Ellie, Layla, and Locke stood in front of the gates of the dilapidated castle, the stale smell of it overwhelming Ellie's heartbeat uncontrollably speeding up. She tightened the jacket around her body in an attempt to dispel the nervousness and uneasiness in her mind, only to realize that it was futile. The gate slowly opened with a toothsome creak, as if telling of the vicissitudes of time.
Stepping into the castle, the interior was dark and damp, the walls were crawling with moss, and the candles on the candlestick flickered with a faint light, barely illuminating the path ahead. Ellie's gaze was attracted by one of the portraits on the walls around them, the faces of the characters in those portraits were distorted, their eyes revealing a bizarre light, as if they were peering at them from the shadows.
"Be careful, everything here reeks of weirdness." Laila warned softly, her voice echoing in the empty castle, appearing particularly ethereal.
The three of them cautiously walked along the corridor, taking every step with extreme caution, afraid of triggering any mechanism. Suddenly, Locke stopped in his tracks, his nose sniffed hard and his face became very grave.
"What's wrong?" Ellie asked nervously.
"There's an aura of danger, and ... it's familiar." Locke whispered, his body crouching slightly and taking a fighting stance.
Just then, an eerie laughter came from all directions, echoing throughout the castle. Ellie only felt her scalp tingle and a chill ran straight up her spine from the soles of her feet. She focused her mind, and the supernatural energy in her body began to slowly surge, ready to deal with the unknown danger.
"Who is it? Come out!" Lyra shouted, a hint of authority in her voice.
As the laughter fell, a group of figures slowly emerged from the darkness. These figures had fluttering figures, and their translucent bodies emitted a ghostly green light, surprisingly, they were a group of ghosts.
"This is our territory, you shouldn't come." The specter in the lead let out a sharp hiss, and the sound seemed to drill directly into the minds of the crowd, causing a headache.
Ellie forced herself to endure the headache and maneuvered the air current towards the group of ghosts. However, the air currents went straight through the bodies of the ghosts without causing any damage to them.
"It's useless, these ghosts are the guardians of the castle, ordinary attacks are ineffective against them." Locke said with a frown.
A cold light flashed in Laila's eyes as she quickly made a seal with her hands and a black flame ignited in her hands. "Then try this." She threw the black flame towards the group of ghosts, and the flames instantly enveloped the ghosts, letting out a painful scream.
However, the ghosts were too numerous, coming in wave after wave. Ellie's heart raced as she kept trying various uses of her supernatural abilities, and suddenly, she realized that she was able to sense the ghosts' emotional fluctuations.
"I have a solution!" Ellie shouted as she focused her mind and invaded her consciousness into the mind of a ghost. That ghost instantly became dumbfounded, and then surprisingly turned around and attacked the other ghosts.
"Ellie, how did you do that?" Lyra asked in surprise.
"I can sense their emotions and also control their minds." Ellie said as she took control of a few more ghosts, and the situation was instantly reversed.
With the joint efforts of the crowd, the ghost swarm was finally repelled. They let out a reluctant hiss and disappeared into the darkness.
"Whew... it's finally over." Ellie collapsed to the ground in exhaustion, the battle had consumed a great deal of her energy.
Laila and Locke rushed forward to help Ellie up, just then, a low growl came from the depths of the castle, as if some giant beast was awakening.
"It seems that our troubles aren't over yet." Laila's face became very grave.
After the three of them took a short rest, they continued to walk towards the depths of the castle. As they went deeper, the surroundings became weirder and weirder, and some strange symbols and patterns began to appear on the walls, and Ellie always felt that these symbols seemed to be conveying some kind of message, but she was unable to decipher them.
Finally, they came to a huge room. The door of the room was closed tightly, and it was carved with complex runes. Ellie's hand had just touched the door when the runes suddenly lit up and a powerful force bounced her out.
"This is an ancient magic seal, it seems that something important is hidden inside." Lyra said.
Just as they were thinking about how to break the seal, a violent vibration suddenly came from the room, followed by the door slowly opening and a huge werewolf appeared in front of their eyes. This werewolf was even taller and stronger than Locke, and exuded a powerful sense of oppression.
"Lucas!" Locke shouted in surprise.
A flicker of confusion flashed in Lucas's eyes, then his gaze fell on Ellie, revealing a wary look.
"Who are you guys? Why are you here?" Lucas's voice was low and husky.
Ellie hurriedly recounted her experience once again, and Lucas fell into deep thought after hearing it.
"It seems that the prophecy is really coming true." Lucas muttered.
"What prophecy?" Ellie asked eagerly.
Lucas lifted his head, a hint of helplessness revealed in his eyes, "In the ancient legends of the werewolf family, there is a prophecy about shifters. When the world is plunged into darkness and the balance is broken, a person with powerful psychic abilities will appear, and she will reshape the order of the world. And you, Ellie, could very well be the one in that prophecy."
Ellie looked at Lucas in shock; she had never imagined that her fate was tied to such a major prophecy.
"So what do we do now?" Lila asked.
Lucas took a deep breath, "This castle hides a great secret that is tied to the balance of the supernatural world. We must find this secret in order to stop the conspiracy of the mysterious organization."
Just then, there was a sudden cacophony of voices from outside the castle, followed by a strong light shooting into the castle. The crowd turned their heads to look, only to see a group of black-clothed men surging towards the castle, holding all kinds of high-tech weapons in their hands, and the one at the head of them was none other than the leader of that mysterious organization--Victor.
"It seems that they have finally come after us." A hint of determination flashed in Lucas' eyes, "This time, we can't retreat anymore."
Ellie clenched her fists, and the supernatural energy in her body surged once again. She knew that an even more intense battle was about to break out, and this time, she would give it her all for the sake of her destiny and the balance of the supernatural world. As the man in black got closer and closer, a tense atmosphere filled the entire castle, and a battle of life and death was about to break out.
