Chapter 1:
Ahh...Why does it have to be so hard? Fuck it man!
With a frustrated expression Saruhan tore apart the canvas & threw it in
the dustbin.
Wait... I should put on an empty canvas on the stand, at least I would look a little creative!
Saruhan put an empty canvas on the board with a hope that he would be painting something nice on it someday.
…..…..…..
Ahh man... It's already 31st of March. The second year starts
tomorrow...Well I can't do anything. Let's just hug the murderer…
It was already the start of his second year in university as a Literature major.
For some people a new session is like another chance to be better but for Saruhan, it was just the end of his sweet holidays.
Damn... It's just the first day & they assigned me a flatmate. Hope that it's not those quirky people who tend to run their mouth all the way.
Knock knock…
As Saruhan opened the door he saw the Beauty of Oceans & The Allure of Wine. Heavenly yet intoxicating. Although for a 20-year-old guy, it might be embarrassing to come up with such words, but as a Literature
major Saruhan came up with such things easily!
Infront of him there was a beautiful looking girl, with bags in hand.
There was one perk about autonomous universities. The dorm allocations were not based on strict orthodox ways. Guys and Girls were allowed to live amongst each other as long as they don't cause trouble.
This approach was viewed in a negative manner when it was brought forth for the first time a few years ago, but surprisingly, students wanted to adapt such method. And after a few years, now, it is acceptable in come certain colleges and universities.
"Ahh... you must be my new flatmate. Please come in. Myself, Mohsen Saruhan, 2nd year, Literature Department. You may call me Saru if Saruhan is long."
He casually invited her inside & introduced himself.
As the girl entered, she removed her hat, revealing her fluffy brown hair.
"Saru... I see. Myself Sahar, just Sahar. 3rd year, Nuclear Physics Department."
"Nuclear physics?? Mann, are you sure you were assigned this room?"
Saruhan quickly replied out of amazement. His amazement was justified because there were only 25 seats in the Nuclear Physics Department & even in the whole country it was roughly around just 2000.
"Yes, Saru. Why would I lie? Besides, I can understand your confusion. Even the Genetic Engineers & AI Developers call us with respect. Anyways, quickly explain me the rules if you have any."
"Oh yeah! No alcohol, no cigarettes, flush properly, don't invade my room & I have a habit of working out in the morning with some music."
Hearing these rules Sahar felt horror as she was a cigarette addict.
"Can't you remove the cigarette rule please?"
She tried convincing him with a forced smile.
"No, cigarettes can kill you."
"What? Man, I literally work around Radioactive Elements, you think Cigarettes stand a chance against me??"
Sahar was too dumbfounded to hear his rejection!
"Well, if you want to smoke that badly then you can do it on the balcony, but it's just that the balcony is in my room."
"Fine, but keep your door open at night. You know Late Night Puffs!"
She smirked finishing her sentence.
"Fine. Can't argue with a senior, especially one from the Nuclear physics department. Anyways, that is your room. I cleaned it a bit, but call me if you need help. I'm gonna cook something for us."
"Woah! You can Cook? Damn, shame on my XX chromosomes, can't even help me cook ramen despite evolving in kitchen for centuries."
"See, a Literature Major can beat a Nuclear Physics Major too."
Saru tried teasing her a bit.
…..…..…..
By the evening, they both were free.
Saruhan was lying on his bed reading some novels with a serious
expression on his face.
Knock knock...
"Saru open up. I need to smoke."
Hearing this he opens his door.
"Yeah, sure come in. You can take that chair if you need."
This was her first time entering his room so she scanned it for a few
seconds. She noticed the empty canvas.
"Woah! Are you a Painter?"
"Well yes I am, but that's just a hobby. I'm not some serious passionate painter."
"Nice. Please draw me someday."
He smirked & jokingly said,
"Oh beauty, how you expect me to draw
you when it's your eyes, which always draw my attention making your face blurry like the fog!"
Both of them burst into laughter.
Calming her laugh Sahar walked to the balcony & leaned against the railing.
"You sure are a Literature Major. Bet you had multiple crushes or girlfriends."
As she finished her sentence, she grabbed the cigarette between her pink
heavy lips & tried lighting it with her lighter.
"Ahh fuck it! Mann, the lighter is broken."
Suddenly there was a matchstick burning aside her. It was Saruhan holding it.
He looked at her and said,
"There, it's lit now. And about my crushes and girlfriends…"
After a pause he looked at the burning tip of her cigarette & says in a low mumbling voice.
"I had none, but looks like I am about to have one soon....A pretty intoxicating and an addictive one
At that moment, with the cigarette, there was something else which got lit. It was a tiny little spark but, who knows what it was about to
burn!!!
