Synopsis
Lila's life was a fairy tale - or so it seemed. As the sole heir to her grandfather's staggering billionaire fortune, she was the envy of many. But little did she know, her privileged world was about to take a dark and treacherous turn. On the night of a grand ball, Lila's life was forever changed. A sinister force lurked in the shadows, waiting to strike. And strike it did - with a ruthless push off a cliff. But fate, it seemed, had other plans for Lila. Instead of meeting her demise, she found herself awakening to an eerie and unfamiliar forest. The trees loomed above her, their branches like skeletal fingers reaching for the sky. It was there, in the heart of the forest, that Lila encountered the guardians of the land. Mysterious and powerful beings, tasked with a perilous mission. And Lila, with her privileged past and uncertain future, was about to become entangled in their quest. Desperate to return home, Lila begged the guardians to take her back. But they refused, bound by an ancient prophecy that foretold of a great and powerful pearl. A pearl that only Lila, with her unique heritage, could lead them to. And so, Lila found herself at a crossroads. Would she embark on a treacherous journey with the guardians, risking life and limb to find the mystical pearl? Or would she defy the prophecy and forge her own path? The choice was hers, but one thing was certain - Lila's life would never be the same again.

Chapter 1 - 1. The Girl with the Good Life

"Mistress Lila, your package has arrived!" Head maid Ophelia yelled from outside.

Abruptly, I jumped off Mason's body and hopped out of bed. Orgasm hanging but I didn't care, the knock would sound soon and I had to hide Mason before head maid Ophelia would sense something going on.

"Quick! Get out and into the closet." I gestured with my hands. I put on my nightgown and tried to straighten my ragged blonde hair that Mason had held and caressed while he took me from the back.

Mason jerked up and rushed to the closet with his trousers. I hid his shirt and shoes under my bed and tried to arrange the beddings. I could hear head maid Ophelia high heel shoes slapping against the tile floor of my grandfather's huge mansion and nearing my room.

Just when Mason managed to get into my well spaced closet, I ran to the door and waited for the knock, ten seconds countdown and head maid Ophelia slapped at the door.

I opened it with a grin. She was carrying a big box wrapped in blue and red ribbon along with two other maids. She stared at me with suspicion.

I could say head maid Ophelia wasn't exactly as old as she portrayed herself to be. She was tall and elegant, with deep blue eyes like mine, blond hair and squeamish, her red lip shone and her small freckles built round her nose.

 "What package?" I asked uneasily.

"Mistress, may I know what's going on here?" She peeped into my room and I blocked her path.

 "Nothing, just doing my thing."

"I thought I heard noises from inside, didn't you hear also, Sara and Halle?" She turns to the other maids.

"Common, it's probably a movie I was watching. It's nothing really. Now, what package is that? And from whom?" I enquired.

"The President of KO Corporation Limited sent this." She handed it to me.

The box was quite heavy, so I dropped it beside my feet.

"Okay? Why's he giving me a package?"

"He's hosting a dinner party tonight and he wants you to attend. He said to dress at your best. Sara does help the young mistress with her package."

"No no no, I can manage." I said and blocked the entrance further.

"As you know, President Leo has eyes for you amongst all the maidens of this land, you have to play your part. Master Gilmore has dementia already."

 I roll my eyes.

"I know, I know. Head maid Ophelia, do not blackmail me with my grandfather or else." I threaten.

"I'm just telling you what's more crucial and important than bringing some low life into your room!"

"Head maid Ophelia!" I whispered angrily. "That's it now, you can leave." I closed my door behind me and sigh.

My room is big and adorned with pink decors, it would take quite a number of steps to get to my bed.

Mason came out of the closet looking downcast.

"Babe." I called and caressed his bare back.

He moved away and turned to me.

"You never told me President Leo has something for you."

"It wasn't worth saying. I have nothing for him and that's important."

"But he has the influence and power to make you his. Me? I have nothing." He winced.

 I smiled at his insecurity.

"I have influence and power too. All that matters is your heart, which draws me to you, you're the kindest man I've ever seen and I love you with all my heart."

Then he smiled and we locked lips for a few minutes.

"I should go. I don't want any of that to happen again."

 "B-but, don't go yet."

"No love, let me go, you just prepare for the ball tonight. And who knows, I might sneak in to see your pretty face."

"Really? Okay, I would be expecting you then." I smiled and leaped to kiss his forehead.

After Mason left, I went to the package and tore it open. It contained a white handwritten letter of invitation to the grand ball tonight.

It reads;

Dear princess of my heart,

I'll like to invite you to the hosting party celebration tonight to mark the tenth anniversary of KO Corporation Limited. I want you at your best before I'll be showing the world who's got my heart.

I want you to shine in the midst of Elite and damsels like you, I want to make you a special glow among other shining stars.

I want the seas to part because of you and the sun to shine in your night.

Don't try hard at making yourself because even at your lowest, you'll still remain the prettiest.

Leonard Cohen.

If my mind was not fixed on Mason, I would've fallen for this letter, it was so sweet that my heart leaped for a split second but I quickly remembered who president Leo was, how brutal I heard him to be, arrogant at his workers and mentally unstable.

I heard he transformed into a devious beast every first full moon of the moon, but who cares?

Next, I pulled out a nice blue shimmering ball gown neatly placed in the ball. It was beautiful but I scoffed at it.

Of course a hunter would do anything to catch its prey.

Then there was a nice little silver crown lined with blue and red diamonds and they shone.

I decided I would wear it tonight, perfect dress to reject some sort of proposal he was planning.

I went to my mirror to try on the dress, it almost fitted me to perfection! I gasped at the elegance and turned around to admire myself.

Since I grew up without my parents and grandpa had been the one looking after me since childhood up to my twenty one years of age, he told me how beautiful I was, now that I think of it, I had beautiful pair of almond sky blue eyes, long glimmering blond hairs like head maid Ophelia, slender build and fair glassy skin like snow white.

Snap! I flung the gown on my bed and proceeded to the bathroom to have my bath for the ball tonight.
