Chapter 1 - Nothing to everything-Prolouge

There was nothing but darkness. The world did not yet exist. Creation was nothing but an unfathomable thought to no one.

Yet one day, an unexplainable occurrence happened. A simple paradox appeared creating the gods.

That leads to the question of who created this said powerful being? You can't simply create nothing from nothing.

So if a being so powerful as this came to be then wouldn't that mean there had to be something else before? Something far greater to create some who can create something out of nothing?

This paradox is nothing but the truth we must accept in our world.

An infinite cycle of beings of great power being created in order to balance the scales of logic. Sometimes we have no other choice but to accept truths we may despise.

The gods don't make other gods, the Paradox does. It itself is both nothing and everything at once. Something unexplainable that is able to go against all logic and reasoning.

Paradox floated through the empty void. Its metal body humming quietly with a whir. There is no capability to understand what was being processed in its cold metal head. The eyes of the metallic behemoth began to glow; lit up with life.

The pipes that protrude from its enormous cylindrical metal body exhausted steam as it whirred loudly. The gates centered on its thoracic cavity exploded open. The darkness inside glowed brightly.

It can't be explained how this came to flourishion, but information began to pour out of it. It slowly began to set the building blocks of this world, and all the rules everything must follow. Its huge metal body began to drag itself through the empty space it had just created.

Yet inside Paradox knew so much more could be done. They had sent it here to create. It must please them with its work.

Paradox drifted a while unmoving thinking about what it could possibly do to fill up this space. It then thought about Them. They always sent it and others to create for them while they oversaw.

What if it could do the same? What if Paradox could create a being to create for it while regulated?

Paradox opened its gates again. It began to whir and creak as more and more, as hot steam blew and singed the pipes of which they came. The whirring grew into loud metallic screeches as it stuck its long metallic arm into its thoracic cavity.

A black substance began to ooze out as it pulled out two beings from its gates. The gates in its chest quickly shut as the whirring came to a silence. It looked down at the two beings it had made. Both were of humanoid form.

One was covered in thick platelets of stone and metal. His face was of stone with two concave holes aligned to the center of its face. His arms at the end had sharp claw-like appendages. Blood flowed in between the cracks of his stone body. He opened his eyes revealing small circles of yellow. Paradox proud of itself labeled its child as Vileant. He was to be the chaos and destruction to balance his brother, which it had named Beudel.

Buedel was also humanoid, although its body was made of a different substance. He was made of flesh. His skin was smooth with a hint of green in its color. His hair was long with stars that littered his blond locks. His eyes were a piercing emerald green. His body was lean with his veins able to be seen through his skin as dark green maze-like structures that flowed his very essence throughout his body. The upper left half of his face is covered by a green sleek metallic mask.

He was the embodiment of beauty. No one, not even Paradox, was able to look at him without awe. Everyone except Vileant. Already at their creations they were the drastic opposites of each other. Buedel had been created and pacified; while his brother was created to destroy and cause discord.

Vileant despised his brother; much to the disappointment of their mother who wanted them to get along. In the rivalry between the two brothers, Vileant made it his mission to always outclass Beudel in everything.

Vileant created the fiery pit of the underworld, a land of never ending grueling heat. The very ground of the underworld would cause the feet of any mortal man to blister and bleed.

Since the creation of the underworld it was nothing, but a method of torture. The seething ground was only complemented by the endless sea and river of magma. It was a doeslant land with little to no flavor. It was a manifestation of his nature. His essence yelling to cause pain and suffering to others. It really was a place befitting of its name.

Buedel created heaven, a land of pure joy. It was an endless sea of green grass and flowers. The atmosphere it let out nullified any sorts of negative emotions.

Anyone who set foot would be washed with a wave of tranquility and peace. On the highest hill of heaven laid the castle of Bueldel. It was an infinitely expanding building.

It was made to accommodate everyone who entered. Each room was personalized for every person who entered its doors.

Both of these places were separate from the world of the gods, a land where all the gods lived in a form of civilization. Its buildings rose high. They were made of marble like yellow stone.

The clouds in the sky were artificially created by Paradox, who sat in the center of the town producing more and more gods to populate land. Ground was made of golden bricks creating roads for the gods to navigate and follow throughout the city.

Vileant pure nature of destruction when compared to Buedel pure presence of peace always clashed.

The other gods were always fixated on Buedel prowess and beauty of his creations.

Vileant felt nothing but envy in his heart. He was unable to understand why the other gods feared his creations. To him, his creations were the embodiment of his love and understanding. It broke him to see no one to appreciate his hard work and persistence to create. He even shaped and sculpted more of the underworld creating intricate layers and formations.

As Vileant walked through the underworld, he gazed past the mountains of pure magma and fire.

The heat radiated by fire melted the nearby stone and minerals causing a never ending expansion of pure lava to overflow his land of chaos.

To the other gods they viewed Vileant as a god with no ambition to expand on what they together created. Vileant had heard of a new project that his brother and the other gods were planning. He couldn't help but feel ostracized from his peers.

His own brother, his flesh and blood, refused to let him in on the biggest form of creation ever done by the gods. The creation of life.

The only form of life ever made before was by the never ending paradox that created the gods. The gods had devised a plan by observing this paradox.

As they watched it worked they noticed the creations of strings that appeared from nothing during the creation of a new god. The strings of energy then clumped together forming a bigger spherical shape they labeled as Quarks.

Those clumped together into protons, neutrons, and electrons. And after a long process, life was born. That was the first time the Paradox had ever been viewed by the gods.

They thanked it for all its glory and wisdom.

The Paradox had blessed the gods with knowledge that had created them and they were ready to use it to create their own pawns to play with; just as the Paradox had done with them. Create life that could enjoy the gift of living just as they had.

Vileant was angered to learn the truth by over hearing god's talk in their sanctuary. They all learned the secret of creation.

All but him.

His envy and spite against his brother exceeded any seen at that point of time. He sat on his throne in the underworld. The only place where he felt wanted. His underworld was his creation. And only his creation wanted him. If the creations of other beings wouldn't want him, he would create life himself.

When everyone was distracted at the meeting about modeling these creatures. These Humans of theirs, Vileant left to meet with Paradox.

There he stood in front of it waiting for it to answer him.

He then watched as it opened its doors. All he could see was a vast emptiness; a vacuum of nothing. He watched closely waiting for something to happen.

He suddenly saw a string appear from nothing as it floated and glided in Paradox. He was confused at first, before he finally understood. It was as if a wave of information was coded directly into him by Paradox.

He quickly left short after; a new sense of enlightenment coursing through his veins.

Vileant was happy for the first time.

Today was the day he could finally match his brother.

He didn't waste any time, beginning his work almost immediately. He began to weave and mold his creations, but unlike his brother his pure being of chaos never let him think of anything except destruction. Everything he made was distorted and cruel.

He invited a few gods to see his creation and they left mortified; begging him to destroy all that he has made.

Vileant was angry.

He had finally done something to make him an equal to his brother if not greater, but yet he was still rejected. And that's when he found them.

He looked down at the planet that his brother and the gods had created together. Each god created their own creature, but one caught his eye. These beings radiated the energy of his brother.

He watched them interact.

This was it.

Buedel's most prized possession.

He quickly picked one out of earth and took him into his domain. He set the man down on the floor and began to slowly tear him limb from limb. He examined their structures engraving every detail in his mind.

Something else had caught his eye. When he had stripped the creature of his skin he noticed a strange glowing organ inside of it. It did not take Vileant very long to know that his brother had blessed the bastard with a fragment of his power.

He immediately pulled it out of its body as it released a gut wrenching scream as Vileant's dirty black claws shredded through his muscle and bone to pull it out.

Vileant held this organ to his face.

He noticed its distinct shape; with many valves and vessels that seemed to connect to the rest of its body. It was a heart.

Buedel created all these creatures with a heart imbued with his blessing. Although based on what Vileant could manage, after dissecting the heart, this blessing laid dormant in them.

Vileant finished his examination. It was time for his plan to come into fruition. He began to shape and mold an exact copy of Buedels perfect creatures.

He then decided to give them a blessing of his own. The blessing of a never ending hunger. A hunger that could only be satisfied by blood. The curse of the dévourer. With their blessing they could eat Buedel's creations in order to use their power against them.

Vileant quickly released them into the world, happy with his work.

It did not take long for Buedel to take notice of the chaos left behind from Vileant. He quickly activated the dormant blessing he called The Holder.

Buedels creations held the power of their creator in their hands, and managed to fight back against what they labeled as the dévourers. Consequently, the ability to use Buedels blessing transferred over to the dévourers once they consumed the heart.

The battle echoed across the universe as the two factions fought for the name of their creator bringing an age of darkness to the world.

This once peaceful paradise that Beudel had once imagined for his people had been reduced to nothing but a cemetery. Vileant was pleased by his precious dévourers.

The pure anguish that Buedel felt seeing his hard work crumble before his eyes fed Vileant's ambition to destroy the very essence of his brother.

The other gods had finally had enough of standing around, and watching their great leader's work incinerate into ash.

They began to work together and create their own sub species of what Buedel called humans. Together these gods created what they labeled as the Elves, the Beastmen, and the dragonkin.

The Elves were blessed by the gods with their wisdom.

Their overwhelming intelligence allowed them to act as strategists in the battlefield. With this innate ability to discern the right move from the wrong had put the Holders in the advantage.

They were molded to not only have immense intelligence, but a keen eye sight as well. They became master marksmen; standing in the back of the front lines they decimated countless dévourers by piercing them with their arrows.

The beastmen were hybrids of humans and other creatures that the gods created. Each one had the tenacity of humans and the strength of each creature they were imbued with.

This gave them immense flexibility in the battlefield increasing their stamina and strength.

They fought in the front lines along with the humans. Despite lacking the blessing of the holder, they managed to keep up with the holders as they surprised the gods by creating blessings of their own that they created with the elves. They labeled it as magic.

This magic was only able to be used by those without a blessing allowing them to gain the upper hand against those who did.

They showed all the gods that the power in the world they created was limitless. As many beastmen grew even stronger than the holders, imbuing their bodies with magic to gain strength that allowed them to decimate entire mountains in a single strike of their fist.

The Dragonkin were the strongest of the three subraces physically. They all refused to use the magic that the Beastmen and Elves had created, finding it a cheap way to gain power.

These hot headed human dragons shocked the gods with their brutality and raw strength. The gods began to question if these were made by them, or had Vileant secretly influenced their existence. They stopped at nothing to reach their goals.

They tore through their own allies that denied them access to the fight against the dévourers.

Their impenetrable scales allowed them to absorb anything that tried to slice or pierce them. Their lungs had been modified by the gods filling it with a thick fluid.

This fluid in their lungs was heated by their breathing exposing it to oxygen. The oxygen reacted to the fluid and heat causing it to combust sending a wave of fire out of their lungs through their mouths.

With these 3 races able to help the Holders, Buedel managed to push back his brother. Vileant had enough.

He wasn't going to allow his brother to outshine him again. In his utter frustration, Vileant decided to end this war against his brother and the other gods. He descended onto earth.

All the gods had collectively agreed to not physically interfere with the war with their presence, yet Vileant committed the greatest taboo.

These mere mortals were unable to stand against the prowess and strength of the second born god. He ripped them apart with his claws as the dévourers cheered for their creator. Buedel couldn't stand there and watch.

In a state of false judgment he too descended onto earth to the shock of all the gods. The two strongest gods had descended onto the planet. They had disrupted the balance.

Paradox seized in rage. The balance had been disrupted. No more could it stand back and watch these fools it blessed with life destroy the very timeline it was responsible for.

The realm of the gods rumbled as paradox stood from its static position.

Its metal hinges squeaked and crated as it picked itself up from the ground. Its gates flung open, spilling a void of nothing from it.

It looked down at its children.

Its cold metallic face loomed over them. Its bright yellow eyes glowed on its expressionless unmoving metal face. A loud whirring of a fan was heard as more and more black spilled from it.

It began to eat away at the realm of gods; absorbing it back to the state in which it came from, nothing. Paradox collapsed on its knees as it continued to retract all that had been made by the gods.

Its huge metallic body continued to creak as steam blew out of the pipes on its back. The sea of darkness continued to envelope everything till eventually left nothing in its sight.

Paradox let out a loud whir as it pulled its long lanky rusted steel body to earth.

Vileant and Beudel had already begun their clash. Vileant dug his claws into Buedel as blood poured from Buedel's wound.

Buedel quickly countered with a punch of his own imbued with the power of the universe; cracking Vileants essence as his the area of his stone face that had received the full front of the attack began to shatter.

Vileant roared in anger as blood from his wound covered his face. He quickly striked again with his claw at a blind speed exceeding time itself.

Buedel just as quickly managed to dodge it, hitting him again this time in the chest. Vileant's chest cracked and shriveled as more blood seeped from gash.

Buedel and Vileant both prepared to attack at the same time; when a sudden whir was heard that echoed across the world.

Everything fell motionless.

Nothing was able to move as Paradox descended from the clouds and landed on earth. Its behemoth size towered over the two brothers. More steam protruded from it as it grabbed the two brothers. It stared deep into their eyes.

Paradox didn't want to destroy the reality it had created, but it knew They would not feel the same. It needed to find a way to restore the balance of the timeline.

After a while of quiet thinking it dawned on it. It quickly took Vileant to the underworld that Vileant himself had created. Paradox banished Vileant to rule as Lord of the Underworld.

Paradox then went to heaven with Buedel, the domain Buedel had created himself. It was running out of time.

It knew They would be here at any minute to investigate the disruption of balance. Paradox banished Buedel to Heaven to rule as king.

It assigned them both new roles.

Vileant was allowed to raise an army to help him dictate the Underworld as he saw fit. His domain would be used as a place of punishment for the sinners who went against the laws of peace it set on earth.

Once anything on earth that was considered evil died it would be sent to the Underworld. Vileant wasted no time creating demons to help him rule the Underworld. A few of which were allowed to roam the world to reap the souls of those who sinned.

Buedel had been assigned to help those who he deemed to be of pure heart.

His domain was to be a paradise for those who did no wrong in the world. He was also allowed to raise an army to protect those he deemed of pure heart.

Buedel created creatures named angels.

Some of these angels resembled his first and most proudest creation, Humans, albeit with a massive pair of feathery wings.

The balance had almost been restored.

Although Paradox still felt traces of the gods it had consumed back into nothing. It decided to bless the inhabitants of earth with these traces of power.

The people who had been picked to have this power were labeled as Articants.

Whenever an Articant would die, the trace of godly power they had will find a new host that is yet to be born till six months after the death of the Articant.

Finally Paradox had restored balance. And as it expected, a ball of white light appeared. The mere presence of the light brought paradox to its knees. White light looked at it in disappointment.

"My child," the light said, its voice full of warmth and regret, "I should not have allowed you to produce your own timeline so prematurely. Although it seems like you fixed the problem and I must commend you on that. I will be taking you back now, but I will allow for your creation to stay. You may watch its growth and evolution from afar."

And with that Paradox bright glowing eyes dimmed to darkness.

Its hulky metal body began to decay and dissolve into nothing.

From the center of its chest the gate opened and a smaller ball of light flew out joining the other ball of light. Paradox looked back at its universe. It was saddened at the thought of leaving but had no choice. It looked at the stars one last time taking in the beauty of creation.

It looked at Earth, wishing that they would all live in peace.

Lastly, It thought about the gods. Even if they did disrupt the rules set by them, They were still the life it made.

Paradox glanced at the universe one last time, and with one final whir it faded away.

Leaving us with the world we know today. The world where wealth and power rule. A world where law is placed to hinder the innate nature of violence and sin within its inhabitants. The world of humanity.
