Chapter 4 - cap 4

The sun was barely peeking over the horizon when Rufus and Luna, the town's most disastrous werewolves, woke up in the darkest corner of an abandoned building. After a night of hunting, in which nothing went as they expected—including a close encounter with a cat who, for some reason, decided that Rufus was enemy number one—the pair realized that their plan to carve wood for a living had failed miserably.

"Can you believe we got caught selling those wooden statues?" Rufus complained, while running a paw through his messy hair. "They were works of art!"

"Yes! Works of art in the shape of... a flying shoe?" Luna replied, shrugging. "Maybe we shouldn't have used all that phosphorescent paint."

Both werewolves sat on a pile of bricks while they remembered their first attempt at business. The construction of a new community center in town had been the perfect place to steal a couple of boards and create their own art emporium. The problem was that the head of the construction site, a woman named Mabel, turned out to be a money-obsessed lunatic, and after discovering the scam, she didn't hesitate to put Rufus and Luna to work on the construction site to pay off her fine.

"You know what's the worst of all?" Rufus lamented, a cloud of dust rising as he moved a brick. "Mabel follows me everywhere. She's like a lapdog who just wants me to give her money!"

Luna clapped her hands enthusiastically. Her natural clumsiness led her to knock over a scaffolding full of tools, which fell with a crash.

"Look, Rufus! Perfect! We can do a raffle with this! The big scaffolding raffle!" she shouted with a radiant smile.

Rufus looked at her in disbelief. Just then, a group of workers approached, and one of them, an old man with bottle-bottom glasses, said to her:

"That's illegal, girl! And dangerous! But it sounds fun! So many tickets you have to buy!"

Luna smiled knowingly, and in an instant, chaos broke out. The two werewolves began handing out raffle tickets made from pieces of wood, and the workers, excited by the idea, began to participate. Meanwhile, Mabel appeared on the scene with a look of fury.

"Rufus! Luna! Stop that right now!" she shouted, pointing an accusatory finger.

But before they could say anything, a shower of tennis balls, which mysteriously seemed to have fallen from the sky, began to hit the construction site. The workers, instead of running, began to laugh and play with the balls, as if they were part of the event.

"That's it!" Luna shouted as she ran to join them. This is good luck! The people love us!

Rufus, between laughter and chaos, thought that maybe they did have a knack for attracting absurd situations. But the uproar didn't last long. Mabel, furious, caught them in the act. With her hawk-like gaze, she demanded that Rufus stay and work for her as her personal assistant.

"Please!" Rufus implored. "I'm an adventurous werewolf! I can't spend my days doing construction work!"

Mabel looked down at him, with a mischievous smile.

"Oh, but with that 'luck' you have, I'm sure construction can become a much more exciting place," she said, with a tone that made it clear that she had a plan in mind.

Meanwhile, Luna, unaware of the danger, decided that it was the perfect time to prove that she could also be the "lucky pet." So, with a snap of his fingers, he began performing an impromptu dance choreography in the midst of the workers who were still distracted by the tennis balls.

"Look, Rufus!" Luna said excitedly. "I am luck itself!"

At that very moment, a duck flying by decided to join the show and landed on Rufus's head. The crowd burst into laughter, but he could only lament his unbearable fate.

"This is what happens when you try to be a construction hero instead of an adventurer, Rufus," said one of the workers, while wiping away tears of laughter.

"The lucky werewolf!" Luna shouted, not realizing that she had begun to attract the attention of the villagers passing by.

As Rufus tried to get the duck off his head, the day only promised more madness. With Mabel on his tail, the Adventurer's Guild in sight, and the need to pay his fine, Rufus realized that luck had never been so complicated.

The cool morning air was filled with murmurs in the small town of Wolf Valley. Rufus, the lucky werewolf, had had a brilliant and, at the same time, disastrous revelation. He had spent hours studying an old self-help book he found in the local library, titled "How to Get Rich Quick: The Guide to the Lucky Pyramid." With a mixture of excitement and greed, he came up with a plan that promised to fill his pockets with golden coins.

"People love pyramids! And if I promise them fortune, I will be rich!" said Rufus, as he drew an outline of his plan in the mud of the town square. However, his enthusiasm was stopped short when he saw Luna, his clumsy friend, trip on a rock and fall face-first into his drawing.

"Luna! That was the basis of my scam!" exclaimed Rufus, as he tried to scrape the mud off his blueprint with one paw.

"I'm sorry, Rufus. But what is a pyramid scheme?" Luna asked with her big innocent eyes, as she shook the mud off her fur.

Rufus, seeing his chance, decided to take advantage of Luna's curiosity. "It's a scheme to make money… and luck! Each person who joins must bring others, and then fortune will flow like a river of gold."

"Great! So, can I help?" Luna said, excitedly.

"Sure, but… don't tell Mabel!" Rufus knew that the village's construction boss, with her strong character and common sense, would not look kindly on his plan. But Luna, in her typically clumsy way, decided that it would be a great idea to tell Mabel about his brilliant scam plan.

Meanwhile, in one of the village's wooden huts, Mabel listened intently to Luna, not realizing that the idea was, indeed, a disaster waiting to happen. "This sounds amazing! "Let's build a lucky pyramid!" said Mabel, already immersed in the euphoria of the construction, unaware that the adventurers' guild was already aware of the scam.

Days later, the pyramid was standing, full of promises of fortune, although obviously made of cardboard and with a sign that said "Luck guaranteed or your money back!", which fell to pieces with every gust of wind. Rufus, dressed in a red velvet cape he had stolen from Luna's grandmother's dressing room, was acting as the promoter of the "Lucky Pyramid".

"Come, come! Your lucky charms await you! Only for 10 silver coins!" shouted Rufus, while the rest of the werewolves looked on nervously. The idea was attracting the attention of the adventurers' guild, who, of course, were not in search of good fortune, but of justice.

"Rufus! The adventurers are coming!" "They said they're going to arrest you for fraud!" a wolf shouted from the back of the square, as the group of adventurers, led by a warrior in shining armor, approached quickly. Rufus looked at Luna and Mabel, who were laughing happily, oblivious to the chaos that was coming.

"We need to hide!" said Rufus, but before he could do anything, a dark shadow covered the village. A dragon, red-haired and grumpy, had decided that it was the perfect time to crash-land in the middle of the square, destroying the pyramid and scattering lucky charms everywhere.

"What the hell is going on here?" roared the dragon, as the villagers ran in all directions, leaving behind Rufus, Luna, and Mabel, who looked at each other, mouths agape.

"Luck? Is this a joke?" asked the dragon, as his eyes fell on the group. Rufus, heart in his mouth, thought quickly.

"Oh great dragon! This is part of a ritual! We… we just wanted to bring good fortune!"

The dragon raised an eyebrow, clearly skeptical. "Good fortune? Or just a good disaster?"

"Both, maybe… but… we can help you!" said Luna, with the confidence of someone who has no idea what she is talking about. Meanwhile, Rufus wondered how they had gotten into this absurd situation, trying to remember how it all started.

"Yeah! You could use a lucky charm too!" interrupted Mabel, excited, as she offered a shiny pendant to the dragon, who seemed more confused than interested.

"A lucky charm? For a dragon? Isn't this a cliché from some fairy tale?" the dragon mocked, as the chaos in the square intensified.

"Exactly! A cliché! The kind everyone loves!" Rufus shouted, trying to calm the situation down. But deep inside, he knew that luck was not on his side.

And so, amidst laughter, chaos, and a bewildered dragon, the situation became more and more absurd, as the people of Wolf Valley tried to solve the mystery of luck... and how to get out of this hilarious situation.

Because in the end, in a world where werewolves tried to be the guardians of fortune, everything seemed possible, except good luck.

The sun was beginning to set behind the hills, turning the sky a bright orange that reflected the town's unusual energy. Rufus, known as the "lucky werewolf," stood in the center of the square, where he had called the townspeople together for his latest event: a raffle for "eternal luck." What no one knew, however, was that Rufus' luck had changed drastically since the dragon, Dracon, had decided that he would be the father of his daughter, Sparky.

"And the winner is…!" Rufus shouted, waving a top hat that once belonged to a mediocre wizard. "Number 47! Oh wait! That's my shoe size! What a lucky mistake!" The crowd cheered, though the excitement was more for the disastrous spectacle Rufus was putting on than for the possibility of winning anything.

Meanwhile, Luna, the clumsy but well-meaning wolf, was at the back of the square trying to balance a stack of lucky charms she had made to "help" Rufus. Every time she tried to stack one, the tower would collapse in spectacular fashion, sending the charms flying into the air. "Luck! Luck! It's all about luck and…!" she shouted, just as a rabbit's foot charm hit her in the head.

Rufus, his mind preoccupied with his new responsibility as a father, approached Luna. "Luna, I have a brilliant idea, although my idea is rather… clumsy! We need to find cursed weapons in the dungeons on the hill. Dracon told me I could use them for… I don't know, something to do with luck and Sparky's upbringing."

"Cursed weapons? Isn't that a little… dangerous?" Luna asked, as she tried to pick up the scattered charms. "Also, why don't you just give him a lucky charm? Isn't that what you do?"

"Yeah, but! The charms I handed out are… let's just say they haven't had the desired effect. The other day, it rained tennis balls on the square, and I have a parade of ducks following people everywhere. We need something more potent!" Rufus scratched his head, remembering the last time he tried to use one of those charms.

"That sounds… weird!" exclaimed Sparky, the dragon daughter, who had suddenly appeared. With her head covered in shiny scales and a tail that looked a little clumsier than her father's, she was trying to understand the madness surrounding her. "Can I come? I want to see cursed weapons! Are they like fireworks? I love fireworks!"

"Sure, Sparky, but only if you promise not to burn anything… or anyone," Rufus replied, thinking of all the disasters he had witnessed since the dragon came into his life.

The three of them set off towards the dungeons, but not before stopping at old Mirna's shop, who, according to rumors, had an arsenal of cursed and misunderstood items. "Mirna! We need cursed weapons to… create luck," Rufus said with a mix of excitement and desperation.

"Cursed weapons? Of course! But only if you bring me some of that 'luck' you have," Mirna replied, as she petted a black cat who was, improbably, wearing sunglasses. "I've heard that werewolves are like… what do you say? Ah, yes! Idiots' luck!"

"What? We're not idiots! We just have a very peculiar sense of humor!" Luna protested, as she tripped over a shelf and knocked over a series of jars containing things that shouldn't be mixed. Instantly, a cloud of green smoke rose up, forming figures in the air that looked like a shadow show of dancing werewolves.

"Look, Rufus! That's you and me dancing! Oh wait! That's not a dance, that's a desperate attempt to run!" Luna laughed, as the jars continued to explode in colorful flashes. Rufus simply sighed, thinking that maybe fortune wasn't the only one who needed a little help right now.

Meanwhile, Sparky watched everything with eyes of wonder. "Isn't it great? This is better than any fairy tale! Luck, cursed weapons, and a shadow show! It's like my birthday, but with more chaos!"

With chaos at its finest, the three headed into the dungeon cave, ready to find the cursed weapons, unaware that each step they took would lead them into more absurd and comical situations. After all, in their world of werewolves and dragons, luck could be as capricious as fate itself.
