Chapter 2 - 2

A super selection system?

For a moment, Alex Carter suddenly felt as though he was in the game again.

Three options.

This meant he would embark on three different paths.

He could leave with an astronomical amount of wealth, becoming unrestrained in the world of cyberpunk from now on.

Or he could inform Arasaka Corporation, eventually becoming one of the shareholders of the behemoth Arasaka Corporation.

Or he could use his own advantages to help V and Jackie obtain the black light virus that killed Brother A and Brother Hei in "Prototype," albeit the castrated version.

"Tsk tsk tsk, my system is quite interesting," Alex couldn't help but smile in his heart.

In other people's selection systems, the final prizes are often disproportionate.

It's said to be a choice, but in fact, it usually leads to the best prize.

This is quite good for himself.

Although the black light virus seems to be more powerful, it's the castrated version, and who knows how much castration there will be.

And even if it were the full version of the black light virus, in today's technologically advanced world, trying to accomplish anything could end disastrously.

It's not just the enhanced mercenaries and troops with prosthetics he would have to worry about.

He might even be captured by Arasaka's people for research.

Instead, the other two options seem more appealing.

In this world, money is everything.

It allows one to live freely and do whatever they wish.

And becoming part of Arasaka's high-level hierarchy means standing atop the world instantly.

But...

"I'm here to help you," a bright smile appeared on Alex's face.

"Ding, task accepted [The Fearless]: Steal the Relic chip with V and Jackie Welles."

Alex Carter is not someone who can sit still.

In his previous life, he had endured the chaos of bullets and warfare for six or seven years, and it had long since numbed him.

Since fate gave him such a chance, wouldn't it be a pity not to make up for the world's regrets?

"Heh, we don't need help," V coldly refused Alex's request.

Alex shrugged: "That's not necessarily true. Although your plan is perfect, it can't keep up with unforeseen changes."

"For example, T-BUG didn't find out, and Dexter didn't tell you that Saburo Arasaka was on his way here."

"What! Saburo Arasaka!"

"You know T-BUG?"

For a moment, V, Jackie, and T-BUG on the other end of the communication were dumbfounded.

They never imagined that Alex would drop such a big bomb on them.

Not only did he know the whereabouts of Saburo Arasaka, but he even knew about T-BUG, the hacker behind the two!

Although they didn't know if the news about Saburo Arasaka was true or not, it was still terrifying to know the information about a cyber hacker who was very good at hiding her whereabouts.

Seeing that V and Jackie were silent, Alex raised the corner of his mouth again, looked at V, and asked tentatively:

"Are you thinking about stopping this time? After all, there are too many changes in this operation."

"...," V looked at Alex and said nothing, but her slightly narrowed eyes confirmed Alex's guess.

Seeing this scene, the smile on the corner of Alex's mouth grew even wider.

"If you add me, I guarantee that you can take the chip this time and leave here safely."

"And when the time comes, you'll definitely get more than what that damn fat Dexter promised you."

"Even..." Alex turned to look at Jackie: "You still have a chance to become a living legend in Night City!"

Alex's voice, like a spell, penetrated into the minds of the two of them.

Every word precisely hit the most sensitive point in their hearts.

After pondering for a moment, V closed the safety on her gun again and removed it from Alex's forehead.

She said slowly, "Then what is your purpose?"

"My purpose?" Alex smiled and said without hesitation: "My purpose is difficult to explain, but it does not conflict with yours."

"The most important thing is that I have good intentions for you."

"Why should we trust you?" V asked in a deep voice.

Alex smiled and said, "If I wanted to harm you, you would have already been arrested by Arasaka's people."

"Besides, taking the gun away already shows that you believe me, or choose to gamble."

"I understand you better than anyone."

After that, Alex got out of bed and started to move his body briefly.

"Cut..." V rolled her eyes at Alex and then sat back on the sofa, whispering something to Jackie while occasionally glancing at Alex.

Alex didn't say anything about this.

After all, there might be a tough battle ahead.

He had to move his body now and, by the way, learn about the use of this game interface.

"System, explain what this game interface does," Alex asked tentatively in his heart.

And the system did not let him down, dutifully providing the answer.

"The host can still live in this world in the form of a game because of its special status."

"Including digitizing body information, using game functions such as carry-on bags and teleportation points at any time, etc..."

Alex nodded slightly.

Although the data-based body information didn't currently suggest any special role, just being able to use the carry-on package and the game teleportation point was very convenient.

...

As time passed, the sky gradually dimmed.

"What do you think, why did he all give up?" Jackie suddenly asked, looking out the window.

V was taken aback by Jackie's question: "Huh? Who gave up what?"

Seeing the plot begin to develop, a smile appeared on Alex's face.

If there is no problem, after this conversation is over, T-BUG will break through the ICE on the top floor of the Kanbi Building.

At that time, they can officially start the action!
