Chapter 29 - Great White Aquarium

Y/n froze, their mass halting its fidgeting. The sound of Megatron's steps echoed in the brig, heavy and deliberate. His massive frame cast a long shadow over Y/n, who couldn't help but glance up, heart pounding.

Y/n: Decided... what?

Megatron's optics bore into Y/n's, unreadable but intense.

Megatron: You are too valuable to risk on either side of this war. I cannot allow the Autobots to get you.

He leaned closer, his voice dropping to a dangerous whisper.

Megatron: I will place you in a containment unit... designed specifically for you that Soundwave has made. You will remain there until the war is over until I can decide whether to trust you.

Y/n felt a sinking sensation. This wasn't the reunion they had imagined when they thought of confronting Megatron about Primus. It was a prison. A way to control them.

Y/n: You... you can't just lock me away like that! I'm not a weapon for you to hide when it's convenient!

Megatron straightened up, his cold demeanor returning.

Megatron: You may have forgotten your place, Y/n. But I have not. If there's even a chance that you hold the power of Primus, I will not let it fall into the Autobot's hands or otherwise.

He turned away, motioning for a pair of Decepticons to enter the brig. They stepped forward, their optics fixed on Y/n.

Megatron: Prepare the container.

Y/n felt a mixture of anger and fear bubbling within them, their form trembling as they tried to process Megatron's decision. This wasn't about friendship, or loyalty. It was about control.

Y/n: Megatron... I thought we were in this together.

Megatron paused, his back still to Y/n.

Megatron: I once thought the same. But this... this is bigger than either of us.

Without another word, he left the brig, leaving Y/n alone with their thoughts and the Decepticons who were ready to seal them away.

Y/n: Maybe he's right... or maybe I need to show him just how wrong he is...

*Timeskip*

Y/n was put into the chamber and sealed inside. He could only look around as their body convulsed from trying not to laugh.

Y/n: Soundwave you gentle, quiet, mech~

Y/n looked around the massive glass chamber held in the middle of a room. It had race cars, plushies, weapons of various kinds, and plenty of other things to keep me entertained.

Y/n: Pffftt.....

Megatron only sighed, he did expect Soundwave not to make it cruel.... but not absolutely gentle and caring for Y/n. It was ridiculous the amount of things that were in the glass chamber, like a massive child play area that the humans make for infants.

Megatron's optics narrowed as he observed the chamber from the control room. The amount of care Soundwave had put into Y/n's containment was unexpected, bordering on indulgent. It wasn't meant to be a playground; it was supposed to be a precaution.

Megatron: Soundwave... you've gone soft.

Soundwave, who stood at Megatron's side, didn't react outwardly, but the faintest hum of approval reverberated through his frame. His loyalty to Megatron was unwavering, but it seemed that when it came to Y/n, Soundwave had his own silent opinions.

Back in the chamber, Y/n's laughter finally bubbled out. They fell into one of the plushies, hugging it to their chest while gazing at the collection of items that, oddly enough, felt more like gifts than restraints.

Y/n: Primus, this is unreal...

They ran their hand over one of the weapons, a custom-designed blade that gleamed under the chamber's lights. Not sure whether to play with it awhile, or eat it.

Y/n: Maybe I should thank Soundwave later...

Despite the amusement, Y/n's mind still circled around the bigger issue. They were stuck. Even if they weren't in a typical prison cell, they were still imprisoned. Megatron had placed them here out of fear, not out of trust or camaraderie.

Y/n: He thinks he can control me... But I won't stay hidden forever.

Determination settled in Y/n's core. They were going to use this time to their advantage, to think, plan, and when the moment was right... remind Megatron and everyone else that they were not to be underestimated. They were a idiot without limits

Meanwhile, Megatron turned to leave the control room, a hint of frustration in his voice.

Megatron: Keep an optic on them. I want to be informed of any changes.

Soundwave: Affirmative.

As Megatron's heavy footsteps faded down the hallway, Soundwave glanced at Y/n through the observation screen. He watched as they inspected the various items in the chamber, their movements calculated yet calm.

For the first time in a long while, Soundwave found himself wondering if Megatron had truly underestimated Y/n.

*Timeskip*

Soundwave was now in the room, staring at Y/n through the glass as they chatted.

Y/n: Are you sure you can't let me out for a little bit~

Soundwave: Negative

Y/n: Awwwww. Well thanks anyway you big softie.

Soundwave looked away for a bit before looking back at Y/n. It was only a matter of time before Y/n got bored and did something that could get Megatron to kill them. He had to make sure Y/n was entertained enough to not do something stupid.

Y/n leaned against the glass, watching Soundwave carefully. They knew how serious he was about following Megatron's orders, but something told them there was more going on behind that visor.

Y/n: You know... I could just bust out of here. It wouldn't be too hard.

Soundwave tilted his head slightly, his visor flashing as if analyzing Y/n's words.

Soundwave: Illogical.

Y/n smirked, enjoying the challenge.

Y/n: Maybe. But you're not here just to watch me, are you? You're worried.

There was a long pause before Soundwave responded, his voice as steady as ever.

Soundwave: Monitoring... imperative.

Y/n: For Megatron or for me?

For a brief moment, Soundwave's visor flickered, almost like a spark of emotion. It was subtle, but Y/n caught it. They could feel the tension in the air, the unspoken conflict within Soundwave. Despite his loyalty to Megatron, Y/n knew he cared in his own silent way.

Y/n: I don't want to be locked up forever, Soundwave. I have things to do, and I'm not one to sit still. You know that.

They walked closer to the glass, leaning in slightly.

Y/n: But I'll play nice… for now. Just make sure I don't live in here, alright?

Soundwave didn't respond verbally, but his visor dimmed for a moment before he turned to leave. As the door closed behind him, Y/n felt the weight of their situation press down again.

Y/n: *sighs* Well, this'll get interesting fast.

Y/n plopped back onto the plushies, eyeing the various weapons scattered around. There had to be a way to make the most of this time. They weren't the kind of person to just sit idle, after all.

Y/n: Time to stir up some chaos... just enough to remind them who they're dealing with.

And so, Y/n began to think of ways to push the limits of their containment, curious to see how far they could go before Megatron or Soundwave would intervene. It was going to be a game of patience, but Y/n was ready to play.
