Chapter 31 - Chapter 31 - In Motion

Inside a room on the top floor of building 7 of the apartment complex, a boy with red hair with dark streaks and black eyes sat on a chair while a girl who shared similar resemblance with shoulder length red hair and deep blue eyes lay casually on the king sized bed.

"So Theodore you saw our brother today right?". The red haired girl asked the boy, Theodore.

"Yeah," Theodore replied, his voice dripping with his usual arrogance as he leaned back in his chair, his black eyes glinting with amusement.

"I saw him. Little Nathan's grown bolder that's for sure. Even that bitch was there, as always sticking her nose where it doesn't belong."

The girl on the bed, Stella, smirked, her deep blue eyes sparkling with mockery.

"Oh, you mean that bitch from the Denoir House? Natasha was it?" She asked, her tone teasing as she twirled a strand of her red hair around her finger.

Theodore nodded, his expression darkening for a moment before he forced it back into his usual expression of arrogance. "Yeah, her. Always meddling in things that have nothing to do with her. It's honestly quite annoying."

Stella let out a laugh, the sound sharp and mocking. "Those two. They've still got guts don't they?" She said, her voice lilting with amusement.

"Have they already forgotten what happened to poor Liza already."

Theodore burst out laughing, his laughter even louder and more derisive than Stella's.

"Oh, poor Liza," he said, his tone dripping with sarcasm. "What a tragedy that was. But you know what they say—some people never learn."

Stella's smirk widened, and she shifted on the bed, propping herself on one elbow. "So, what are you going to do about it? Let Nathan and that bitch keep strutting around like they own the place?"

Theodore's expression hardened, his black eyes narrowing. "Oh don't worry," he said, his voice cold.

"I'll send some goons after him. Teach him a lesson. If I do it myself, it'll be too obvious. But a little... accident? That'll do the trick."

Stella laughed again, the sound echoing through the room. "You always know how to handle things, Theo," she said, her tone dripping in amusement.

She then patted the spot next to her on the bed, her smirk turning into a sly smile. "Now, come here. You've had a long day. Let's... relax."

Theodore's lips curled up into a smirk as he stood up, his movements slow and deliberate.

He began to unbutton his shirt, his eyes never leaving Stella's. "You always did know to make me feel better, Stel," he said, his voice low.

He finished undressing and reached over and turned off the light, plunging the room into darkness.

The only sound remaining was the soft rustling of sheets as he climbed into the bed beside Stella, their laughter still lingering in the air like a dark promise.

*********

In a dimly lit alleyway, the faint glow of a flickering streetlamp cast long shadows across the pavement, the faint sounds of footsteps echoed.

A lone figure paced back and forth, their movements restless, their breath visible in the chilly air.

The faint glow of a single overhead light cast long shadows across the alley, illuminating the figure's anxious expression.

They glanced at the entrance to the alleyway repeatedly, their impatience growing with each passing second.

Finally, the sound of approaching footsteps broke the silence. Three figures emerged from the darkness, their forms cloaked in heavy, dark robes that obscured their faces.

The first figure—the one pacing earlier— stopped abruptly and turned to face them, their voice tinged with irritation.

"What took you so long?" their tone sharp, but hushed, as if afraid of being overheard.

One of the newly arrived figures stepped forward, ignoring the question entirely. Their voice was calm, almost dismissive, as they spoke. "Do you have the information we requested?"

The first figure hesitated for a moment, their exasperation evident in the way their shoulders tensed.

But they said nothing, instead they reached into their coat, pulling out a small flash drive.

They held it out, their hand trembling slightly before placing it onto the outstretched hand of the figure who had spoken.

"Everything you need to know is in there," they said, their voice quieter now, almost submissive.

The second figure examined the flash drive for a moment before nodding slowly.

"The Order is pleased with your work," they said, their tone condescending, as if they were addressing a child rather than an equal.

Without another word, all three figures turned around and disappeared into the shadows, their footsteps fading into silence.

The first figure, left alone once more, sighed as he muttered. "I hope it's enough. Really I do."

They then turned and walked away, their footsteps echoing softly against the ground.
