Chapter 14 - Contract with benefits

Silas's POV

As soon as I heard Damon's words, I got up from the sofa and moved further away. Damon's eyes were fixed on me.

"What happened? Why are you getting so worked up?"

He's asking why I'm getting so worked up. Isn't it his fault for running a background check on me? And now my entire data is right in front of his eyes.

I feel like an open book right now, and I don't like it. I know he'll threaten me to work in his drama, but I won't fall for his damn trap.

I stepped forward, full of confidence, with my eyes locked on him.

"Mr. Damon, I don't know why you went to such lengths to get me to work in your drama that you ran a background check on me."

Hearing my words, there was no expression on his face. I couldn't understand what the hell that man was thinking.

He simply placed the black file on the table, stood up, and patted his coat, as if brushing off dust.

While looking into my eyes, he stepped forward and stood right in front of me.

"Silas, you don't know it, but you have all the qualities to become an actor... your attitude, your confident face, the way you talk like you're a king, and your beauty. If I had to sum it up in one word, you're perfect."

"I'm perfect?" I thought. Damon clearly doesn't have an eye for talent because I'm not perfect; I'm just an ordinary omega.

I looked up into Damon's eyes.

"Damon, whatever you say, I don't care. I'm not going to work in your drama. I don't even know anything about acting."

His eyes were scanning my facial expressions, and he suddenly chuckled, looking away.

Then, he glanced at me again and reached his hand to touch my cheek, but I dodged it because I didn't want him to touch me.

"Don't touch me."

I glared at Damon, but there was a smile on his lips, like he was expecting this answer from me.

"See? You're different, and you know that Ironclaw is our enemy pack, but we don't harm omegas."

Just then, a notification sound came from Damon's coat. He took out his phone, glanced at it, and then looked at me.

"I think this doesn't work on you, Silas... so how about I tell you some interesting news?"

I was already looking at him with a face that said, Is there anything left to say now?

"What interesting news are you talking about?"

I asked, because let's hear whatever he wants to say, and then I'm going to reject all his offers in the end.

"You know, your stepbrother also came to give an audition for this drama in my company. I guess he wants to be an actor."

My heart skipped a beat when I heard him.

Why does he want to be an actor? I think this is the first time I'm hearing this.

Did Dad and Zarek allow him to work in an enemy pack's entertainment company? Wow, I guess things sure have changed.

When I was 14 and told Dad I wanted to participate in a dance competition, he flat-out denied it, saying omegas have boundaries, and we need to live within them.

I guess those boundaries aren't for Ciel. He can do whatever he wants.

It's good that they're giving him freedom, but it feels unfair that they only show him this love and not me.

It's not like I'm hungry for their love—I don't care anymore—but it hurts seeing that he's applied for the drama in Damon's company.

"Damon, for which role did Ciel give an audition?"

I asked because Damon said he wanted to cast me as the main character, so if I agreed, I'd be the main character of the drama.

"For the villain."

As soon as I heard him, I scoffed.

"Indeed, this role suits him. And I'm ready to work with you."

I grinned and said, looking at Damon.

Damon's eyes widened in shock. He looked even happier than I was. Suddenly, he grabbed my waist with both hands and lifted me into the air. I was caught off guard because I didn't expect him to lift me up.

I placed both my hands on Damon's shoulders, just in case he couldn't handle my weight and might throw me.

"Damon, what kind of behavior is this? Put me down right now."

Hearing me, he realized he had shown his happiness a little too much and gently put me back on the ground.

"Sorry, I was just so happy after hearing that," Damon said, scratching the back of his head, his cheeks turning red.

"So, now let's talk about the contract," Damon said.

Later, we sat on the sofa, and Damon opened the black file. In that file, my contract was all ready. I just needed to sign it.

According to the contract, once I signed, I would have to work for Gold Era Entertainment Company for the next 10 years, and in the meantime, they would give me 60% of my payment.

I liked the contract because I also knew business, and contracts came with many benefits.

So, without wasting any time, I signed the contract and shook hands with Damon, because from today onward, he was my boss, and I was going to work as an artist in his company.

"Silas, first you'll attend acting classes, so let's go to the company now. You'll stay in the artist's dorm," Damon said.

Thank God he assigned me acting classes because I didn't know anything about acting at all. Staying in the dorm wasn't a bad idea either, so I nodded in agreement.

Damon stood up and

gestured with his finger for me to follow him. He left the mansion, and I followed behind him.
