Chapter 40 - Unfazed by the Extraordinary

"Monster Beast Royal Family?"

Upon hearing Jiang Shengjun's words, both Bu Lige and Bu Shiyi turned their attention to Yao Ziyan, their eyes wide with surprise.

Previously, the two had noticed that Yao Ziyan seemed a bit unusual, but they had only just connected the dots after Jiang Shengjun's comment.

Neither of them had any knowledge of the Monster Beast Royal Family, but hearing the name, they immediately linked it to monsters. They assumed it referred to a creature capable of transforming into human form.

But when they thought about Luo Chuan's identity…

Could it be that he, too, was part of the Monster Beast Royal Family?

Was something strange happening, or was this normal?

Seeing the indifferent expressions on the faces of Bu Shiyi and Bu Lige, it was Jiang Shengjun who began to lose his composure.

A member of the Monster Beast Royal Family—here, in Nine Stars City?!

Jiang Shengjun could hardly believe it. For ordinary cultivators, encountering monsters was a matter of life or death.

Monsters, especially those that could transform, were the very stuff of nightmares.

In Nine Stars City, where most cultivators made their living by hunting monsters in the Nine Stars Mountain Range, there was a long-standing enmity between the two sides.

But now, Jiang Shengjun began to question everything he had understood about the world.

Perhaps not all monsters were as ferocious as the tales suggested...

"Are you a clerk in this shop?" Bu Shiyi asked curiously.

Yao Ziyan smiled and nodded. "Yes, today is my first day at work."

"Girl, I have to ask—after your transformation, are you as beautiful as you are now?" Bu Lige asked in a hushed tone.

Bu Shiyi sighed, realizing just how unreliable her younger brother could be.

Yao Ziyan, taken aback by the question, thought for a moment before shaking her head. "The new products are displayed over there," she said, pointing toward a section of the shop.

As the conversation unfolded, Jiang Shengjun felt increasingly uneasy.

His eyes wandered around, and soon they fell on the decorations of the store.

Hiss!

Suddenly, Jiang Shengjun inhaled sharply.

The store was filled with such pristine colored glazed items, ones he hadn't seen even in the royal palace. This level of luxury was beyond anything he had expected.

Who was this shopkeeper?

Was he hiding his true power?

A thought struck Jiang Shengjun, causing his expression to shift dramatically.

Yesterday, a Soul Projection had appeared in Nine Stars City, and the attack had been in the area nearby.

Could it be… a coincidence?

As he glanced at Luo Chuan, who was lounging in the sun at the door, Jiang Shengjun swallowed hard.

His steps faltered, and with a stiff movement, he cautiously approached Bu Lige.

Noticing Jiang Shengjun's sudden change in demeanor, Bu Lige was puzzled.

"I thought you were always so arrogant, Young Master Jiang. What's going on with you now?" Bu Lige asked with amusement.

If this were a normal situation, Jiang Shengjun would have reacted sharply to Bu Lige's words. But now, with everything that had been happening, he couldn't bring himself to challenge him.

"Bu Lige, is the owner of this shop the mysterious superpower from yesterday?" Jiang Shengjun whispered, casting a furtive glance at Luo Chuan.

It was no secret that, in this shop, Jiang Shengjun's strength was the lowest.

His low voice was barely more than a whisper, yet it was still loud enough for Luo Chuan to overhear.

After the intense battle yesterday, nearly all of Nine Stars City was abuzz with rumors about the mysterious powerhouse. The royal family's silence only made the rumors grow.

Jiang Shengjun couldn't help but feel the weight of the situation.

"If you dare to cause trouble in this shop, you're as good as dead," Bu Lige said with a smile. "Not even His Majesty would dare say a word."

At these words, a cold sweat broke out on Jiang Shengjun's forehead.

He had originally considered telling his father about the presence of a member of the Monster Beast Royal Family in the shop, but now he realized that would be a terrible idea.

Thankfully, he hadn't acted on the thought.

For a moment, Jiang Shengjun took comfort in his habit of being cautious.
