Chapter 8 - Chapter 8: Unhinged Flirting

The pain wouldn't stop. It only got worse, like his whole body was breaking apart. Felix gritted his teeth, sweat dripping down his face. He was curled up on the floor, holding his arms tightly.

He couldn't take it anymore. He had to do something. Then it hit him. The pain always seemed to disappear when Kelvin was happy with him.

Maybe… maybe that was the answer. He had to fix things with Kelvin. He had to apologize.

Felix dragged himself up, still shaking from the pain. His legs felt weak, but he pushed through. He went out of his room, each step towards Kelvin's door feeling heavier than the last. When he got there, he hesitated. His hand hovered over the door, his chest tightening.

But the burning wouldn't stop, and he knew he didn't have a choice. He knocked softly, his voice barely a whisper.

"Kelvin… can I talk to you?"

There was silence. For a moment, Felix thought Kelvin wouldn't answer. Maybe he was asleep. Maybe he didn't want to talk. But then, the door creaked open.

Kelvin stood there, his face blank, but his eyes showed a mix of confusion and something else Felix couldn't figure out.

"What is it, Felix?" Kelvin asked, sounding calm but distant.

Felix's throat felt dry, and his heart was pounding. "I… I just wanted to say I'm sorry. For earlier. For everything. Please don't be mad at me."

Kelvin stared at him, not saying a word. The silence was suffocating, and Felix felt like the ground would give way beneath him.

Just as quickly as he felt it, Felix's legs gave out, and his vision became blurry as the pain took over him. He lost balance, his body about to hit the floor when Kelvin's arms shot out, catching him just in time.

"Felix!" Kelvin said, his voice louder now, alarmed.

Felix looked up at him, his face soaked with tears. His trembling hands gripped Kelvin's shirt tightly, holding on like his life depended on it. "Tell me you don't hate me!" he sobbed. "Tell me you're not mad at me!"

Kelvin froze for a moment, unsure of what to do. Felix's unfiltered emotions hit him harder than he expected. He sighed deeply, his usual stern look softening.

"Felix," Kelvin said quietly, his voice steady but still with a hint of frustration. "I don't hate you. And no, I'm not mad at you... not the way you think."

Felix blinked up at him, his breathing uneven. "Then why... why were you acting like that?"

Kelvin sighed again and looked away for a second, like he was choosing his words carefully. "I was angry because you didn't trust me enough to tell me the truth. I thought... I thought we were closer than that."

The words hit Felix hard. His chest ached, but this time it wasn't just from the curse. "I'm sorry," he whispered, his voice cracking.

Kelvin's gaze softened even more, and he nodded. "It's okay. Just... stop hiding from me, okay?"

Felix clung to him, still crying, but the burning pain in his body started to fade. He felt a small spark of relief, knowing that Kelvin didn't hate him after all.

Felix stayed in Kelvin's arms for a while longer, the warmth and comfort calming him completely.

The pain that had been unbearable moments ago now felt like a memory of the past. They stood there in perfect silence, neither of them saying a word, just breathing in the quiet.

But then, all at once, Felix realized how close they were. His face turned red as he noticed Kelvin's arm still wrapped tightly around his waist. The intimacy of the moment hit him like a wave.

He tried to step back, gently pushing at Kelvin's chest. "I'm fine now," Felix said with a nervous smile, his voice quiet. "Really. We should, uh, separate. If one of the kids sees us like this…"

Kelvin didn't move. His grip stayed tight around Felix, holding him in place. He shifted his head slightly, a teasing look in his eyes. "Zach and Mitchell are asleep," he whispered, his voice low and playful. "And Grey? He's busy in the basement studio. No one's going to see us."

Felix's heart skipped a beat at Kelvin's tone. He smiled awkwardly, unsure of what to do, and muttered, "Yeah, but still…" His words trailed off, caught between embarrassment and something else he couldn't quite name.

Everything Felix was saying felt like water being poured on a rock because Kelvin wasn't listening

Felix was starting to get annoyed. He didn't like being touchy, especially when it wasn't his choice. Kelvin wasn't letting go, and Felix felt his patience wearing thin. He wasn't a fan of physical contact, and this was pushing his limits.

But then a thought hit him—a mischievous one. If Kelvin wanted to play stubborn, fine. Two could play this game.

Felix's lips curled into a sly smirk, and he decided to lean into the situation. Slowly, he wrapped his arms around Kelvin's neck, pulling himself even closer. He tilted his head slightly and looked up at Kelvin with half-closed eyes, his expression suddenly changing to something… playful, seductive even.

Kelvin stiffened immediately. Felix felt it. The way Kelvin's entire body tensed up made Felix's smirk grow wider. He was winning now, and it was hilarious.

Felix let one of his fingers lightly trace a random pattern on Kelvin's shirt, his voice dropping to a teasing tone. "What's wrong, leader?" he asked softly. "Getting nervous, are we?"

Kelvin's swallowed hard, clearly caught off guard. Felix leaned in just a bit closer, his voice dripping with fake sweetness. "Maybe I should call you something cuter, huh? Like… babe?"

Kelvin's face flushed, and Felix almost burst out laughing. But he held it together, enjoying the rare sight of Kelvin completely flustered. Felix's finger continued to lightly trace lines on Kelvin's chest, as if suggesting something far more intimate.

Kelvin finally snapped out of it, his hands flying off Felix's waist as he stepped back quickly, his face still red. "What the hell are you doing, Felix?" Kelvin asked, his voice sounding anything but confident.

Felix just shrugged, grinning like he'd won the lottery. "What? I thought you liked holding me so much. I was just playing along."

Kelvin didn't respond right away, and Felix could see how embarrassed he was. That alone was worth all the awkwardness earlier.

Then Kelvin crossed his arms and scoffed. "I'm straight as a ruler. Feeling something for you is just.... unconventional"

"Unconven... what! When did you learn that word?" Felix grimaced at Kelvin's attempt to sound smart.

"I studied! While you were busy with Jean.." Kelvin said making a puke face.

Felix furrowed his brows, "don't you mean Jan?"

"His name isn't my business! I was saying... While you were being the IT couple with June, I was being a top student!" Kelvin retorted.

Felix scoffed and rolled his eyes at the older brunette. "Jean, June? Spoiling his name doesn't make you sound less jealous! I advice you not to fall for me."

Kelvin let out a dry laugh, running a hand through his locks. "Yeah, right. Like I'd fall for you." His voice was steady, but his eyes couldn't quite meet Felix's.

Felix raised a brow, leaning in a bit close with that teasing smirk. "You're really defensive, you know that? People only act like that when they've got something to hide."

Kelvin frowned, narrowing his eyes. "I'm not hiding anything. You're just annoying. Oh my goodness! How did we debut in the same group."

Felix stepped back, shrugging as if he didn't care. "Whatever you say, boss." But the way his lips curved into a knowing grin said otherwise.

Before Kelvin could fire back, Felix turned on his heel and started walking away. "Goodnight, Kel" he moved his shoulder sassily, his voice playful yet firm, leaving Kelvin stuck in in a place.

Kelvin stood there for a moment, staring after him. There was a strange, unsettling feeling in his chest, but he shoved it down. "Goodnight," he said under his breath, even though Felix was already gone.

As Felix closed the door to his room, he leaned against it, a small smile tugging at his lips. Kelvin was so easy to mess with. But deep down, Felix couldn't shake the thought—was he getting too close?

Kelvin, on the other hand, lay on his bed staring at the ceiling. For some reason, Felix's smug grin kept flashing in his head, and it was driving him crazy. "What's wrong with me?" he mumbled to himself, rolling over and burying his face in the pillow.

Neither of them could sleep that night, their thoughts moving into places they weren't ready to admit.
