Chapter 5 - A boat cruise to confusion

As I sang and hummed, I skipped and waltzed past the balcony, feeling carefree. But my joy was short-lived, as I caught sight of the boss' house and saw him standing with Davis and another man, who was kneeling with his arms folded. I felt a shiver run down my spine.

I tried to get a better look, but one of the bodyguards approached me and told me the boss wanted me to go inside. I reluctantly agreed and went back to my house, feeling a bit annoyed.

As I settled into my room, I couldn't shake off the feeling that something was off. Why was the boss being so secretive about his name? And why was everyone around him so obedient? They feared him.

Just as I was starting to drift off to sleep, I was jolted awake by the sound of Davis's voice. He told me we had to leave in 15 minutes

"So early?" I groaned as I got up from the bed

"It's almost noon ma'am" I jolted up from bed and I quickly got dressed.

As we drove to our destination, I couldn't help but feel a bit overwhelmed by the luxurious surroundings.

"Thanks, Davis," I said, and he promptly opened the door, offering me a hand to help me out of the vehicle. I noticed that the boss had ridden in a different car, part of the impressive entourage that had accompanied us. As he stepped out of his vehicle, I caught a glimpse of a woman sitting in the car, but before I could get a good look, the door closed, leaving me wondering who she was.

We arrived at a beautiful white building with the name "CRUZE" emblazoned on it, and I was greeted by Cassie, who handed me a shopping bag with a dress for the boat cruise.

"What's this?" I asked, feeling a bit surprised.

"Your dress for the cruise, ma'am," Cassie replied with a smile. Cassie chimed in, "You're not properly dressed for the cruise."

I shot the Davis a stern glance. "Well, I wasn't informed," I said, my tone slightly accusatory.

I changed into the dress, feeling a bit self-conscious about its transparency. But as I emerged from the dressing room, I was greeted by James, who looked handsome and charming.

"You look stunning, Sandra," he said, his eyes locked on mine.

I felt a flutter in my chest as he offered me his arm, and we boarded the yacht together. As we set sail, I tried to relax and enjoy the beautiful scenery.

James offered me a glass of wine, and we sat down to talk. But as the conversation turned to his motivations for helping my family, I couldn't help but feel a bit frustrated.

"Why are you doing all of this?" I asked, feeling a bit exasperated.

James smiled, his eyes crinkling at the corners. "Let's just say I'm a man who likes to take care of the people I care about."

I raised an eyebrow, feeling a bit skeptical. "And why do you care about us?"

James leaned in close, his voice dropping to a whisper. "I think you know why, Sandra."

I felt a shiver run down my spine as he gazed into my eyes. Suddenly, the air between us seemed charged with electricity.

As we sat there, the tension between us grew thicker. James reached out and brushed a strand of hair behind my ear, his fingers grazing my skin.

I felt a jolt of desire, and my heart began to pound in my chest. James leaned in closer, his lips inches from mine.

"You're so beautiful, Sandra," he whispered, his breath sending shivers down my spine.

I felt like I was melting into his eyes, my resistance crumbling. Just as our lips were about to touch, a voice called out James's name, and he looked up to see the lady from the car standing behind him.

I felt a pang of surprise and annoyance - who was this woman, and why was she here?

As James turned to face the lady, I couldn't help but feel a bit confused and frustrated. What was going on here? And why did I feel like I was stuck in the middle of some complicated game?
