Kiseki woke up confused. He was in his crib when he swore he had been at the Hokage Monument, admiring the view. Before he could process what had happened, he heard footsteps, and when he turned around, he saw his mother entering the room.
"Finally awake, sleepyhead!" Mebuki said with a smile as she kissed him on the forehead.
Kiseki happily accepted the kiss but then, with a confused expression, asked:
"Mama, weren't we at the Hokage Monument?"
Mebuki chuckled softly.
"You fell asleep, love. It's surprising you didn't take a nap yesterday. Come on, it's time for lunch."
Kiseki, still confused, thought to himself: God, I keep forgetting that I'm in the body of a baby. My mind seems to be getting dumber. I need to concentrate. I can't lose my memories of the future, or I'll be dead.
Seeing the serious expression on her son's face, Mebuki became worried.
"Are you okay, love?"
Kiseki, realizing his mistake, quickly responded:
"It's nothing, mom. Let's go have lunch."
Mebuki, still suspicious, decided not to push it. She picked him up in her arms and carried him to the kitchen.
Kiseki sat at his chair, watching as his mother brought him his plate. It was the same as always—vegetables. Kiseki wrinkled his face, but remembering how furious his mother could get if he didn't eat them, he quickly changed his expression to avoid being scolded.
Mebuki, seeing all the expressions on her baby's face, simply laughed.
After finishing his meal, Kiseki, with a hopeful tone, asked:
"Can I go play at the park?"
His mother hesitated, but before she could say anything, she heard her husband:
"I'll go with him, love," Kizashi said.
Mebuki nodded, although still concerned.
"Alright, but be careful."
Kiseki smiled brightly and ran off to change. Before leaving, his father called out:
"Make sure to put on your collar, Kiseki!"
The child came downstairs dressed, and it was the first time he had dressed himself. When his parents saw him, they couldn't help but laugh and told him that he had put everything on wrong.
Kiseki, embarrassed, thought to himself: Of course it's all wrong, I'm two years old. What did they expect?
Before he could think more, his father took him in his arms.
"Come with me, I'll dress you properly."
Fifteen minutes later, Kiseki was dressed in the new clothes his parents had bought him the day before, along with his peacock mask.
His mother looked at him and said with affection:
"You look beautiful!" and gave him a big hug as she said goodbye at the door.
As Kiseki and Kizashi walked through the village, Kizashi asked his son:
"Where do you want to go?"
Kiseki, with a smile, answered:
"I want to go to the park to play with other kids."
"Okay," Kizashi said, happy to see his son so excited.
A few minutes later, they arrived at a beautiful plaza with playgrounds. Kizashi bought a dango for Kiseki, who, while eating it, thought: Now I understand why Itachi loves dango.
Kiseki saw several children playing and decided to approach them. They all greeted him. It was worth noting that most of them were around 4 or 5 years old, which was unusual, since seeing a 2-year-old in the plaza wasn't common. Some parents asked Kizashi if he was sure about letting his son play with older kids.
Kizashi, proudly, responded:
"Don't worry. My son is very smart, he even knows how to read."
The parents were stunned, commenting amongst themselves.
While Kizashi was bragging about his son, Kiseki was playing happily with the other kids, but his mind didn't stop reflecting: At first glance, they're all civilians. It's not worth forming a close bond with them. They'll probably die in the Kyūbi attack. I shouldn't get too close to anyone before that event, I don't want to feel sad if I lose them.
While playing, he continued thinking: As I walked through the village, I paid close attention to the ninja clans. I was surprised to see so many Senju. I thought their clan had been wiped out or disappeared, like in the original story. I also saw several members of the Hatake clan, which surprised me since they weren't really mentioned much in the series. After all, we only knew about Sakumo and his son, Kakashi.
Suddenly, the sky darkened, and he felt his father calling him.
"Kiseki, it's time to go home before your mother worries."
Kiseki nodded and, while walking home with his father, thought about everything he had observed in the plaza.
When they got home, Mebuki greeted them with a fierce look.
"Kizashi Haruno! How could you come so late with Kiseki? Don't you see he's only two years old? He could catch a cold with this weather! And look at him, all dirty!"
Before Kiseki could defend his father, Mebuki grabbed him by the clothes with one hand and said:
"Come with me, young man. It's bath time, and then bed."
Kizashi, seeing his wife's expression, couldn't help but laugh. But before he could enjoy the moment, Mebuki shot him a deadly look. He sighed internally, accepting his fate of getting scolded for bringing Kiseki home so late while bragging about him to the other parents.
