Chapter 5 - Back to school

The night finally arrives at the lands of Philippus. The lanterns, which are enchanted with UV rays, are now shining throughout every city, town, village, house, street, and even church. One particular church in the village of Liones has its priestess shocked by Phyxius's sudden announcement.

"Haahh??!!! Phyxius, are you aware of what you're talking about right now?" Rosillia stood up from her chair and yelled in disbelief. "Changing one's profession means that you will be rebuking your application for becoming one of the prestigious Radiant Knights. I even heard from one of my close friends, a first-class Radiant Knight General, that she would take you as her apprentice." Phyxius just stayed silent while listening to the priestess preach, unwavering with his resolve to change his profession. "You would also need to go back to the academy to complete two years of studying there and pass another final exam before graduating again!" After saying her spiel to Phyxius, Rosilla sat back and took a sigh. "Look, I know that you feel a lot of hatred and grief in your heart because I also lost my parents at an earlier age from the demons. I also know that loneliness comes with a different kind of pain, especially if your mind is clouded with grief from losing your family. So please think things through and don't make any rush decisions that you will regret in the future."

Phyxius eyes sharpen while looking straight at Rosillia. He then throws a badge at her, and she catches it. "Do you know what is that badge for?" She was dumbfounded at his question. "Of course I do. Isn't this the badge you get when you qualify as Count's Etherious soldier?" She replied. "Exactly! Can you guess where I got this from?" Confused about where their conversation is leading, she asks, "Where then?" Phyxius responded immediately. "From one of the demons that attacked us." This revelation made Rosillia gasp for air. "Are use sure about this? The demon could have just picked it up from somewhere. I mean, this is really big! It's like you're accusing Count Etherious of murdering your family!" Phyxius took back the badge and hid it in one of his pockets. "That's why I need to change my profession and I would need to accomplish 3 main objectives while attending the academy. First is to get inside the library of shadowy arts. To learn the skills that I will be using for my investigation. Second, while studying there, I would need to investigate Count Etherious's manor, which is about a kilometer away from the academy, and third, I would to graduate at the top of my class to meet the king and, of course, report everything that has transpired and ask to kill Count Etherious myself. I would need to do all of this within a year."

Rosilla could not believe what she just heard. This carefully thought-out plan seems to be impossible to do within a year. Especially the part where he would graduate top of his class. How could Phyxius do it when he was actually the second to the last in ranking when he graduated as a swordsman, which was considered the profession that he had the highest affinity with? "Phyxius, I know you are a talented young man, but I just don't think you have that kind of talent who could rank first in his class. I mean, come on, you couldn't even raise your rank in the top 100 when there were only a hundred and two students in your class when you graduated." Then the air around them suddenly gets hotter. Mana was now gathering at Phyxius's body until it stopped and aura was now exuding from his body.

Rosillia was doubting what she was seeing right now, incredulous at the fact that a sixteen-year-old young man had mastered aura. It's something to marvel at since the only known aura users are mostly on the second and first-class jobs. Those people are considered as super humans and they are all at the age of late forties to early sixties. So it was a jaw-dropping sight to see for Rosilla. "How were you able to hide the fact that you're an aura user?" Phyxius shrugs it off. "Well, I have my own ways, and I had to because I don't want to be sought out and be used in politics by the leaders of our own nation than endanger my family." After explaining this to her, Phyxius deactivated his aura, as he saw Rosillia was having a hard time dealing with it. "Thank you so much for deactivating it. I was having a hard time breathing. Yes, I do agree with what you've just said. I guess there's no stopping you then huh?"

Now convinced of his plans, Rosillia then handed him a ring. "I've watched you grow from a wimp to this ripped handsome young man. You're like a son to me now. This ring will activate instantly once it detects that your heart has stopped beating. It will restore your body from any abnormal state. It would grow back any severed parts of your body even if your head gets cut off. So wear this all the time because it will definitely save you one day." Rosillia hugged him tightly like it would be the last time that she would see him again. "Thank you so much, Rosillia; you've always helped our family, even when I was just a little kid; it's the same reason why I trust you so much." Phyxius hugged her back for a few seconds and pulled away. "I'll be going now since I have a lot of things that I would need to prepare." Before he could leave, Rosillia handed him an envelope sealed with her signature. "Bring this with you and show it to the guards on the warp gate; they would know what to do with it. Just follow their instructions, and you will be able to avoid any hassle with the academy registrations." Phyxius nods and thanks Rosillia one more time before leaving the place.

A few days have passed by, and Phyxius is now at the front of the warp gate connected to the academy. He has prepared well and has reaffirmed himself once again to face all the challenges that he will be facing inside the academy. "Well, I think it's time for me to go. This time I'll be sure to go all out! So, Dawn Academy, you better be ready because a typhoon is coming!"
