Chapter 24 - Chapter 24: Innovations

Peter Parker sat in his personal lab at Oscorp, surrounded by various scientific instruments and computer screens. He had been researching unstable molecular fibers, inspired by the Fantastic Four's advanced suits. These fibers could adapt to different environments, change shape and color, and were highly resistant to damage. Peter believed that creating a suit from such material would enhance his abilities as Spider-Man.

To begin, Peter used advanced computer simulations to design the molecular structure of the fibers. He aimed to create a material with high strength, elasticity, and thermal stability. After several iterations, he finalized a design that met his requirements.

Next, he synthesized the fibers at the nanoscale. Employing techniques like chemical vapor deposition, Peter carefully built thin layers of the material. This process required precision and patience, but after several hours, he successfully created the fibers.

To stabilize the fibers, Peter treated them with a combination of radiation and chemical modifications. This step ensured that the material maintained its unique properties under various conditions. By evening, he had produced enough of the fibers to construct a new suit.

Peter spent the next few hours assembling the suit, weaving the unstable molecular fibers into a design that mirrored a red and black Spider-Man attire. The new suit could adapt to different environments, change its appearance, and was highly resistant to damage. Additionally, Peter integrated a prototype of his self-developed artificial intelligence system, made from the materials he had previously ordered. The AXIS (Artificial eXperimental Intelligence System) was added into the suit. This AI would assist him in various tasks, providing real-time data analysis and communication support. The power was generated through electromagnetic induction, quantum fluctuation energy, peizo-electric and thermo-electric properties of unstable molecular fibres.

Night had fallen over New York City, and the lights of Oscorp Tower shone brightly against the dark sky. Peter Parker stood on the edge of a nearby rooftop. The city below bustled with life, unaware of the dangers that hid among them in the open.

"I need to know more," he muttered under his breath. The look Norman had in his eyes, earlier today, was unsettling. But he needed to know how far Norman has gone before he to chose to help him.

Oscorp was one of the most secure buildings in the city. Cameras covered every entrance, guards patrolled every floor, and motion sensors were installed in the most sensitive areas. But Peter had already mapped out it's weaknesses. Especially the section of the ventilation system through which he could slip into, unnoticed.

Taking a deep breath, he leaped off the rooftop and swung towards the Oscorp building. With perfect timing, he released his web-line and flipped onto the side of the tower, sticking to the glass like a... well, spider. His suit adjusted to the dim city lights, making him nearly invisible against the reflection.

Moving carefully, Peter crawled downward until he reached a small maintenance panel near the 27th floor. With precise movements, he pried it open and slipped inside, landing silently in the ventilation shaft. The metal walls were vibrating slightly from the building's systems.

"Hope all goes well," he whispered to himself.

Navigating through the narrow shaft, Peter moved slowly, careful not to make a sound. He avoided security cameras by sticking to the darkest corners, his suit automatically adjusting its pattern to avoid taking unnecessary risks and detection. His spider-senses tingled lightly as he neared the main lab. He was getting close.

Peeking through a vent, he spotted the private lab below... Norman Osborn's personal research area. The room was dimly lit, filled with monitors displaying various projects. One screen showed DNA sequences, another displayed test results of the Goblin Serum. A third screen had a video paused with one of the test subjects, thrashing violently in a containment unit before the footage abruptly cut off.

Peter felt a chill run down his spine. Whatever they were working on, it was uncontrollable as it was dangerous.

He carefully removed the vent cover and dropped silently into the room, landing on the balls of his feet. His eyes scanned the lab, looking for anything new. He moved to the main computer, typing quickly as he searched through the files.

He skimmed over reports on failed Super Soldier Serum experiments, all based on animal DNA. Subjects had gained strength, but at a terrible cost like unstable mutations, increased aggression, and, in most cases, complete biological failure.

Then, he opened the most recent Goblin Serum report.

Strength Enhancement: 14 tons

Healing Factor: Accelerated recovery

Durability: Protective scales forming over skin

Sensory Boost: Heightened perception

Mental Side Effects: Increased aggression, paranoia, violent tendencies

Peter frowned. "This is a recipe for disaster."

He clicked on the most recent video file. A test subject sat in a secure chamber, injected with the Goblin Serum. At first, the man looked normal. Just breathing heavily, clutching his arms. But within seconds, his muscles twitched, veins darkened, and his eyes widened in an unnatural way. Then he screamed.

Peter flinched as the subject thrashed against the restraints, his voice turning into a distorted growl. His teeth sharpened, his skin hardened, and his fingers curled into claws. The man's screams turned to laughter... wild, unhinged laughter. After which, he suddenly collapsed, unconscious. The video ended.

Before Peter could process what he had just seen, his spider-sense flared violently.

Footsteps.

Someone was coming.

Moving on instinct, Peter leaped onto the ceiling, pressing himself flat against the metal beams. His eyes darted to the entrance. The lab door slid open, and Norman Osborn entered, followed closely by one of the senior staff, Dr. Castle.

Peter slowed his breathing, using his rapid adaptability to calculate their line of sight and suit to camouflage himself. He stayed perfectly still, shifting only when necessary to avoid detection.

Norman walked to the central lab station, rolling up his sleeve. "Let's not waste time, Castle. Give me the next dose."

Dr. Castle hesitated. "Mr. Osborn, the ReGen Serum has stopped working. We've administered eight doses, and..."

"Just do it," Norman snapped.

Castle sighed and prepared the injection. He pressed the needle into Norman's arm, injecting the serum. They waited.

Nothing happened.

Norman clenched his fist, staring at his reflection in the dark computer screen. His jaw tightened. "It's useless now, isn't it?"

Castle shifted uncomfortably. "It appears so. ReGen serum isn't potential enough to heal the symptoms of the Osborne disease."

Norman closed his eyes, inhaling sharply before turning back to Castle. "Tell me about the Goblin Serum."

Castle straightened, flipping through a tablet. "The enhancements have been stabilized. Strength is increased. Healing is rapid. The protective scales are forming earlier in the process. Sensory enhancements have also improved."

"And the drawbacks?"

Castle hesitated. "Subjects have shown… severe psychological changes. Increased aggression. In some cases, complete mental instability."

Peter watched Norman carefully. He expected him to be worried, but instead, the man smiled. Not just any smile... a wide, unnatural grin. His fingers twitched slightly as he looked at his reflection again.

"Power," Norman whispered to himself. "Just power is enough."

Castle cleared his throat. "Sir, there's also a legal issue. The ReGen Serum was approved for mass production, but Dr. Connors hasn't transferred full rights to Oscorp. That means our profits are being cut in half. And since the Goblin Serum is modified based on the ReGen Serum, we might not have full control over its rights either."

Peter saw something shift in Norman's eyes. His face twitched, his grin flickering in and out like a broken mask. He turned to the mirror again, staring at his own reflection. For a moment, it was as if he was seeing someone else staring back at him.

Then, slowly, the grin returned.

"We'll deal with Connors soon enough," Norman said softly, almost too calmly.

Peter felt his stomach tighten. He had seen enough.

Silently, he moved toward the ceiling vent, carefully pulling himself inside. He crawled through the ducts, retracing his path out of the building. As he slipped out into the night air, he felt the weight of everything he had just learned pressing down on him.

Norman Osborn wasn't just experimenting with danger. He was embracing it.

I need to get a complete evaluation on him A.S.A.P, Peter thought as he swung away from Oscorp.
