Chapter 11 - chapter 11

The wedding venue was a picturesque paradise adorned with cascading flowers, glittering chandeliers, and a sense of joyous anticipation. Grace was set to arrive in a vintage car that matched the theme, but unbeknownst to everyone, her journey to the venue was intercepted by Adrian's vengeful ex-girlfriend, Vanessa.

Vanessa had gone to great lengths to orchestrate her plan. She hired a team of mercenaries who were loyal to her for the right price, and they executed her orders with precision. As Grace's car neared a secluded section of the route, a black SUV blocked their path. Before Grace's driver could react, masked men emerged, dragging Grace from the car and whisking her away.

Adrian was pacing at the altar, glancing at his watch and wondering why Grace was late. His heart raced when Olivia, his trusted advisor, approached him with a pale face.

"She's been taken," Olivia whispered urgently, showing him a grainy image sent anonymously to her phone—a picture of Grace bound and blindfolded in a dimly lit warehouse.

Adrian's blood ran cold. He gripped the edge of the altar to steady himself. "Who?" he demanded, his voice sharp with desperation.

"Vanessa," Olivia confirmed. "It's her handwriting in the message. She wants you to meet her alone if you want Grace back."

The message read:"Meet me at the warehouse on Pier 13. Come alone, or she dies. You know what you owe me, Adrian."

Adrian crumpled the paper in his fist, his mind racing. He couldn't involve the authorities—not when Vanessa was unpredictable and Grace's life was at stake.

"Olivia," he said, his voice steady despite the turmoil inside, "track her phone and find me backup. But I'm going. I'm not leaving Grace in her hands."

The warehouse at Pier 13 was an abandoned, decrepit structure, surrounded by the distant hum of the sea. Adrian entered cautiously, the echo of his footsteps bouncing off the steel walls. He carried no weapons, just his unwavering determination to bring Grace back.

"Vanessa!" he called out, his voice slicing through the silence. "I'm here. Let her go!"

Vanessa stepped out from the shadows, a smug smile on her face. She wore an extravagant red gown, as if this were some twisted performance. Behind her, Grace was tied to a chair, her face pale but her eyes fierce as they locked on Adrian.

"Adrian," Vanessa purred, circling him like a predator. "I knew you'd come. Tell me, how does it feel to lose control for once?"

Adrian's fists clenched, but he forced himself to stay calm. "This isn't about control. This is about you letting go of the past. You can't force me back into your life."

Vanessa's expression twisted into one of fury. "I made you, Adrian! You were nothing without me. And now you're throwing it all away for her?" She gestured towards Grace.

"She believed in me when you didn't," Adrian said coldly. "And you? You walked away when I needed someone the most."

Vanessa's eyes flared with hatred. "You think she'll stand by you when things get tough? She's weak, Adrian. She doesn't have what it takes to survive in your world."

"You don't get to decide that," Adrian snapped. "Now let her go."

Vanessa laughed bitterly. "You really think you can walk out of here with her? You're in my world now." She signaled to her mercenaries, who emerged from the shadows, armed and ready to strike.

Adrian's backup, led by Olivia and a private security team, burst in at that moment. The warehouse erupted into chaos as Vanessa's men engaged in a fierce standoff with Adrian's team.

Amid the commotion, Adrian sprinted towards Grace. He untied her bonds quickly, whispering, "I'm here. You're safe now."

Grace, though shaken, managed a small smile. "I knew you'd come."

Just as they began to retreat, Vanessa lunged towards Adrian with a knife. Grace screamed, but Adrian turned just in time, grabbing Vanessa's wrist and disarming her.

"It's over, Vanessa," Adrian said, his voice filled with finality.

Tears streamed down her face, but her expression was a mix of anger and desperation. "You'll regret this, Adrian. You'll see."

Adrian signaled his team to detain Vanessa, ensuring she wouldn't escape to wreak more havoc.

Hours later, after giving their statements to private investigators and ensuring Vanessa was in custody, Adrian and Grace stood outside the warehouse, the chaos behind them fading into the background.

Grace rested her head on Adrian's chest, her voice trembling. "You didn't have to come alone. She could've hurt you."

Adrian wrapped his arms around her, his voice gentle yet firm. "I would've walked through fire for you. Nothing and no one will ever come between us."

They returned to the wedding venue, where the remaining guests, having heard of the ordeal, cheered as the couple finally exchanged vows.

Vanessa's face remained a mask of defiance as the guards led her into the interrogation room. She leaned back in the metal chair, her lips curling into a smirk whenever the detectives tried to extract remorse from her.

"I have nothing to say," she said coldly, folding her arms. "I only regret that Adrian didn't see things my way before this. He's mine, and you'll never keep me away from him."

The officers exchanged wary glances. Vanessa's delusions and venom were unshaken, her obsession with Adrian clear. Yet despite the charges against her, Vanessa knew someone powerful was working behind the scenes to get her released—and she wasn't wrong.

Benson, Adrian's half-brother, seethed with resentment after his disgrace at Adrian's event. His father, Richard, had not only stripped him of his shares but also humiliated him in front of the business elite. Driven by hatred, Benson saw Vanessa as a weapon to dismantle Adrian's life once and for all.

Through his connections, Benson arranged for Vanessa's release. The details of her escape were carefully orchestrated—a legal technicality here, a bribe there. Within days, Vanessa was free, her bitter determination to ruin Adrian's life reignited.

"I owe you one," Vanessa told Benson when they met in a secluded office. Her tone was anything but grateful—it was a calculated acknowledgment of the alliance.

"Don't thank me yet," Benson said, his eyes narrowing. "We both have scores to settle with Adrian. You want Grace gone, and I want Adrian's empire in ruins. Let's make sure he pays for everything."

Vanessa's smile was cold. "Grace won't just be out of the picture—she'll never see the light of day again."

Vanessa threw herself into planning Grace's demise. Her obsession consumed her, and she hired a dangerous hitman to follow Grace's movements. She ensured Adrian wouldn't suspect anything by keeping her actions under the radar, using Benson's resources to cover her tracks.

Meanwhile, Adrian and Grace were blissfully unaware of the looming danger. Adrian had decided to take some time off, dedicating himself to their honeymoon plans and ensuring Grace felt safe after the wedding ordeal. They traveled to a remote, luxurious beach resort, hoping to leave behind the chaos of the city.

But Vanessa had tracked them down.

One serene evening, Adrian and Grace walked hand-in-hand along the shoreline, the golden hues of the setting sun reflecting off the waves. It was the perfect escape—until the tranquility shattered.

A masked assailant emerged from the shadows, his movements quick and calculated. Grace screamed as he lunged toward her, but Adrian's instincts kicked in.

"Run!" he yelled, pushing Grace behind him.

The hitman was skilled, and Adrian had to fight fiercely to defend himself and Grace. The struggle drew the attention of nearby resort security, but not before Adrian managed to wrest the knife from the attacker's grip and subdue him.

When the authorities arrived, they apprehended the hitman, who, under pressure, revealed Vanessa's involvement.

Back in the city, Vanessa was arrested again, this time with far stronger evidence tying her to the attempted attack on Grace. Yet even as the cuffs clicked around her wrists, Vanessa laughed—a chilling sound that echoed in the courtroom.

"You think this is over?" she sneered. "You can lock me up, but you'll never take Adrian away from me. Grace doesn't deserve him. He's mine!"

Benson, watching the events unfold from the sidelines, realized Vanessa's obsession was spiraling beyond control. Though he had fueled her vendetta for his own purposes, it was clear she was becoming a liability.

Adrian, meanwhile, was more determined than ever to protect Grace. He bolstered their security, ensuring no threat could reach them again. He also launched a full investigation into Benson's involvement, determined to expose him for not only aiding Vanessa but for orchestrating other schemes to undermine him.

Adrian's efforts bore fruit when his private investigator unearthed evidence linking Benson to Vanessa's release and her subsequent plots. Adrian confronted Benson at a high-profile business meeting, presenting the evidence before their father, Richard, and other stakeholders.

"You've done everything in your power to destroy me, Benson," Adrian said, his voice steady but filled with conviction. "But this ends today."

Richard, visibly shaken, turned to Benson with disgust. "I gave you every opportunity, and this is how you repay me? By trying to destroy your own brother? You're finished."

Benson was stripped of all remaining privileges, his reputation irreparably damaged.
