Chereads / Boruto: The Tale Of The Brothers / Chapter 11 - The Rogue Rasengan

Chapter 11 - The Rogue Rasengan

Kikidori stood in the training field, his hands trembling with excitement and a hint of fear. Today was the day he finally mastered the Rasengan—or at least he hoped so. He'd watched Naruto perform it countless times, studied every hand movement, every bit of chakra control.

"Alright," Kikidori muttered to himself, wiping the sweat from his forehead. "I've got this. It's just a spinning ball of chakra. Nothing to it."

He focused, holding his hand out. Chakra swirled and spun in his palm, forming into an unstable sphere. The energy crackled, wobbled, and then solidified into a perfect Rasengan. Kikidori grinned.

"Hell yeah! I did it!"

But his celebration was cut short when the Rasengan in his hand suddenly grew unstable. It wobbled and pulsed wildly, and before Kikidori could react, it shot out of his hand like a missile.

His eyes widened in horror as the rogue Rasengan flew straight toward the ninja academy.

"Oh no, no, no, no!" Kikidori shouted, sprinting after it.

The Rasengan was fast—much faster than Kikidori had anticipated. He pushed his legs to their limit, jumping over fences and weaving through the streets of Konoha. People turned to stare as he bolted past them, yelling, "Move! Get out of the way!"

The spinning sphere of chakra was seconds away from slamming into the academy building. Kikidori knew he wouldn't make it in time to stop it… unless he did something reckless.

"Dammit," he muttered under his breath.

With a burst of speed, Kikidori jumped, putting himself directly in the Rasengan's path. The energy hit him square in the chest, sending him flying backward. He spiraled through the air, the force of the impact knocking the wind out of him.

He crashed into the Hokage Tower with a deafening *thud*, breaking through one of the upper floors before hitting the ground inside. Papers and furniture went flying in all directions.

Kikidori groaned, lying on the floor in a daze. His shirt was in tatters, a smoking hole burned into the fabric where the Rasengan had hit him. He glanced down at his chest to see a glowing scar, the chakra burn still fresh and searing with pain.

But to his surprise, the wound began to heal. The pain subsided as the scar faded, leaving only a faint mark on his skin. Kikidori sat up, blinking in disbelief.

"What… the hell?" he muttered, his voice hoarse.

"Kikidori!"

He turned to see Naruto standing in the doorway, his Hokage robe swaying as he rushed toward him. Naruto's eyes darted from the broken window to the ruined furniture and then to Kikidori's chest.

"What happened here?" Naruto asked, his voice a mix of concern and frustration. "Are you okay?"

Kikidori winced as he got to his feet, brushing off debris. "Yeah, I'm fine. I, uh… might've accidentally done a Rasengan and, well, lost control of it."

Naruto stared at him, his expression shifting to disbelief. "You *did* a Rasengan?"

"Yeah," Kikidori said sheepishly, scratching the back of his head. "It was my first time. Didn't think it'd go rogue like that."

Naruto's gaze shifted to the faint scar on Kikidori's chest. His expression darkened, a flicker of realization crossing his face.

"That scar," Naruto said quietly. "It healed fast… too fast."

Kikidori frowned. "What's wrong with that? I thought fast healing was a good thing."

Naruto didn't answer right away. Instead, he studied Kikidori carefully, his eyes narrowing. It was as if he was seeing something in Kikidori that Kikidori himself couldn't see.

"Does it have something to do with what Sasuke said about my chakra being weird?" Kikidori asked, crossing his arms.

Naruto stiffened. "Sasuke said that?"

"Yeah," Kikidori said. "He was acting all cryptic about it, like it's some big secret."

Naruto sighed, running a hand through his hair. "I think it's time we had a talk."

Kikidori raised an eyebrow. "About what?"

"About who you are," Naruto said.

The words hung heavy in the air, and Kikidori's chest tightened. He had always felt like there was something different about him, something he couldn't quite put his finger on. And now, it seemed like he was finally about to get answers.

"Alright," Kikidori said. "I'm listening."

Naruto hesitated, as if struggling to find the right words. But before he could say anything, a loud *boom* echoed from outside, followed by distant screams.

Kikidori's head snapped toward the window. "What was that?"

Naruto's expression hardened. "Trouble."

Without another word, he turned and ran toward the exit, leaving Kikidori standing there with more questions than answers.

Kikidori clenched his fists, the faint ache of the scar on his chest a reminder of how close he had come to disaster. Whatever was happening, he knew one thing for sure—his life was about to change in ways he couldn't even imagine.
