Even if Dart Mountain Range is a harsh terrain full of walking life-ending threats, this place, just like every other places, also have their own peace-lovers aka the lowest of food chain.
Set aside the normal insects, there is an low-lever magical beast called Direct Goat; a goat magical beast that similar to mountain goat but have a habit to charge at any predator or enemy with all might, blindedly, at only one direction.
Their charge power is overwhelming even for their predator who evolve just for hunting them down.
However, because of their blinded charge, as long as you can predict their attack and avoid receiving any damage from their deadly charge, you can easily beat them down.
And they is my target for today food.
I recalling what I read from book.
"Direct Goat is usually found in any rocky mountains and sheer highlands, prefer to eat plants but sometimes also choose meats instead, liked high places so much, have strong legs, and..."
In other words, Direct Goat is upgraded version of Mountain goat, fantasy edition!
"Facing them in their territory is a bad choice..."
I use my right hand to protect my eyes from the luminating sunlight, glancing at the herd of Direct goats at the edge of javine high afar.
They currently is climbing the javine for some plants growing among the stones up there.
"What a brave goats..."
Hunting them in sheer terrain like that not just difficult but also would bring death to me.
"I should somehow bait and led them to the mountain area that will advantaging me instead."
I can also use oh-you-lost-your-parachute plan, makes them charge at me and let them jump right at the mouth of the javine to suicide.
"But..."
Set aside all these plans...
I take a glance to my katana at my back.
I don't have any weapon.
While it's seems safe to hunting the Direct Goats as long as I did it carefully, no one know what would happen when I really running the plan.
Facing an fully muscled and fantasified Goat with no weapon is still risky.
As tackling for any unexpected situations, I'd have to finding something that can be used as an temporary weapon.
I am looking at my surroundings, searching for everything that looked useable as weapon.
"Stone..." I furrow my brow, "... And stone."
I can't even find a branch in this place.
Sighing, I take a thought for a moment.
Inhaling and exhaling breath, I slap my cheeks, set my mind.
"Sword technique is centered and borned from the body!"
I turned my back at the Direct Goats afar, walked at the direction of a narrow area I found before, and began to setting my preparation for the hunt.
First, I lay my katana somewhere hidden and covering it among the stones.
Second, I'd relinquishing the Dew booms to the river near beneath the previous narrow area.
And with the now empty leafy bag, I fill it up with a sharp looking stones I founded.
"Alright..."
I clenching my right hand and rise it, directing my fist at the herd of Direct Goats climbing the javine side like an climbing maniacs afar.
"I am ready."
The hunt is begin!
I stepping closer to the javine left edge side, looking for a target.
Glancing one to another ones of Direct Goats afar, I gauging their physiques, trying to finding the easier target among them.
And, after about 20 minutes of observing, I found it; my target.
It is a teenage Direct Goat who difficultly climbing the javine stone side.
I examining my surroundings, found a stable spot, randomly gather a stone scattered around, and thrown the stone to my target.
Direct Goat is an aggressive magical beast race.
If provocated, there is no way they would ignore it.
The Direct Goat seems to flinched and almost fall because of the stone hitted it's buttock.
It looking around, searching the culprit.
And then, it found the culprit—me.
"MMMBBBEEE—"
Before it can scream and alerting it's friends, I throw a stone at it once more, precisely hit it's head.
"...!!!"
It stunned, looked so angry at me.
I simply smiled, signaling it to come at me.
Magical beast is already enchanted by natural Mana and have more intelegences than their normal animal friends.
I don't know whether it's because it understand my signal or not but it humphing, take a stance with furious Goat face.
I set back my surious face, focus at it's body every movement, take a stance to evade it's incoming charge.
I take a long breath, strengthen my body.
"Come on!"
Right at that very moment.
It's coming.
The charge!
The Direct Goat kicking the stone sheer surface.
It running at me with anger at the very high speed.
From it's first position in 300+ meters away, it is only take a minute for it to shrinking the distances between us to just 120 meters, and it still accelerating.
I widened my eyes, astonished by it's overwhelming speed.
Now!
I grit my teeth, forcing my tensed body to move and evade the incoming charge.
Time seemed to slow down.
My body felt so heavy and moving among a muddy swamp while the Direct Goat crushing the stones surface it stepped in an deadly momentum.
My body shank at the sea of threat when I barely avoid the charge.
W-what a ridiculous being...!
I use every strength I have to evade, so I can't even manage to maintain my balance and stumbled at the stone surface.
"Akk!"
I heard an loud sound of explosion from my behind.
The Direct Goat should be hit against the big stone behind before.
I wipe my painful body, stood as quickly as I can.
Turning at my behind, I glancing at the dust mist covering the surroundings, gulped in expectation and vigilance.
"Did it died?"
I shudder, realized the consequences behind my words.
—!!
"W-what... What did I do!?"
Th-that's a bad flag...
I quickly cover my mouth, take a step back.
Gulp.
After some times, the dust mist eventually faded up.
The Direct Goat... Is not moving at all.
"Hoo!"
It lay limply among the scattered bunch of stones by it's charge, soaked with blood at it's head.
Just when my body started to relaxed, when I am about to sighing in relief.
At that moment.
Stump!
The Direct Goat stood up.
Steam come out from it's blooded mouth.
It's eyes bloodshoted, glaring at me in fury mingling with abjection.
Stumb! Stumb! Stumb!
Step, step, step, then here is it, the Direct Goat, with it's blooded body, stood in menacing posture.
It's intention is so clear as clear as the sky itself.
It wouldn't stop until me or it died.
"..."
I sharpening my eyes, calming my shaked mind.
I take out a sharp stone from my leafy bag, taking a stance, ready to swing at any time.
Stumb!
With it's heavy step, the Direct Goat letting out a bunch amount of stream, sneering and preparing for another charge despite it's condition.
I glance at the narrow area I prepared before, signing.
It seems that I wouldn't use it now.
With this Direct Goat's wounded state, I don't think it still have any monstrous strength anymore.
Even if my place now is not the best place to facing this monster, I am sure that killing it here and right now is better than let it build any momentum to attack me once more.
"Fiuh~"
I grab the sharp stone in two hand, take a stance to use the Hitoe first petal.
I looked at my hands.
My hands it trembling.
When I see it, I realized that I am scared now.
Scared of this damned sheep.
Dammit...
I grit my teeth, stopping my trembling hands.
Scared? It's normal. After all, this is the first time I confront a magical beast after transmigrated. So... Don't too shaked. Calm, stay calm.
It is different from the training.
All the attack and the threat is so blatant and direct now.
I forced to realized that I would die if I am hitted by that charge.
The danger soaking my body.
It's scary... So scary.
It is not training—It is real battle.
Despite my efforts to stop it, my body keep trembling.
And then... I am frozed.
"H-hah?"
I can't move.
In front of this monster, I, in fear, can't move.
N-no, n-no way...
I looked at the Direct Goat.
It would charge at me in any time now.
And.
It moved.
It is charged.
At me, with it's formidable strength.
I would died!
But.
At that moment.
I felt a gentle pat at my head.
"Move, my disciple."
My body moved at it's own will before I even can proceed the voice whispered at me.
My vision blurred.
What I can see at that time is the approaching Direct Goat, my sharp stone swinged at it's face, and plum blossom petals... Many of them.
Mirroring the fleeting pace of how days passing by without waiting any one, I moved in a very fast speed, slicing the Direct Goat in two.
