Chapter 42 - ch-42

Looking at the frozen Pikachu...

Audiences from all over the world began discussing the situation.

---

**Palace Gate Stadium – Audience Seats**

"Frozen???"

"Both sides have had incredible luck in this match. One triggered the paralysis condition with Thunderbolt, while the other triggered the freezing condition with Ice Beam."

"But Regice can clear its paralysis condition with Rest. Pikachu... it seems to have no way out."

"It's over... Pikachu can't move in the frozen condition."

"Is there really no hope left???"

"Pikachu seems to have lost the game."

Even among the audience, the consensus was the same.

The Champion Trainers shook their heads. It seemed there was no hope left.

"Ash's Pikachu managed to hold on for so long—it's truly remarkable," Cynthia commented.

Cynthia's trump card was her Garchomp.

With its Ground and Dragon typing, it was quadruple weak to Ice-type moves.

"In this situation..." Cynthia admitted, "I might not even be able to defeat Mr. Brandon's Regice."

Ash's Pikachu, despite being a low-stat Pokémon, had persisted this long, even forcing Regice into a corner and compelling it to use a move like Rest.

That alone was already an impressive achievement.

"Pikachu, even if you lose, you've fought with great honor," Dodo added.

Even his Dragonite struggled against an opponent like Regice.

Yet Ash and Pikachu...

Had dealt significant damage to Regice.

Judging by this match alone, Ash's Pikachu was already in a league of its own.

In this world...

There may not be many Pikachu more powerful than Ash's.

It was truly extraordinary.

---

**Kanto Region, Team Rocket Headquarters**

"A frozen condition? It's game over," Executive Proton scoffed.

"To be honest, I'm surprised the brat's Pikachu lasted this long."

His tone was mocking.

But Ariana noticed the matchup seemed more like a 40:60 split than an overwhelming defeat.

With a slight sigh, she added, "That Pikachu... it really does seem different from others."

"It's lost anyway. There's no point in prolonging this. In Pokémon battles, you either win or lose," Archer said dismissively.

The Rocket executives were unimpressed by Pikachu, considering it a weak, low-stat Pokémon.

Only Giovanni watched the screen silently, observing Ash and Pikachu.

It reminded him of his Beedrill from years ago...

A Pokémon nobody believed in, yet one that defied the odds in battle.

Could a low-stat Pokémon really overcome a legendary one?

---

**On the screen—**

[Seeing Pikachu frozen solid, Ash's support team was stunned into silence.]

[Ash clenched his fists and roared desperately:]

"Come on, Pikachu! You don't lose so easily—not because of something this small! Your unyielding spirit has saved me time and time again."

"Whenever I feel defeated, you always motivate me to keep going."

"Please, Pikachu, I know you can hear me. Use Thunderbolt!"

Ash's voice, filled with determination, echoed worldwide through the broadcast.

But despite his desperate shouts, Pikachu didn't respond.

Trapped in the frozen condition, it remained motionless, as though it had lost its ability to fight.

---

Dodo sighed as he watched.

"Is there no hope for a comeback?"

"This result isn't bad. Forcing a legendary Pokémon like Regice into such a difficult spot is already quite the accomplishment," Diantha noted.

Uncle Alder shook his head regretfully.

But there was nothing anyone could do.

Ash's opponent was Mr. Brandon, the Pyramid King, whose strength rivaled that of Drake, the leader of Hoenn's Elite Four.

On top of that, Brandon was using Regice, a legendary Pokémon.

If Ash had sent out a Pokémon with a type advantage—perhaps Charizard, which had previously defeated legendary Pokémon—the outcome might have been different.

But Pikachu...

A low-stat Pokémon that hadn't even reached its final evolution.

What chance did it have against Regice?

This was a battle that seemed unwinnable!

Even as Ash continued shouting desperately, Pikachu remained unresponsive.

---

**Sinnoh Region, Veilstone City**

"Mr. Brandon... he's truly unbeatable," Reggie said, shaking his head helplessly.

At Ash and Pikachu's current level...

There seemed to be no way to defeat Mr. Brandon.

---

**Kanto Region, Cinnabar Island**

"You can't give up, Pikachu!" James exclaimed.

"Pikachu, what are you doing? Use that Thunderbolt that always knocks us out and fry that ice block into a puddle!" Jessie shouted angrily.

"Come on, Pikachu, meow~! Don't let that brat down!" Meowth cried anxiously.

The trio seemed more worried about Pikachu than Ash himself.

---

**Kanto Region, Team Rocket Headquarters**

"Hahaha! Is the brat finally out of luck?" Proton sneered.

"Does he think shouting about friendship and bonds will wake Pikachu up? How naive!"

"Those things don't matter in a real battle."

But before Proton could mock any further, he was stunned by what happened next.

---

**In the video—**

[Pikachu was trapped in an icy prison, lost in a world of cold and silence.]

[Its consciousness wavered, teetering on the edge of collapse.]

[But then, Ash's voice broke through, reaching its ears.]

[As Pikachu remained frozen, memories of its journey with Ash began to surface.]

[Their fateful meeting in Pallet Town.]

[The attack by the Spearow flock.]

[Their first gym battle together.]

[The clash against Lt. Surge's Raichu, where Pikachu refused to evolve and eventually triumphed with its speed.]

[The time Ash offered to let Pikachu stay in a forest full of its own kind, only for Pikachu to choose to stay by his side.]

[Their countless gym battles, league competitions, and special events.]

[And now, their fight against a legendary Pokémon in the Battle Pyramid.]

[Pikachu and Ash had overcome countless challenges together.]

[They had never given up, even when facing overwhelming odds.]

[This time would be no different.]

Damn it!!!

I won't give up!!!
