I have to admit, I love playing this game. When I'm bored, I like to pretend to be someone I'm not. Like, right now, I'm just a sales attendant at a phone store. But the truth is, I'm so much more than that.
My family's wealthy, ridiculously wealthy. We're talking private jets, luxury cars, and mansions kind of wealthy. But I've never been comfortable with all that. I hate the pretentiousness, the superficiality. I just want to be me, without all the expectations and pressures that come with being a member of the wealthy elite.
So, when I'm feeling bored or restless, I like to slip into a different persona. I'll take on a new identity, just for kicks. Like, I'll be a sales attendant, or a waiter, or even a street performer. It's exhilarating, you know? To be someone else, just for a day,And that's how I met Sandra. I was working at the phone store, just playing the part, and she came in. I was immediately drawn to her, but I knew I had to keep up the act. I couldn't reveal my true identity to her, not yet. I wanted to see if she'd fall for me, for who I really am, not just my wealth or status.
It's been a game, a fun little game, but I have to admit, it's getting harder to keep up the charade. I'm starting to feel like I'm living a lie, and I'm not sure how much longer I can keep this up.
Ebuka plopped down on the sofa in Damola's living room. "She didn't accept you, huh? I thought she liked you," he said, shaking his head.
Damola sighed. "She does, but she doesn't trust me yet. We're just friends for now, until she feels comfortable enough to take things to the next level."
Just then, Toby, Damola's fake boss, burst into the room. "What's up, guys? What's popping?" he asked, jumping onto the sofa.
Ebuka filled him in. "She didn't accept him."
Toby's eyes widened. "Eh?! Because he's broke? I knew she'd be like the others. Why don't you just reveal your true identity to her?"
Damola shook his head. "It's not about money. She just doesn't trust me yet."
Toby nodded thoughtfully. "I get it. But maybe if you show her you're not just some average guy, she'll come around faster."
Damola frowned. "No way. I want to see if she'll stick around for who I am, not just my wealth. Remember what happened with those other girls? They ran away as soon as they found out I wasn't loaded."
Ebuka chimed in, "Yeah, and that Sandra girl is too beautiful to be alone for long. You'd better get lucky before someone else snatches her up."
Damola's phone vibrated, and he answered the call. "Hey, what's up? Can I come over?" he asked Sandra.
But Sandra had other plans. "Unfortunately, no. I thought I'd be free today, but plans changed."
Damola tried to persuade her, but she insisted she was busy. "You don't want me to meet your mom? I'm just your friend."
Damola laughed. "It's not that. I'm going somewhere with my mom, and we'll be back late. You can come over on Sunday. It's the perfect day for visits."
Sandra agreed, and Damola hung up the phone, flipping it onto the floor in frustration.
Toby raised an eyebrow. "What was that about?"
Damola scowled. "She's making up some stupid excuse about being busy. I was supposed to meet her at her place today."
Ebuka snorted. "I told you she's a gold digger. She's already running away from you."
Damola glared at him. "Ebuka, shut up and just get me a new phone, please."
Toby chuckled. "You can't shut him up, Damola."
Ebuka rushed out of the kitchen, laughing. "You can't shut me up!"
