The next morning, Shane woke with a refreshing clarity he hadn't felt in years. His muscles, once tight and sore, were now relaxed, and his bones felt lighter, as if they'd been freed from an invisible weight. The night's sleep had been deep, undisturbed—the best rest he'd ever had. Turning to his right, he noticed Carl still curled up next to him, tucked into himself as if trying to absorb the last bit of warmth from the sheets. He slept peacefully, no signs of nightmares on his face.

A soft cough broke the silence, cutting through the morning haze. Shane's eyes flicked across the room, settling on the figure standing near the doorway. Everett.

The old man stood tall—around seventy, perhaps—his white hair flowing back like an ancient river. His face was framed with a short beard, and round glasses perched on his nose. His clothes, though simple in design, held an undeniable elegance. His black robe was adorned with gold dragons that swayed like living creatures, their scales catching the light with every movement. A heavy necklace draped around his neck, with chains that seemed oddly out of place yet mesmerizing. The topmost chain connected to a small sphere that hung loosely, but there was something about it—something that drew your gaze. Shane couldn't explain it.

He had never seen the man in person before—only read about him in the journal. So how was he here now? The realization sent a chill down his spine.

"Everett?" Shane said, rubbing his eyes. "What are you doing here? Talk about creepy."

Everett's grin spread, though it didn't quite reach his eyes. "Ah, grandson-in-law," he said with a teasing lilt in his voice, "we didn't finish our conversation yesterday. Your mortal body did make you fall asleep before we could get to the good part. Are you ready now, or do I need to let you nap again?"

Shane groaned as he wiped the sleep from his eyes. This was definitely not the conversation he'd hoped to wake up to, but he couldn't afford to ignore it any longer. "Alright, I'm awake. Let's get this over with."

With a flick of Everett's hand, words appeared in the air—hovering in glowing letters. Shane's eyes widened, but as Everett began speaking, Shane's senses seemed to dull. His mouth moved, but no sound reached Shane's ears. Everett noticed immediately, giving him a pointed look. "Focus, Shane," he snapped.

Shane blinked, shaking off his daze, and forced himself to concentrate. He could see the words clearly now, but something about them felt heavy, as if the weight of the world was tied to them.

"So, as I was saying, in the Multiverse, there's a strength system we've worked to make inclusive, so even the weakest of beings can be ranked." He gestured toward the words. "Go ahead, read through this and let me know if you have any questions."

The words appeared, each line carrying a new level of unimaginable power. As Shane read, his mind felt as though it were shattering with each tier, each word expanding his perception.

Multiverse Strength System:

Mortal Tier – Regular beings, no supernatural abilities or only minor enhancements.

Superhuman Tier – Beings surpassing human limits but aren't world-ending threats (e.g., enhanced strength, speed, durability).

Planetary Tier – Beings who can manipulate entire planets (e.g., world-destroying powers).

Galactic Tier – Beings with power over multiple star systems, capable of controlling galaxies.

Universal Tier – Entities with influence over entire universes, such as reality-warpers or cosmic gods.

Multiversal Tier – Beings who exist across and control multiple universes.

Shane's mind raced as the weight of the system sank in. World-altering power? Reality manipulation? This was beyond anything he had imagined. But as he read, one thought struck him like lightning—his reality had been warped. His life, his very existence, had already begun to shift in ways he didn't fully understand. And it wasn't just his world; it was his personal reality.

The realization hit him like a cold wave: he had no choice but to grow stronger. These forces would come after him—just because he was Ampelio's soulmate. It wasn't a matter of choice anymore; it was a war. Silent now, yes, but massive in scope.

"Do you have more details?" he asked, almost reluctantly. "Or is this just a general outline? Is there any way to tell where I am on this scale?"

Everett raised an eyebrow, flicking his wrist again. This time, the words expanded—growing, shifting like a living thing, becoming more detailed, more personal. Shane's heart raced as new words appeared.

Power Levels Breakdown:

Mortal Tier (1-10): From ordinary humans to peak human potential.

Superhuman Tier (1-10): From enhanced abilities to borderline planetary threats.

Planetary Tier (1-5): Beings capable of affecting or destroying entire planets.

Galactic Tier (1-5): Command over entire star systems and galaxies.

Universal Tier (1-5): Reality-warping entities with control over universes.

Multiversal Tier (1-5): Beings who transcend all universes and realities.

Shane skimmed through the rest of the list, feeling his mind stretch beyond its limits. He glanced at Everett, already knowing the question that lingered in his chest but reluctant to ask it.

Finally, the words escaped him, heavy with hesitation. "So... where am I right now, exactly?"

As if in answer, the word "Shane" materialized next to Mortal Tier 4. His stomach dropped. Mortal Four. Not even at the bottom of the ladder. That was... higher than he expected, yet still nowhere near the power he had to reach.

Everett was already nodding. "I guess the serum you ingested yesterday did more than I thought. It's unlocked a portion of your potential. You're already ahead of the curve. You'll need to keep training if you want to make a real difference." He gave Shane a pointed look. "But you will be able to do it. Trust me."

Shane's heart sank. "Training? What kind of training? I... I don't have the equipment for this. I've never done anything like this in my life! This is insane!"

Everett chuckled. "You seriously underestimate us. This isn't just some regular training, Shane. This is a system, designed by our clan to unlock the fullest extent of your capabilities. And yes, I can get the resources needed for you to train properly."

Everett handed him a thick journal—the enchanted tome. It felt alive in his hands, like it pulsed with power. "This book will guide you. It's passed down through the clan heads. Every family member uses it to reach their full potential. It's your training journal now."

The Training Breakdown was laid out before him—each day meticulously planned, a mix of strength, speed, endurance, combat, and mental resilience. The sheer volume of it made Shane's head spin.

"You'll be fine," Everett said confidently, his tone unshaken. "The children in our clan started this before they were six. And they survived."

Shane felt the weight of the challenge pressing down on him. There was no turning back now. The war wasn't just coming—it was already here.
