Ampelio's POV
Looking at the gun in front of me, I was baffled; It had been a while since anyone had pointed a gun in my face. Looking across at the man in front of me, I knew he wasn't going to shoot me; I could see it in his eyes. He was too curious about the feelings in his chest when he looked at me to hurt me. After deciding to ignore the gun, I smirk at him with a cocky grin. It grows wider when he blushes and lets his guard down.
After his guard comes down, I turn away from him and start moving forward until I stop. Waiting for a moment, I call out for the 'system panel'. In front of me, a clear, see-through screen appears with three tabs.
'Status'
'Shop'
'Achievement'
I wonder to myself what qualifies as an achievement and start to get excited for the first time knowing that I am already one step closer to getting stronger. I just have to keep moving forward.
After closing the panel. I notice an odd noise coming from behind me. It sounds like rapid breathing, but it gets shallower every time. I turn around to see the man doing a poor imitation of a fish.
"What the hell is that?"
Confusion runs through me, and then the question and the answer are solved in one go. 'He can see the system screen, but that's impossible the only people who can do that are'. My eyes open as wide as they can at the shock of the situation.
Suddenly a noise goes off so loud that I visibly flinch. The man in front of me does as well. 'Ding' A screen popped up in between me and the man 'Achievement unlocked: Congratulations to the host for meeting his soulmate [1/13] Reward: Body modification [1/20] and a guide to soulmates for dummies.'
"Huh, I guess that answers your 'one reason not to shoot you' question." I look back at him and raise an eyebrow. The man is once again trying to imitate a fish.
'Thinking back, he did mention something about soulmates' Ampelio thought back to before he had come here, where he met the most frustrating being he had ever come across.
[FLASHBACK]
"MMM... Yes, this would happen wouldn't it. Someone like you being found here in the middle of nowhere." I look around to see where the voice is, but I can't find the source. "Well, it was bound to happen, considering what they did to you, anyway, let's move on."
"Yes, how about we get to the part where you tell me what the hell is happening. I'm all for the next life in heaven or whatever but I don't appreciate being stuck in the middle of nowhere for god knows how long and getting to freak out by some disembodied voice" after saying this, the space around me starts to move. It all seemed to converge on one point. And I can make out two eyes and a mouth. In the darkness of the space. I could finally see what was talking. but it didn't make me feel any better.
"So I'm just going to run straight through this and send you off; to get into it though, we need a bit of background. Many aeons ago your clan was one of the highest-ranking Families in the Multiverse. You were collectively, on the same level as the ruler of the multiverse. Your role was peacekeepers, keeping order throughout. Many across the multiverse had no knowledge of your role as peacekeepers and saw you as enemies in a power struggle. They envied you and were jealous of your power. The power, to adapt to anything, to learn anything and have no limits.
The breaking point of their jealousy had been met. Rumours were circulating about a special one born to the clan leader who could rival the ruler and had no competition. Hearing this they decided they couldn't wait any longer. The pantheons of the gods gathered allies and believers from every corner and decided to go to war with your clan. Your clan was on the verge of winning, however sometime during the battle a member of the Greek Pantheon managed to capture the clan leader's pregnant wife in a desperate struggle. Seeing that the clan heads wife was about to die with the rumoured miracle baby the clan sacrificed themselves to ensure the baby would be safe until the time came when he would be needed for the sake of the multiverse. After wiping your clan out, many years have passed. The Pantheons have gotten stronger and expanded their influence throughout the multiverse.
They have created chaos. Which is on the verge of being unfixable. And I'm unable to go in and fix it. So, I've had to bring in some help. You shall go from world to world, cleansing it, and then you shall take over the world, adding it to your domain. On your way you will meet family, friends and most importantly your soul mates.
Your soul mates aren't only to keep you from being lonely. They shall be your strongest asset. And your greatest weakness for you will love them like no other. The reason your clan was never able to be as strong as me was because their fragile bodies couldn't contain that much power. They had set a limit for themselves. But you, your power was so overwhelming that the nature of the multiverse itself had to give you a way out. It could sense the upcoming storm awaiting it. And decided to provide you with soulmates. In which you could ground yourself. The power will spread out among them. And they will stand by you as the strongest champions in the multiverse.
So your objectives are:
Travel world to world. And get rid of the pantheon's influences on them. And add it to your domain.
Gather your friends and allies. And soul mates.
And have children to repopulate your clan and raise them in the home you should have been raised in.
