Chapter 1 - chapter 1: The trial

The prison cell was dimly lit, the only sound the faint rustling of the prisoner's clothes as he shifted on the cold, hard ground. His black hair was disheveled, and dry blood caked his skin. He looked up as the cell door creaked open, a figure silhouetted in the doorway.

The woman's face was twisted in hatred as she stepped into the cell. Her eyes blazed with fury, and her lips curled into a snarl.

"You're a monster," she spat, her voice venomous. "You deserve to rot in here for what you've done."

The prisoner looked up at her, his eyes empty, his expression unreadable. He didn't flinch as she spat at him, the saliva landing on his cheek.

"You're going to pay for your crimes," she hissed, her eyes flashing with anger. "You'll never see the light of day again."

The prisoner remained silent, his gaze fixed on some point beyond her. The woman's anger seemed to bounce off him, leaving no visible impact.

As she turned to leave, the prisoner's voice stopped her. "You don't understand," he said, his voice low, his tone detached.

The woman spun back around, her eyes flashing with anger. "I understand all too well," she snarled. "You're a killer, a monster. And you'll pay for what you've done."

The prisoner's gaze flickered, a hint of something - sadness, perhaps, or regret - flashing in his eyes. But it was quickly extinguished, leaving his expression once again blank.

The woman stormed out of the cell, leaving the prisoner alone in the darkness. But as the door clanged shut behind her, a faint, ominous smile played on his lips...

As Derek sat in his cell, his mind began to wander back to the past, to the memories he had shared with the woman who had just spat at him.

It was his first day at the school for supernaturals, and he was nervous. He had always felt like an outcast, like he didn't quite fit in with the rest of the supernatural community. But as he walked through the halls, trying to get his bearings, he accidentally bumped into a beautiful girl with piercing blue eyes.

"I'm so sorry," Derek said, as he stumbled backward, trying to regain his balance.

Lika laughed, a melodious sound that sent shivers down his spine. "It's okay, I'm fine," she said, smiling up at him.

As they stood there, locked in each other's gaze, Derek felt a spark of connection that he had never felt before. And as they talked, exchanging stories and laughter, he knew that he had found someone special.

Her name was Lika, and she was the daughter of the Alpha King. They became inseparable, spending every spare moment together. They would walk through the woods, hand in hand, talking about their dreams and aspirations. They would sit together in class, sharing notes and whispering jokes.

And as the months turned into years, their friendship blossomed into something more. They became lovers, their passion for each other burning bright and true.

But then, disaster struck. The queen was murdered, and Derek was accused of the crime. Coleen, a rival suitor for Lika's hand, had been the one to accuse him, fueled by jealousy and ambition.

Derek's mind snapped back to the present, as he heard the sound of footsteps approaching. A guard appeared at the door of his cell.

"It's time," the guard said, his voice gruff. "Your trial is about to begin."

Derek stood up, his heart heavy with foreboding. He knew that the odds were stacked against him, that the evidence was circumstantial at best. But he also knew that he was innocent, that he had been framed by Coleen and his cohorts.

As he walked out of the cell, flanked by the guard, Derek steeled himself for what was to come. He would face the council, and he would tell them the truth. He would clear his name, no matter what it took.

But as he entered the courtroom, he saw Lika sitting in the front row, her eyes blazing with hatred. And he knew that he was in for the fight of his life.

"Lika, please," Derek said, as he passed by her. "You have to believe me. I didn't do it."

But she just turned her head away, refusing to look at him. Derek's heart sank, as he realized that he had lost her, that she had turned against him.

The trial began, and Derek listened as the evidence against him was presented. He listened as Coleen testified against him, his lies and half-truths woven into a convincing narrative.

But Derek remained calm, his eyes fixed on the council as they deliberated. He knew that he was innocent, and he was determined to prove it.

Finally, the council delivered their verdict. Derek was found guilty, and he was sentenced to death.

As the guards led him away, Derek felt a sense of despair wash over him. He had lost everything: his freedom, his reputation, and the love of his life.

But as he walked back to his cell, he felt a strange sensation building inside him. It was a spark of power, a flame of resistance that refused to be extinguished. This made Derek somewhat confused as this is the first time he is feeling like this . What's going on with him, he wondered and shook the thought away as he was about to embrace death
