Chapter 7 - Chapter 7: Don’t Miss Me

"Of course I'm worried!" Philip said, even though he was scared of Daniel's sharp stare. He was set on telling the truth. "Do you know what Rai did? He sneaked into the room alone, sat on the window ledge, and just stared outside. When I asked why he had an umbrella, he said Kate told him that if he jumped with it, he could fly! Who knows what would've happened if I hadn't saw him?"

Daniel's face turned serious, and his eyes burned with anger. "Kate is Rai's aunt. She's always been kind to him. Tell the servants to hide all the umbrellas in the house." He stopped when he realized he was defending Kate.

Philip, annoyed by Daniel's support for Kate, argued, "You should be careful around her. If she means harm, she'll…"

He paused when he saw Daniel's sharp look. With a sigh, he added, "Fine, forget everything I said."

Philip stormed out without waiting for a reply.

As he left, he nearly ran into Ashton, who was standing by the door.

"We have an emergency, Sir!" Ashton said in his deep voice.

As soon as Daniel heard Ashton's words, it made him irritated. He replied sharply, "Speak."

"Someone tampered with the alarm system, causing a security gap for about ten minutes. Our men searched the villa but didn't find anything suspicious," Ashton reported.

"Investigate what happened during those gaps. Strengthen the security system, and send someone to protect Rai!" Daniel ordered.

He felt restless, knowing the Wilson family used the best security system in the world, and such an incident had never happened before.

There were too many coincidences happening on the same day.

He then quickly added, "Check if the woman is involved."

"We haven't found anything suspicious. The woman is very secretive; we don't have any information about her. All we know is her name—Chantelle Bently..." Ashton immediately regretted after mentioning her name.

Everyone in Easthan knew it was a taboo to mention "Chantelle Bently" in front of Daniel.

He knew what would happen next.

She would be forced to leave Easthan, even though she was innocent.

"Chantelle Bently?" Daniel growled, his face twisted in anger.

Ashton quickly tried to fix the situation. "It's just a coincidence that they share the same name. They look so different!"

He couldn't believe that someone who had died five years ago could come back to life.

Besides, they didn't even look alike or have the same personalities.

"There's something off about her. I want a full investigation," Daniel said sharply.

He didn't think it was just a coincidence that a woman named Chantelle Bently was paying respects to Wesley.

Daniel suspected she was behind the security breach tonight.

Even though she didn't look like Chantelle, there was something strangely familiar about her.

Why does she make my heart race and made me feel suffocated? he thought.

"I understand." Ashton paused to read Daniel's expression before adding, "There's another issue. People have been spreading rumors about Ms. Kate today. It's all over social media now. Should we send our men to handle it?" He handed Daniel the tablet showing the news headlines.

Daniel glanced at the reports and tossed the tablet aside. "Don't bother me with something so small."

He was annoyed by those people who constantly reporting about Kate's misbehavior.

He knew her personality and habits well because she had been with him for so long.

"Yes, Sir," Ashton said with an apologetic tone.

Meanwhile, Kane couldn't fall asleep. He was too afraid that Chantelle might kidnap him if he sleep.

Feeling restless, he decided to sneak into Daniel's study to listen to their conversation.

Kane stood outside the door, trying to eavesdrop.

The door was so thick, though, that he couldn't hear much.

Only when he pressed his ear against the door could he catch a faint sound.

What a scumbag! How dare he check on Mommy? I won't let him hurt her.

Suddenly, Kane felt the door move. When it opened, he lost his balance and stumbled forward.

Luckily, Kane reacted quickly and grabbed onto someone's leg.

"What are you doing here, Rai?" Daniel's expression softened when he saw his son clinging to him.

He was surprised to see the young boy with his arms wide open, asking for a hug.

Railer seems to be getting closer to me now that he can speak. That's great! Daniel thought.

Kane quickly came up with a reason for being there, not wanting his father to know he had been eavesdropping.

He gave Daniel an innocent look and asked, "Can you sleep with me, Daddy?"

Kane remembered Philip saying that Railer and Daniel weren't very close.

While Daniel cared for his son, they still had trouble communicating.

Kane thought his request would be refused.

To his surprise, Daniel agreed. "Okay."

What's going on? Was Philip wrong? I thought Railer and Daddy weren't that close. Kane wondered.

Normally, Daniel wouldn't have agreed to Kane' request.

However, he decided to give it a try, thinking his son needed care and comfort after everything that had happened today.

Despite not wanting to sleep with his father, Kane chose to do it for his mother's sake.

The next morning, Chantelle was woken up by a text alert.

Reaching for her phone, she saw it was from Kane.

When she opened the message, she saw a picture of Daniel sleeping.

However, what caught her attention was a giant tortoise drawing on his face.

Just as she was enjoying the photo, another message arrived.

Mommy, the scumbag has sent someone to investigate you. Be careful since I'm not there to protect you. Don't worry, Mommy. I'll punch him if he tries to hurt or bully you.

A few seconds later, another message came in.

This time, Kane attached an adorable picture of himself and wrote, "I'll be back after making his life miserable for a few days. No need to worry about me. I can handle myself. Don't miss me. Love you!"

Chantelle smiled as she looked at the photo from Kane.

I've done a good job raising him. He misses me when we're apart.

Chantelle knew Daniel would send someone to check her background, so she took extra steps to ensure hackers could not find anything about her.

She also erased any evidence that she had been at the Wilson residence, including the traces left by the helicopter.
