Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: Taste of it

Time flew like the wind in autumn & it was already the end of week.

Sahar was free after a long time. So today she was polishing her

cooking skills.

"Ok, so according to the recipe, next I have to add the chopped onions."

As she was indulged in her cooking there was a knock on the door.

"Coming!"

Quickly she opened the door and standing on her expectations it was her flatmate Saruhan

"So, you are back. How was the day, Mr. Literature Major?"

"I told you to call me Saruhan, or just call me Saru. Well, my day was pretty normal. Anyways I can smell something good. What are you cooking?"

While talking he enters the flat and heads into the kitchen area attracted by the aroma of food.

"I am cooking Koko, a Persian dish."

"Wow. So, our Nuclear Scientist is visiting Iran today huh… Quite political!"

He joked about it teasing her before heading into his room.

She gave him a side-eye but did not retort to his comment.

With that the silence became louder for either of them.

After a while Sahar had prepared the food and called Saruhan out of his room.

"Hey Saru, come out! I have prepared the food enjoy it before it's cold."

Hearing his flatmate shout he walked out of his room.

"Oh, Thank God my stomach was rumbling."

"Go on, take a bite let me know how it is."

Sahar eagerly watched him take his place and dig into the plate. She

was looking more like a curious cat.

Slowly with a deep sniff Saru takes a bite and goes silent.

"Bro, you sure this is an Iranian recipe? This is radiating with flavours.

Damn… It's good. But on the other hand, you fried it a bit too much."

He was giving his honest review while eating the dish.

"Well, you could have just complimented without bringing in your

political jokes."

With that they both share a laugh & start eating.

The table went awkward silent so Saruhan decided to break it.

"Hey senior, tell me. Which was the most interesting book you ever read?"

Trying to spark a conversation he asked a question which he could immediately think of.

"Most interesting you say? Hmm... Let me think. Oh! Yes, I got it. It was 'The history of time' by Sir Stephen Hawkings."

Hearing this Saruhan almost choked up on the food.

Reaching out for the glass of water, he stops coughing and asks with shock and annoyance visible in his voice.

"Seriously? I mean SERIOUSLY? Even a smut would have been more digestible to me. Get some good reads dude..."

He sips some more water pausing his statement.

"Indeed, but I don't know where to start? So how about you just write something which is good for beginners! You are doing a major in Literature after all."

Sahar said with a sweet smile on her face yet with a sarcastic voice.

However, this answer of hers was out of his expectations.

"You indeed are my senior, but that is out of the picture. Anyways, I

can't write something now but I would recommend 'The 4 Sigil.' It's fantasy but it's good enough for beginner."

Punctuating his words he took the last bite and carried the dishes to the

sink and starts washing them earnestly.

"Still reading Fantasy? You sure are my junior hehe."

She also finished her plate and walked over to him with a grin, giving

an extra plate.

"Thanks for the meal, let me do the dishes."

"Aww, I got such a caring flatmate. I bet you would make a good husband."

She started teasing him with such sugary words.

Hearing this he straight out tried brushing her off by keeping on the tough guy act despite him smiling like a fool in his heart.

She was old enough to realise this and started to tease him more.

"Hehe... Don't you believe your senior?

You really are such a cutie taking care of your flatmate like this. I can't imagine how you would be treating your wife."

Fed up with the teasing. He shrugs water off his hands and faces her

before saying in a mocking tone.

"Thanks for the compliment, I surely would make myself a good husband but what about you? What are you gonna make? Nukes?"

He sarcastically tried to mock her. Expecting her to get annoyed.

However, she smiled coldly hearing this and slowly walked towards him picking up a butter knife on the way. She pressed the knife against his back before speaking in a cold flirty voice.

"I don't know, but I am confident I can make you beg for your life right now without needing a nuke."

With a wide grin, she released him and walked to her room closing the door.

However, in that moment, Saruhan felt a spark which he felt a while

ago. He mumbled under his breath to himself;

"Fuck. She's the fucking Uranium herself."

Done with his mumbling he gets back to do the dishes with a slight red shade on his cheeks and ears.
