** Episode 11 **
"Tell me, who did you stole it from before I call the cops on both of you?"
"What? We didn't steal it! It was his," she said, pointing at Min-Jun. "We're just trying to sell it due to some circumstances."
The man scrutinized Min-Jun, who was staring at the ground. He quickly pulled his cap down a bit more. The mask on his nose obscuring most of his face. She watch Min-Jun confusedly, wasn't sure why he was pulling such action.
"With the way you're looking, one could easily tell you're a thief." The man said. "Tell me, boy, where did you get it? Be honest, and I might consider letting you both go."
She watched him intently, waiting for a response, but was disappointed when he remained silent. He kept pulling his cap down even more and hiding his face.
The cops is definitely a bad idea, it could be a mess if his identity is review. He thought.
"I won't call the cops if you agree to sell it to me for that price. Out of the goodness of my heart, I can add an extra yuan, to it." He stated.
"Let's go," she said angrily, grabbing on the wristwatch and pulling Min-Jun arms but was stunned when Min-Jun pull back and said,
"Let's just sell it."
"Pardon!"
He took the wristwatch from her and handed it to the man, who quickly counted out the money and handed it to them.
"Let's go," Min-Jun urged, but she stood there in surprise, staring at him. He grabbed her hand and pulled her away, ignoring the man's selfish laughter as they left the shop. He thought of just selling it, find a way to call manager Ma so he can just go back to Kenya before the situation get out of hands.
They walked a few blocks before she forcefully pulled her hand from his, glaring at him. Not understanding Min-Jun acting, it was convincing enough to believe he really stole the watch. Was he lying about everything from the start?
"Tell me, did you steal that wristwatch just as he said?"
"You should just forget about it," he replied. " Let just split the money."
"Did you steal the wristwatch?" she pressed, her voice rising as she looked up at him.
"No! I just don't want to explain and you won't believe me even if I do, it'll only get me into trouble! Trust me, I didn't steal it. It was given to me by someone special, and I'd rather not expose that."
Listening to him yelling, explaining himself, she seemed relieved by his explanation.
"Let's go get something to eat first; I'm famished," he added, his nerve calming down.
At a restaurant, they sat outside, eating a bowl of Chinese delicacy and mango milkis. Even as they eat, she noticed Min-Jun was still having his cap on and was trying to hide his face. She found herself asking.
"Why do you always have that on, are you a celebrity or something?" She asked making Min-Jun choking a little on his food.
"What? D... do....I look like one?" he stuttered.
"Don't flatter yourself, you don't, not in anyway. I was only teasing you."
He was quite relief when he said that.
She shook her head looking at him with the cap still on. it was becoming quite annoying that she wanted so badly to just take it off. Kissing her teeth, she asked, "So, how will you contact your business partner6?"
"What business partner...'" he asked and quickly remembered, "Oh! right. I actually don't have any way to contact them. Even if I get a new phone, I don't have their number, and I've never met them before."
"You're right. Maybe you should just go back home," she suggested.
"That's true," Min-Jun murmured his exciting expression fading down. Talking about home, he actually wished he never run away, it could have been better he remain back there and face whatever judgment than this. Lost and wandering In a town he know no one and with nothing.
They further split the money evenly after eating and then she departed.
Min-Jun sat back, letting out a sigh. He looked at the money in his hand. It was barely enough to cover a week's stay at an average hotel, let alone food. How was he ever going to survive once the money ran out? He thought about getting a phone but he barely know anyone around and he definitely doesn't want to get robbed off again.
Ha-ri stood outside her apartment, ready to leave for the airport, her luggage by her side. The sun blazed overhead, but she patiently waited for Si-woon, wanting to do this one last thing for him. Despite the complicated feelings swirling inside her, she put on a bright smile, determined to mask the turmoil beneath. After all, this would be the final time she would see him, and she wanted to part on a good note.
Soon enough, Si-woon arrived, stepping out of his car with an apologetic smile. "Sorry I'm late." He said immediately he stepped off.
"It's okay, I just head out aswell," Ha-ri replied, her tone cheerful as she tried to keep the mood light. Si-woon helped her with her luggage, and they climbed into the car, the familiar route to the airport unfolds before them.
As they approached the terminal, Ha-ri quickly wave him good-bye. Any more minutes with him, she might unleash the hatred inside of her. "I have to go now," she said, "Take care of yourself, okay."
Si-woon nodded, his expression earnest. He opened his arms for a hug, but Ha-ri, wanting to keep things upbeat, ignore his spread arms, smiled and said, "Goodbye!"
"Goodbye," he echoed back, sad but with a warm smile.
Ha-ri turned to walk away, glancing back one last time as Si-woon waved at her, a bittersweet look in his eyes.
Kim Min-Jun stood in front of an average hotel, staring at the large sign board indicating the funny name of the hotel boldly written in Chinese and English character.
He exhaled, a place he never imagined he would find himself ever in one day. Looking at the money he's left with, he'd to manage until he's able to reach on manager Ma.
As he prepared to step inside, he felt a light tap on his shoulder. Turning around, he was stunned.
