Aside from the faint buzz of the machines, the room was silent. As My head rested against the cold chilly window frame, I stared at the chaos outside. Its jagged edges spilling crimson red light across the horizon while The rift in the sky expanded wider.
The city was alive with battle. powerful mages flying through the air, their mana exploding like fireworks as they fought against giant monsters coming from the rift. It was like watching a war play out in real time, both awesome and terrifying.
I sighed, leaning back against the bed. This wasn't my fight. The best I could do was wait it out and hope the mages take care of things before whatever was out there decided to come inside, and greet me.
The air grew colder, and the faint whistling of the wind seeped through the cracks in the window. I closed my eyes, trying to block out the sounds of destruction.
Then, a sudden crash jogged me upright.
Glass shattered inward, and out of nowhere a massive figure landed in the middle of the room. About 7 feet tall. Its fiery crimson red eyes locked onto me rightway, and I froze, my heart pounding in my chest.
The creature growled as he walked closer toward me, its flexing its claws as it sniffed the air around. Before I could even process what was happening, it lunged, its massive claws slicing downward. I threw myself off the bed just in time, landing hard on the floor as the werewolf's claws slices the mattress in two.
"Okay," I muttered, scrambling backward. "I guess waiting it out wasn't the best plan."
The werewolf turned to me, its eyes glowing like ember red as it bared its teeth in a snarl.
I grabbed the nearest thing, a metal IV pole and held it out like a weapon. "Easy there, big boy. You're looking for the mages, right? I'm just the guy who got beat up by a staircase."
The werewolf didn't seem to care. It swiped at me again, and I ducked, the pole clanging uselessly against its claws. The force of the attack sent me sprawling, my back hitting the floor.
Every instinct screamed at me to run, but my body was slow, the strain of my healing core already taking its toll. The werewolf lunged again, its claws tearing through the wall as I rolled out of the way. My legs wobbled as I forced myself to get up, grabbing a tray and hurling it at the monster .
The tray bounced harmlessly off its head. "Go fetch?," I muttered.
The werewolf roared.
"I guess it doesn't like fetch," I muttered. its breath steaming in the cold air as it charged. I bolted toward the door, my bare feet slipping on the tiles as I had an snuggle with the door handle."I have seen this somewhere" as I thought to myself.
The creature's claws scraped across my back, and I stumbled forward, pain flaring through my body as my core desperately tried to heal the wound.
My vision started to go blurred, but I managed to make it into the hallway. The fluorescent lights flickered overhead as I ran, my breaths coming in short gasps. "I'm telling you I have seen this before" thinking to myself while running.
The sound of claws scraping against the floor echoed behind me, and I knew the werewolf was right on my trail.
I turned a corner, grabbing a chair and throwing it behind me. The werewolf ran through it without slowing down, its growl growing louder. My legs felt like it got lead, every step heavier than the last.
I reached the stairwell, pushing the door open with the last of my strength. My body screamed in protest as I stumbled down the steps, my hands holding the railing for support.
The werewolf didn't wait. It leaped down the stairs in a single bound, landing in front of me with a deafening crash.
I froze, my chest heaving as the creature advanced. Its fiery eyes bore into mine, and for a moment, everything felt still. Then, with terrifying speed, it lunged.
I tried to dodge, but its claws pierced through my chest. This time, the pain was unlike anything I'd felt before. It wasn't just physical—it felt deeper, like something vital inside me was tearing apart. it continued to gash at me over and over.
My regeneration is working overtime. I tried to crawl away, but it was no use. Before I could see it move. It grabbed me by the head and stabbed me in the chest with its claws. A sharp gasp escaped my lips as the claws dug deeper, and I felt my mana core shattering. The energy that had kept me alive, healing me time and time again, collapsed in an instant. A hollow ache spread through my entire body, replacing the familiar tingling sensation.
My breaths came in shallow, ragged gasps as I slump against the cold floor, my strength draining faster than ever.
Blood dripped onto the floor, pooling under me as the werewolf loomed closer. Its growl rumbled through the air, low and menacing, as it leaned in, its fiery eyes filling my vision.
"Guess you got the point…" I muttered weakly, a bitter smile tugging at my lips before the darkness claimed me.
