Dante's POV
"Relax, bro," I told Onyx, who was restless about the servant.
"She's our mate," he said coolly.
I asked, "Who, her?"
Onyx confirmed, and he asked, "No objections?" Why aren't you arguing?
I clarified, "I prioritize a useful mate over physical appearance. A powerful Luna signifies strength."
Onyx joked, "Here comes the strong Luna and Alpha speech."
I reassured him, "Appearance isn't a problem; my sister can help."
Onyx advised, "Don't waste time with arrangements."
I agreed, "Yeah, sure."
Dahlia's POV
"Why does that man keep glaring at me?" I thought to myself as I saw a man seated across from me. He exuded an aura of danger, his rugged beauty tempered by an air of menace. His inky black hair was messy and tousled, adding to his devil-may-care charm. His eyes, dark and unfathomable, seemed to bore into my very soul, their intensity making my heart skip a beat. His sharp cheekbones and full lips only added to his allure, making him a captivating and terrifying presence. His broad shoulders and muscular build, evident even under his fitted attire, seemed to radiate power, making his stillness all the more unsettling.
I spun around, my eyes wide with shock, as Nyx's voice whispered in my ear, "That's our second mate."
"What?!" I exclaimed, my voice barely above a whisper.
My gaze drifted back to the mysterious stranger, and I felt my heart stutter. He was drop-dead gorgeous, with chiselled features that put even the most flawless sculptures to shame. Nothing, and I mean nothing, like Asher, I thought with a dismissive roll of my eyes. Nyx's giggles echoed beside me, no doubt amused by my obvious disdain for Asher.
Asher's POV
"I'd like to take one of your maidens, Dahlia, back to my pack," I said, my eyes locked on the Alpha.
The Alpha raised an eyebrow. "How long do you plan on keeping her?"
I frowned, my tone firm. "As long as I want."
The Alpha's expression turned stern. "I'm afraid that's not possible. She's required for an important event, and after that...let's just say she won't be returning."
I sensed a hint of mystery and intrigue in the Alpha's words, piquing my curiosity. What could this event be, and why was Dahlia's presence so crucial?
"What event?" I pressed, curiosity getting the better of me.
The Alpha's expression turned cryptic. "All in good time."
I frowned, unsatisfied with the response. "She'll be staying with me for a month."
The Alpha raised an eyebrow. "Three weeks, maximum."
I hesitated before nodding. "Fine, but she leaves with me now."
The Alpha nodded curtly. "As you wish."
"Very good," I stated, my tone firm as I turned my back and walked away.
Dahlia's POV
As I daydreamed about my mysterious new mate, Nyx's giggles interrupted my reverie. "You're smitten, aren't you?" she teased.
Before I could respond, a knock at the door broke the spell. I rose to answer it, curiosity getting the better of me.
"The Alpha requests your presence," a servant announced briskly, before turning on their heel and disappearing.
I exchanged a bewildered glance with Nyx. "Huh? What could he want?"
Nyx's expression turned thoughtful. "Let's hope it's nothing serious. What's the worst that could happen, right?"
As I entered the Alpha's office, his words hit me like a ton of bricks.
"Pack your belongings, Dahlia. You'll be departing with Asher Thorn, Alpha of the Blue Moon Pack."
I stood frozen, my jaw hanging open in shock.
Nyx's timid voice whispered in my mind, "Oops."
I shot her a wry glance. "See, you jinxed it."
Nyx's response was laced with apology. "Sorry."
I took a deep breath, trying to process the unexpected turn of events. What did the Alpha have planned, and why was I being sent away with Asher Thorn?
Nyx offered a sympathetic ear, "I guess today's not your day, sorry about that."
I trudged back to my room, my mind reeling. Nyx broke the silence.
"You don't look happy," she observed.
I scoffed, "Of course I'm not. Why should I be? My life is being turned upside down."
Nyx's tone turned optimistic. "Let's look on the bright side. You've always dreamed of leaving the pack, and now you're getting the chance."
I raised an eyebrow, uncertainty gnawing at me. "Yeah, but at what cost? Who knows what Asher's got planned?"
Nyx shrugged. "We won't know what's in store until we leave, right? Let's just wait and see."
I nodded, taking a deep breath as I continued packing my belongings. A sense of determination washed over me.
Before long, Asher's harsh tone cut through the air. "Get in the car."
I ignored his gruff demeanour and slid into the vehicle, refusing to let him intimidate me.
The drive was eerily silent. Asher tapped away on his screen, the only sounds being the hum of the engine, the occasional passing vehicle, and the soothing whispers of nature.
Exhaustion soon caught up with me, and I drifted off to sleep. However, my nap was short-lived, as one of Asher's servants jolted me awake. Asher's mocking laughter echoed through the air, making my face flush with annoyance.
As I stepped out of the car, I was struck by the grandeur before me. The exterior of the building gleamed with a shimmering glass facade that reflected the vibrant lights of the city. A private elevator, adorned with sleek black marble and a silver wolf insignia, provided exclusive access to the penthouse suite.
I followed Asher into the apartment, and my eyes widened in awe. The interior was breathtakingly beautiful, a far cry from the rustic charm of our pack house.
The space is furnished with sleek, modern furniture in rich, dark tones, accented with pops of silver and black. A massive, custom-made fireplace, crafted from polished black granite, anchors the room
The apartment is infused with a subtle, musky scent, which serves as a reminder of the pack's primal nature
The walls are adorned with abstract art pieces, featuring bold, geometric shapes, and metallic accents
A custom-designed, black onyx table in the dining room serves as a focal point, reflecting the city lights, and creating a mesmerising display
I was still taking in the view of the pack house when Asher's condescending tone grated on my nerves. "If you have time to lounge around, you could use that energy to help the pack. This place could use some cleaning."
He turned on his heel and left, leaving me seething.
"That arrogant boy," Nyx growled, her anger mirroring mine.
I placed a calming hand on my heart, soothing Nyx's frazzled emotions. "Let's not let him get under our skin, Nyx. We'll just ignore him and focus on ourselves."
Nyx exhaled a deep sigh, slowly calming down.
Finally, we arrived at our room, a peaceful sanctuary from the tension Asher had sparked.
