Chapter 6 - Bright light

Under the dark skies, a shadow made his way down the road, not turning back knowing another shadowy figure was on his tail. His hands in the pockets of the sweater as he went on to another lane. This path was dark and left out in the capital city.

As much as the capital city was taken care of, some places were meant to rot away leaving it for people lurking in the dark to fulfill every of their evil fantasies.

He walked into an old factory, he didn't know what they'd used this for but it looked like a refinery or something. His eyes went sideways under the pitched light. He knew the ways of this place, he came here but not too often, the woods was a better and safer place than this.

He strolled more inside and the shadowy figure was still on his tail. He walked more until he reached an intersection to another facility but that would be by an iron bridge they'd built probably for it, definitely. He turned his head a bit sideways seeing a distant shadow, smirking as he walked away.

"Almost everything was destroyed zayn, what did you say happened again" his mom shuffled through the cupboard in the kitchen. Her brows creased like she was searching for something "I think we will need some more plates"

"Hmm"

"The term is almost up zayn, any plans yet?" She picked up a pot and fixed it on the stove where she poured water into it "Anything I should know about like trying to learn a thing or two before university"

"Hmm" he absently answered, a book in his hand he was invested into "And what would that be zayn?" His mom turned to him, hands on her hips as she smiled lovingly at him.

"Nothing you should stress yourself on mom"he picked an apple to stand up but his mom rushed to his side immediately stopping him, "let's go out today, I'm off" she looked away from him, her eyes moist as she fiddled with her hands "since your father's death, we haven't gone out. Just me and you. Like nothing happened, everything is okay which is okay, I know it is" she chuckled, leaning on the table "let's go out my love, please" she begged. She didn't want to cry but a tear slipped down from her eyes.

Zayn dropped the Apple, peeling away the book from his hold. He hugged his mom so tightly, she tapped him on his back to let her go a little and he murmured 'yes' while she smiled and kissed him.

That day after they had eaten and showered, they dressed and left the house. Zayn's mom wanted them to go to a restaurant she had been eyeing and wanted to go with her husband boy since he wasn't here she urged zayn to go with her.

The food in the restaurant was nice which they enjoyed and loved, zayn answered and talked to his mom like he always wanted. They left the restaurant for the park since the sun was setting down. It was a sight which zayn's mom dragged zayn to see.

"Me and your father used to come out every morning to see the sun going up to the horizon, it was a sight" she smiled, her eyes fading into distance as she reminisced "he would always say what about you, this and that but you know. I wanted it to just be the both of us. I love him. I love you so much zayn" she took his hand in hers and kissed "I love you so much, I know I…"

"Mom stop, you are doing everything I know dad would be happy you are doing. Don't try to do anything. I love you too"he gritted his teeth and hugged her, kissing her hair.

After some more talking and laughing they left home however while they were going as usual zayn noticed a shadow lurking behind every alley they passed following them. They stood at the curb, near the pedestrian bridge waiting for the traffic lights which did after a few minutes of their arrival.

Whilst they crossed the road, a truck on a full speed sped through the people shouting and screaming towards where zayn stood. He pushed his mother away from him and tried evading the hit but it was too fast thereby pushing him to the floor which after the driver stumbled into the water pump by the side.

His mother screamed and ran to his side, ambulance and police driving towards them from a distance. He closed his eyes, the pain in his right leg where the truck had hit him ached.

Noises from reality faded and he found himself in a room, a big light shining from the end where he walked to and tried touching it but it faded to something more haunting.
