Chapter 7: Shadows and Secrets
Sophie's heart pounded as she approached the figure lurking in the shadows. "Who are you?" she demanded, trying to keep her voice steady.
The figure slowly stepped forward, its features illuminated by the faint moonlight. Sophie gasped as she recognized the person.
"It's...it's Mr. Jenkins, the school janitor," Sophie stammered.
Mr. Jenkins' eyes seemed to gleam with a sinister intensity. "You shouldn't be snooping around, Sophie," he growled, his voice low and menacing.
Sophie stood her ground, refusing to back down. "What do you know about the threatening messages?" she asked, her eyes locked on Mr. Jenkins.
But before Mr. Jenkins could respond, a loud noise echoed through the alleyway, distracting Sophie. When she turned back, Mr. Jenkins had vanished into the shadows.
Meanwhile, Emily was uncovering a dark secret about Oakwood. While exploring the town's abandoned library, she stumbled upon an old diary hidden deep within the shelves.
As she flipped through the pages, Emily discovered a shocking truth. Oakwood had a dark history of ritualistic sacrifices, and the town's founders had made a pact with a malevolent entity to ensure the town's prosperity.
Emily's eyes widened as she read the final entry. The entity, known only as "The Shadow," had been awakened, and it would stop at nothing to claim its next victim.
