo.
Adrian knew very well how his wife dressed up. Indah did not have expensive clothes, makeup, or knick-knacks like women living in this day and age. Her clothes were also very simple, not reflecting that she had married into a conglomerate family. Indah, the woman lived in her simplicity. Adrian realized that maybe at the beginning Rama chose Indah because of everything he saw now.
There was a slight feeling that pinched his heart. For some reason he didn't like remembering Rama. That man was present in Indah's life first, that was what always accompanied the end of his memory. He didn't like knowing the fact that Indah was originally his brother's bride. If only Rama had not left Indah, maybe the woman sleeping in his arms would not be in the same bed as him. Maybe Indah was enjoying the beauty of her marriage with Rama.
While with him, Indah might force herself to adjust. It's not easy to marry a stranger, especially a man who is actually a brother-in-law. Who knows what kind of shame Indah has received. Adrian realized that he was not an option. He was just a backup. But Adrian did not feel regret. At least besides saving his family from shame, he could also experience another life by becoming Indah's husband. There were many things he didn't know all this time. His life was too monotonous and colorless. Every night when he came home, no one ever greeted him like Indah did.
Sweet.
Adrian hated sweetness, but he liked this one.
Unconsciously a smile formed on his lips. Remembering his status, a husband, he was a little embarrassed. But not a truly embarrassing shame. He knew this feeling had never existed before, but it could really make him act awkwardly. Maybe if he would have known it would end up like this, he would have taken Indah and married her first.
Instead of the word "Like", from now on he would use the right word to describe it. The word "like" alone was not enough to describe the feeling that made his heart swell.
Maybe love...
...
Indah slowly opened her eyes. The dim light blocked by the window curtains made her feel a little stuffy. The sound of birds chirping echoing into her room became a special alarm every morning. But for some reason she felt something was odd. Her body felt stiff to move.
Her gaze fell to her stomach. A hand that belonged to no one was wrapped around her. This was unusual. She had never woken up in a state like this. Moreover, she realized that this was the room she usually occupied.
Adrian? That man?
Indah slowly turned her head back a little. Her sideways position made it a little difficult for her to look back. When his eyes answered all her questions, her eyes widened. Behind her was Adrian's face very close to hers. The man's eyes were closed and his breathing sounded regular. Indah almost lost her breath when she felt the warm air hit the skin behind her ear. She was really embarrassed now.
Indah quickly repositioned her face and chose to close her eyes when she felt the movement of the man. In the dark, she felt the hand that had previously hugged her waist possessively no longer weighing her down. There was a slight feeling of disappointment in feeling that. Even though if she was honest, she liked the hand on her waist. She liked it when the man was close to her.
"Indah.." Adrian called in his hoarse voice.
Oh my gosh.. didn't Adrian know that the woman was holding back her shame. Indah's eyelids were closed very tightly. She didn't want to wake up now. If she did, then she was finished.
"Indah.." Adrian shook the woman's shoulder a little. It was unusual for the woman to wake up at this hour. He glanced at the clock on the nightstand next to his bed. Eight o'clock. Adrian thought it was too late for Indah, who usually woke up earlier than him.
Adrian was silent once again. He waited for the woman to wake up. But it seemed like there was no sign of her waking up. Maybe she was tired, Adrian thought. Slowly, Adrian got up from his bed. He let his wife enjoy her dream. Maybe a beautiful dream there. Quite enjoyable than marrying a man like him.
For a moment Adrian smiled bitterly. Besides being a jerk, it turned out that he was also a bastard who couldn't make his wife happy. He was too evil for Indah as his wife.
Adrian walked around the bed, precisely towards the side where his wife was sleeping. He brought his face closer to his wife's face.
"I'm sorry, Indah. You have to marry a jerk like me." He whispered before Adrian finally landed a good morning kiss between Indah's hair. His wife... maybe with the decision he had made, Adrian could show a little of his intentions for her.
"You know..." Adrian whispered something in his wife's ear. "I think going to Korea isn't a bad thing. I hope after you wake up, you'll smile at me again."
GREP
Adrian hadn't even moved an inch away from his wife's body, when suddenly he was surprised by his wife's movement who immediately hugged his neck. "Really? We're going?"
Indah squealed happily while hugging her husband's neck. Her smile was so wide that it almost pierced her cheeks.
Adrian, who was still surprised, nodded his head hesitantly. Not long after, Indah let go of her husband's body. Her eyes now looked at the man with a sparkle of happiness. The smile that Adrian had wanted was finally visible, even very beautiful in Adrian's eyes.
"Really?" Indah asked again. The woman couldn't hold back her joy.
"Gosh, you. Yes, yes. We're going to Korea."
Adrian then shook his head again at his wife's behavior. Indah jumped happily on the bed while screaming loudly. If only their room wasn't soundproof, maybe the whole house would have been here.
"AAAAAAA....Koreaaaa! Beach, padlock, aaaaaaaaaaaa....I've wanted to go there for a long time. Thank you, my husband. If this continues, I will follow you until I die." Indah reflexively hugged her husband who was standing lower than her. Adrian who saw his wife's action rolled his eyes lazily then laughed out loud because his wife screamed again like a crazy person.
