Once again, Darkness swallowed me.
I drifted in nothingness—no pain, no exhaustion, just an oppressive silence. Somehow I managed to die twice on the same day. But then, out of nowhere, I opened my eyes to find myself somewhere completely different.
I was no longer in the forest, or any place I recognized. An endless void filled with soft, glowing light, stretching infinitely in every direction, suspended me instead. The air wasn't hot or cold—it just existed, unconcerned to my presence.
I sat up slowly, trying to steady my thoughts running aimlessly. "Alright," I murmured to myself. "What now?"
Before I could make sense of my surroundings, a clear chime echoed. Glowing words materialized in front of me, hovering midair like a holographic screen.
System Activated
Welcome, Ethan Hayes.
I blinked at the floating text as my stomach twisted into a knot. "System? I finally lost it?"
The text shimmered, shifting as though it had heard me.
Objective: Return Home.
That knocked me back to my senses. "Home? You mean Earth? I can go back?"
More words appeared.
To return to your world, you must complete the following objective:
Defeat the Seven Hybrid Serpents.
"What?" My voice trailed off as I stared at the new words. "Seven. What now?"
The names of these "serpents" appeared one by one:
Jörmadrakthar, The Infernal Wyrm
Frostgandrith, The Eternal Glacier
Umbragnarok, The Twilight Terror
Thundralvyr, The Sky's Wrath
Pyrovandyr: The Earthshatter Leviathan
Nidhrakvy:, The Rotting drsgon
Aethergandrion, The Celestial Apex
I squinted at the first name, trying to sound it out. "Jörma—Jörmadra—seriously, who the hell is naming these things? Did you just smash their head onto a keyboard and call it a day?" I sighed, waving my hand dismissively. "Forget it. From now on, it's Fire Snake, Ice Lizard, and so on."Unfazed by my words, the screen continued:
Completion of all trials will unlock the portal to Earth.
Trial Progress: 0/7 Serpents Defeated.
"Oh, nice," I muttered, running a hand through my hair. "A scoreboard. That's exactly what I needed."
Before I could finish ranting, the glowing space around me flickered and rippled. The chime sound appeared again, louder this time.
Preparing for Deployment…
"Deployment? That doesn't sound."
Before I could finish, the light swallowed me whole.
I woke up gasping for air. When I opened my eyes, I found myself above a hill. As I look forward A huge forest with tall trees, thick vines, and mossy, flowery ground covers the whole area. Gentle streams of clear water flow through the area, and the air fills with the sounds of creatures resembling birds and small monsters.
As I was ready to slide down the hill, I was amazed at what I saw in my hand—a dagger. The blade shimmered; it resembled a piece of the moon's spirit carefully shaped into its design. Its silver edge radiated a stunning, shimmering glow, illuminating everything around me with delicate glimmers. I was lost for words. Every single detail appeared to be perfect, from the unique engravings imprinted into its hilt to the way the light danced across its surface. I stood there, in awe of its beauty, my mind struggling to find the right words to describe it. No matter how much effort I put in—no matter what word I think of—no word can describe the dagger's beauty. It was only when my stomach let out a loud growl that I suddenly returned to the moment. The sound cut through my thoughts with such force that it brought me back to reality. I exhaled sharply and clenched the dagger tightly. I stood up and looked around. My attention was drawn to the softly moving grass in the wind, and upon closer inspection, I noticed small, bunny-like creatures darting through the grass, a sight I couldn't believe. They were tiny, their fluffy bodies barely disturbing the grass, yet their speed was amazing. A smile spread across my face. "Alright," I whispered softly, holding on to my dagger. I slid down the hill, exhilaration propelling me forward in the hunt.
First I attempted to sneak behind one of the little, bunny-like creatures, but my attempts failed badly. I tripped, and before I could react, I found myself face-first on the hard ground. Frustrated, I set out to try again, this time with fruit as bait. But smelling the air suspiciously before sprinting away with incredible speed, they seemed too intelligent for such a basic ruse. I therefore kept trying to outsmart them by crawling across the grass. Each time, they were simply too swift, vanishing before I could get close. My hunger grew along with my frustration, and soon I was panting from exhaustion. My stomach hurt, my legs felt weighty, and my eyesight grew fuzzy. I could swear, slumped in defeat, that I saw the rabbits collected in a group, their small faces staring back at me. Were they parading me as a target? "I will eat you all, you stupid bunnies!" I yelled. My body succumbed to exhaustion, causing me to collapse onto the soft grass and pass out. As I closed my eyes My thoughts became calm. My senses came clear; I could hear the birds' tweeting, the soft rustle of the leaves in the breeze, and the slight patter of the bunnies jumping about me.
Everything became so clear, as if the world itself had slowed down for me. Feeling light, I stood up.My body felt unusually light, as if the weight of the world had lifted off. I inhaled slowly, letting the cool flow through my lungs. I held it for a moment, then gently let out a breath to help the tension. The soft chirping of birds, the rustling leaves, even the breeze—all faded into a gentle, rhythmic flow as though time itself had chosen to slow down just for me. My pulse slowed; it was steady and calm. I observed the bunnies. Usually they were too fast, but now they seem slow. Their small paws and twitchy nose, along with every other movement, made perfect sense. Before they reacted, I could see their movements. I felt as if I embodied the wolf's instinct. Is it because I consumed the wolf's core? Right then One of them leaped into the air, its tiny body floating before it could touch the ground. Before my mind could even register it, my body reacted, and I dashed toward it. I was there before it could land. My blade cut through its head in a smooth motion downward.
When I picked it up, a substance emerged. It was some kind of core similar to the one from the werewolf, but the essence felt much weaker. Once I absorbed it, I felt a slight increase to my mana core.
An idea popped into my head. What if I hunted weaker monsters and took their cores too? I will get stronger. Before I can do that, I must satisfy my hunger. I gaze at the uncooked meat, hesitant to take a bite. My gut began to become louder. I closed my eyes and bit into it. It wasn't horrible, but it tasted strange. The meat had a somewhat tender and slightly sweet taste. I ate as much as I could and decided to hunt as many as I could. After hunting down a few more, I returned to the cave to rest. After hunting for hours, I felt exhausted and tired. As I lay down on my rock-like bed, I drifted away.
I suddenly found myself waking up in my house, in my bed, feeling confused and in disbelief. I got out of bed and ran to the window, desperate to see outside. It looked normal. Nothing had changed since the day I left. I ran downstairs, hoping to find my mom, but there was no one. I checked the back door, and as soon as I stepped outside, everything changed. The entire scenery changed. The sky turned a bloody red, and the cracked, scorched earth beneath me was scorched. A massive dragon, resembling a bird, loomed in the sky. In the distance I can hear a monstrous roar. As I walked toward the familiar neighborhood, lifeless bodies lay. It feels as if they are reaching toward me, begging for help. A shiver ran through my spine. I ran fast. Even as I sprinted, I sensed a presence pursuing me. I was panting heavily, my hands resting on my knees. When I looked up, I found myself alone. than In the distance, I saw the silhouette of human-like monsters. They gazed at me, one of them clutching something in his hand. Their glances paralyzed me. I couldn't move. I couldn't breathe. I instinctually walked closer towards them. Then I saw it. They were holding my mother by the throat. My mind went blank. Rage filled my body. I dashed toward it. The closer I get, the farther it feels. I reached toward my mother. Before I could reach her, they pierced her through the chest. With her last bit of strength, she looked at me and smiled while slowly closing her eyes. Rage filled my body. I effortlessly retrieved my dagger. I don't know how I did it, but I didn't care. I charged toward them. Before I could do anything. They disappeared, and then I felt a sting on my back. Before I could turn my head to investigate, I felt another stab, this time from a different direction. And again and again.I couldn't move. My body felt heavy, like every muscle was screaming for me to stop, to just give up. As I looked down, I felt a sharp pain piercing me. They penetrated my body one after another, tearing through my flesh and muscle as if I were insignificant. Blood poured from the wounds. I could feel every sharp edge buried deep, scraping bone, and cutting nerves, but I couldn't scream. The sheer agony silenced my voice. Things happened so quickly that I wasn't able to see what those seven monsters looked like. As the shadowy figure walked away, dragging my mother by the leg, my vision blurred. My sight became blank and dark. Before I knew it, I woke up in the cave I was lying down in. Panic ran through my body. Gasping for air.
I woke up shaking; my chest felt tight, and my breathing became uncontrollable. Anxiety stung at me, and my hands shook as if they were still clutching something heavy. I felt sweat cling to my skin; neither flames nor ashes surrounded me. There was no sound of blood, smoke, or my mother's dying voice—none at all. All I could smell was the earthy, moist scent of the cave. Still, part of me found it unbelievable. The agony I experienced in that dream, the weight of the sword, the gut-wrenching aching of loss—it was too real, too vivid. The heat of the flames. I shivered, and my hands closed into fists. Suppose it were more than just a dream? Suppose it were a warning instead. I can't take that risk. If there's even a chance that something like that could happen, I can't wait around. I need to finish this. I need to end this quest, whatever it takes, and get back home. The thought of my mother's smile fading, of losing her and everyone else, gripped my heart like a vice. I can't let that happen. I couldn't.
I stood up, dagger in hand, and shouted, "System open!
The Scorched Expanse stretched endlessly before me—a volcanic wasteland filled with rivers of glowing lava, ash-choked skies, and jagged mountains spewing fire. The ground beneath me cracked and hissed with heat, glowing faintly in the dim red light of the sky.
"What the hell is this place?" "What the hell is this place?" I muttered, wiping sweat from my forehead.
"Alright," I muttered, gripping the hilt tightly.
The ground beneath my feet began to tremble, a low vibration that rapidly intensified. Then I heard a deafening screech that tore through the air; it was so sharp that my eardrums exploded. For the first few seconds, all I heard was a ringing sound in my ear. I stumbled, clutching my head as pain lanced through me, but my regeneration kicked in almost instantly, healing the damage.
When I looked up, I wished I hadn't.
From the largest volcano in the distance, a massive figure emerged. Its obsidian-black body coiled around the volcanic spire like a living mountain. Veins of molten fire pulsed beneath its scales, and jagged wings unfurled, stretching wide enough to blot out the sky. Twin molten horns curved back from its head, and golden eyes burned with primal fury.
Jörmadrakthar.
The name echoed in my mind, unbidden, as if the land itself whispered it.
"Fire Snake," I muttered under my breath, shaking my head. "I'm not wasting time trying to pronounce Jörma-whatever."
The fire snake roared, the sound splitting the air and shaking the ground intensely. Rivers filled with lava erupted from the cracks around it, and its golden eyes locked onto me.
"Fire snake, I was instructed by a talking screen to kill you. Would you be willing to surrender good sir?" I shouted.
It roared once more.
"Alright, guess not ," I muttered, while taking a shaky breath. "A large, furious reptile, a gleaming blade, and daunting challenges await us." Let's go." As i prepare to fight.
The serpent, enraged, lunged toward me, its massive jaws snapping shut inches from where I had been standing. I threw myself to the right, landing hard on the cracked ground as molten rock sprayed around me. The intense heat burned my skin, even as my regeneration struggled to keep up. The heat rapidly depleted my stamina.
After it missed me once, it rotated so fast that I couldn't react. Instinctively, I slashed with my dagger, the blade striking its obsidian scales. All I heard was a metal "ting" sound, and then I realized my strike didn't do anything. The snake roared once again, its tail whipping toward me like a battering ram. I jumped back, but I couldn't dodge. It was too fast. The whip struck my chest, propelling me swiftly towards the mountain it had coiled itself around. I felt my rib break as I gasped for air. My recovery team is working tirelessly to repair my broken body. As I struggled to stand up, I relied on the support of the mountain. I saw the serpent charging up a large amount of energy.
"C'mon," I muttered. I intervened before it could unleash its intense power. I bravely crossed the border and hid. The intense heat made me feel as though I was roasting myself. I thought to myself, "Is this how roasting chicken feels?" I muttered.
The heat and exhaustion were relentless. Every move drained my energy, and the beast's molten scales radiated an intensity that threatened to suffocate me. I could dodge and run, but I couldn't land a single meaningful hit. I don't have any more energy.
Then it swooped down from the sky and launched itself once more.
I had no energy left. I am tired, exhausted.
"Let's go, you fucking snake; either you die or I die," I screamed.
I planted my feet, gripping the dagger tightly. At the last moment, I sidestepped, angling myself toward its snapping jaws. Using the serpent's momentum against it, I drove the blade through its long body, locking it between its massive jaws. The heat radiating from its body was overwhelming. I wanted to let go of the dagger, but I couldn't. The head melted my palm, causing it to merge with my hand. My skin felt crispy.
The Wyrm roared in pain, its body convulsing as the dagger's silver light spread through its molten veins. I twisted the blade sharply, using its own strength to cut through its jaw and neck.
The serpent thrashed violently. Its roars got weaker, its massive form collapsing as molten veins dimmed and its golden eyes faded to black.
I staggered back, clutching the dagger as the Infernal Wyrm fell still. A glowing orb—the mana core—hovered above it, pulsing.
Without thinking, I grabbed it and bit it, its energy pouring into me like molten fire. Every nerve in my body screamed in agony as my mana core battled to hold back the power.
But my regeneration kicked in, stabilizing the chaos. Slowly, the pain faded, replaced by a simmering strength. My mana core pulsed stronger, fused with the Wyrm's power.
I collapsed onto the ground, staring at the ash-filled sky. "One down," I muttered, my voice weak but steady. "Six to go."
The world around me blurred, the Scorched Expanse dissolving into light as the system's chime echoed once more.
The first trial is complete.

Chapter 5: The Second Trial
When I woke up, the environment was no longer what it looked like before. Its different. The redness is gone. The blazing heat and molten rivers of lava are gone. The lava that flowed down the mountain was now solid black rock. The land felt silent and still. The thumping beat of the volcanos is gone. The only sounds I can hear are those of my own heartbeat.
I got to my feet, and carefully walked toward the edge of the mountain with a deep inhale; I screamed into the emptiness, "I am Ethan, the God Slayer!" My voice sounded like a broken radio. "Vow before me". Only hearing the echo of my own voice. Part of me really wanted to hear someone respond, but nothing. I feel angry that I have to go through this.
Then,
The loneliness crept into my chest like a constant shadow, smothering me as it wrapped itself around me.There's no one else here but me. It's just me and the loud echo of my mind. Before I knew it, tears flowed down my face, making the already colorless world around me less clear. I felt like I was going to pass out as I stumbled to the edge of the mountain. The weight of it all crushed me. There was a huge, empty gap in front of me, and for a moment, I thought it matched how empty I felt inside
Every second that went by, the weight on my shoulders felt heavier. My chest feels empty,I couldn't scream or cry to fill the emptiness. It was like the world had given up on me. The world felt black and white. The more I thought about it the more hopelessness crept into my heart. My mind became uncontrollable, memories of my every mistake I made, the pain I felt flooded through me, until the weight of all crushed me to the ground. As I shook and curled up into a ball, I couldn't stop the flood of tears that soaked the ground below me. It hurt. The waves of sadness were too strong for my mind to handle. I stayed there for what seemed like hours, letting the crushing loneliness eat away, tear away the last bits of hope I thought I had left. Then, as I lay there in the dark, one thought broke through: my family. A small spark of joy, flicker of hope lit inside me when I thought of their faces, sounds, and the warmth of their love. It didn't take away the pain, but it was something I could hold on to. I held the knife so tightly that my knuckles turned white, and the blade shook in my hand. Through choked sobs and a voice that was hoarse from crying, I said, "System... open portal." I wasn't sure if it would lead me back to them, but the only thing that kept me going was the hope of seeing their smiles and feeling their embrace again.
System: Preparing Second Trial. Target:
Frostgandrith, The Eternal Glacier.
"Frostgandrith," I muttered, stumbling over the syllables. "Seriously? Who names these things? I'm just going to call you Ice Lizard. Way easier." It got frigid after the light went out. The change happened so quickly that it was like going from a blazing flame to a cold freezer. This time it wasn't the heat that hurt my skin; it was the cold wind that cut through the air like knives. When I fell hard on solid ground, the snow crushed under my feet as I tried to get up. An enormous area of ice and snow, seemingly endless, stretched out in front of me. In the distance, rough glaciers stood out like the towering columns of a frozen temple. The pale, cloudy sky made their surfaces sparkle. It was frigid outside, and the wind was howling through the icy wastes. I could feel the cold seeping into my bones. I wrapped my arms around myself, my body trembling as I struggled to take a step forward. The air was cold. I struggle to breathe; every time I inhale, it feels as if my lungs are burning. "Yeah, this is great," I muttered, my voice barely noticeable over the cold wind. "From boiling alive to freezing to death. Fantastic upgrade." As I walked forward, the cold wind got stronger and cut through all of my clothes. My fingers went numb, and the constant cold made it hard for me to see. I felt like giving up, and for a moment I thought this might really be the end. And then it happened. The molten energy that I absorbed by defeating the first trial—the Molten Core—reacted. A faint warmth pulsed from deep within my chest, radiating outward like a layer of protective barrier. The snow around me hissed and melted slightly in the direction I walked. I was like a living heater. The icy wind that had been tearing at my skin instantly evaporated, turning into steam smoke. "Okay, this is neat," I muttered as I stared at my hands, no longer cold but warm.
System: Trial Environment: The Eternal Glacier.
As I pushed myself forward through the snowy mountain. It was quiet. The whole world seemed to be holding its breath, as if something important was about to happen. Then above the top the mountain a giant serpent coil around a large ice pillar.
It was it, the second serpent Frostgandrith.
Its massive form coiled around the base of a frozen pillar , its scales glistening like shards of ice. Massive, sharp, crystal-clear wings spread out wide, catching the dim light and changing it into a rainbow of cold colors. Its sharp blue eyes locked on mine and held me still with its mean look.
As I reached the top, it uncoiled like a boss from a video game. As it uncoiled it self, you can tell how it is. It's so long that it can go around the whole pillar and wide enough to be bigger than anything I had ever seen; it could be bigger than the damn fire snake.
The top of the mountain was like an ice palace. Made for a king. The mountain was encircled by pillars of crystallized ice.
My eyes met the serpents eyes, It slithered towards me; in response, my Molten Core flared out. I could feel the heat fighting back; it was like a shield against the beast's cold energy. The serpent slowly slider back, than it roared. The cold breath cut through the air, sending me flying backwards. The serpent roared once again, its icy breath cutting through the air like a sharp knifes . The ground shook underneath me, cracks forming in the frost as its roar rippled across the ice. Its sharp blue eyes fixed on me, then it lunged with wide massive jaws. The serpent hit me with terrible speed, but I managed to lift my dagger right in time. Its fangs struck the blade in an explosive collision, sparks shooting from the impact. My arms shaking, the force of the strike sent me sliding backward across the ice as I battled to keep my ground. The serpent pushed more, its enormous power nearly crushing me. Trying to stop my momentum as I approached the edge of the mountain, I pushed my feet into the icy ground. The ice split under my weight, the pure plummet behind me causing a panic attack in my chest. I changed my weight at the last possible minute and jumped to the side, just avoiding the snapping jaws of the serpent as it landed.
My limbs feel heavy, my reaction speed slowing as if the cold had seeped into my muscles. Before I could fully recover, the damn snakes massive tail lashed out, whipping me on my rip case and hurling me into the nearest ice pillar. The impact left me gasping for air; my ribs are screaming in protest. I groaned, struggling to rise, but my body was sluggish—frozen. The serpent roared once more, and I felt the frost binding me in place crawling over my legs. My Molten Core started to blaze up, the heat pulsing outwards against the cold. The ice cracked and released me. Unstable and wild, the fire surged through my veins and gave me a brief confidence. Charging forward, the blade in my palm glowed dimly, and I swung at the huge bulk of the serpent. The blade only left a faint mark, causing slight damage to its crystalline scales.
Unimpressed, the serpent snarled, then whipped around again with its tail. I tried to avoid it, but I was too slow, so I ended up crossing my arms to block it. It was no use I was sent flying once again, slamming into another frozen pillars. My core worked overtime to repair the damage, but the frigid temperatures slowed the regeneration.
My body screamed in agony. I rushed to get up on my feet, my breath clouding in the cold air. The serpent loomed over me, its icy gaze sharp and calculating. I raised the dagger, willing it to react or to do something, but it remained lifeless in my hand. "Not now," I muttered through gritted teeth, gripping the hilt tighter. "Don't fail me now!"
The serpent shot upward. With its enormous wings stretched wide and shadowing the battlefield, its brilliant eyes fixed on me. Frostgandrith charged an enormous amount of mana, the power shimmering in the air like a coming storm. Realizing what was going to happen, my heart pounded.
It released thousands of jagged ice shards toward me. I dove behind one of the stone pillars dotting the battlefield. With thunderous power, shards broke the pillar into frozen fragments. I continue to hide behind pillars. I looked around desperately before I realized I had run out of places to hide. "I have no other options" i muttered to my self. Pulling every bit of power I had, I poured all my mana through my body. Heat shot through me, flames running out of me as I crossed my arms in defense. The ice shards melted right away when they crashed against my body. Still, the barrage of icicles was relentless. There is no end to it. My flames started to slip, the ice pushing through, it slowly overpowering me.
Then I felt a sharp, searing agony ran through my left shoulder as I was struggling to fend off the final wave of ice shards. An ice shard plunged through my shoulder. The pain was unbearable. It feels as ,the ice is shooting through my body and freezing me from the inside. My core shines brighter, trying to counter the effect. I grabbed the shards and pulled them out. The cold was so intense it left frostbite on my palm. My core getting hotter, brighter. My body began to radiate a smokey glow. My skin turned red like a boiled lobster. The serpent slithers down from the sky, widening up its jaw, ready to devour me. I dove into the right side to dodge it, but it was pointless. My movement has slowed so much that I wasn't able to see its tail striking me. I instantly wrapped my arms around its tail. I can tell the heat radiating from my body is hurting the serpent. I can tell it's hurting. The serpent enraged.
With me still clinging to it, the serpent flew above the sky and slammed its tail onto the ground. It slammed over and over. It slammed against the ground, shattering the pillar it coiled up on. Each strike hurts more than the next. I can feel my muscles tearing. I can feel like bone crushing. One last slam on the ground did the trick. I gasped for air, my grip on its tail loosened, and it knew it. The serpent whipped its tail upwards, propelling me through the sky.
As I flew through the sky, the serpent slid toward me, flying midair with its jaw open. My limbs are broken. My ribs are cracked. My muscles won't respond. I can't move. I can't react. All I can do is watch as the serpent's jaw closes around me.
Inside the serpent, it was dark,it was suffocating, the air thick with freezing mist and the walls of its stomach pressing against me. My body is freezing into a statue. It's dark; it's cold. I am dying alone, in a place where no one can find me. As I slowly closed my eyes, accepting my fate. Then a vision of my dying mother's face appeared. Reminded me once again that I was weak. my heart pound louder.
Thump nonstop getting louder each time. Getting faster every time. More aggressive. My body heating up. My eyes burning. My mouth feels like I'm about to shoot out a fire. I can feel my core going berserk.
My Molten Core blazed up with anger. The energy rushed through me with intensely. I couldn't keep up with how quickly the heat was rising. My core beat rapidly, overloading as it got to its limit. Like a supernova, the explosion tore through the snake from the inside out. Frostgandrith's body shook wildly as the heat tore through its icy insides and shattering it into pieces.
After the explosion, I fell to the ground so fast that I couldn't reset . My body felt weak. As soon as I hit the ground, the impact cracked the ground below me and turned the ice into steam. Somewhat cooling my burned body slighty.
The frozen wasteland around me began to slowly melt away. My muscles hurts. My lungs felt like its on fire. The heat inside me becomes painful, like a fire burning under my skin. I was being devoured from the inside out. It felt like lava was running through my blood and eating everything it touched. The pain was too much to describe. Not only was my skin burning, it was gone. With every move, every twitch, the raw, exposed, I screamed in pain. The cold air didn't help. The frost under my body turned into steam. There was no longer any cold to numb my senses. Instead, there was an unbearable heat that stuck to me like a second skin. Every nerve in my body screamed, and every touch of the hot, damp air against my skin hurt like hell. It hurt for every second, every breath, and every thought. I really wanted to scream, but even that felt impossible as the fire was burned my throat . It was painful. My vision started to blur.
Through the haze of pain and agony, I saw it: the serpent's core. The glowing orb pulsed. I crawled forward, reaching for it.
"I need the ice core to balance out the molten core within me" i whisper, while slowly crawled toward it.
The pain it gets worse by the second. I felt worse as I moved toward the core. When I got to the core, I reach it with last bit of strength I had left and bit into it without thinking. The energy rushed into me and mixed with the Molten Core's fiery power. As the two core tried to balance each other out, my body shook. The forces became stable and merged into a single force. My body stable and started to regenerate slowly. A sound I knew came back to me: The second trial is completed. Frostgandrith, "The Eternal Glacier," has been defeated.

I lay there and looked up at the ash-gray sky. I whispered, "Two down," and a weak smile tugged at my lips. "Five left." As I fall into the darkness.
