Aurora James - POV
I saw Elijah's eyes twitch as he clenched his jaw. A satisfied smile graced my face delighted that he didn't have any control over me anymore. "I may have to ask you to leave this pack since Miss. James isn't your mate, and I will not help you in anything." Alpha Lopez's voice rang loud and clear as Elijah turned around to glare at me.
His eyes held anger and humiliation, and I know that he would not give this up easily. With one final glance my way, he walked out of the room. I felt Levi rub circles on my skin to calm me down, but I was still on edge. I looked at Beta Perez when I saw that his iris was pitch black while he was shaking in anger.
"Where are you going, Zander?" Alpha Lopez questioned when Beta Perez took quick steps towards the doorway. He came to a stop right next to me, and I could feel the sparks dancing in my skin as our hands touched.
"One of my warriors just mind-linked me. They saw a rogue at the borders. I will go and check that out." he gritted out, and before Alpha Lopez could say anything, he stormed out of there as I saw Adrian run after him.
"Would you two like to join me for lunch?" Alpha Lopez asked as I briefly looked at Levi and nodded my head.
"So, it was you who deleted the CCTV footage in the hospital?" Alpha Lopez asked Levi out of the blue as he raised an eyebrow in question. "Zander told me that there was no evidence of that day."
"I had to protect my mate, Alpha Lopez," Levi said in a vague tone, but I knew that it was Zander's work. The rest of lunch went by with small talk, and Alpha Lopez left us alone since he had to take care of certain things back in the main pack while Levi went to conduct his training session.
I made my way to my room, wore a silk blouse along with a black skirt, and walked downstairs to my office. As I passed by Zander's office, I realized that he hadn't come back from his patrol yet. "He must be pissed off by us," Lily said as I rolled my eyes, walked into my office and began working.
"I don't care about what he thinks. And he has no right to be mad at us after what he did this morning." I asserted.
Ring ring.
"Hello, Miss. James speaking, I am Beta Perez's secretary, what can I do for you today?" I answered the phone as I continued typing.
"Miss. James, is Beta Perez in his office? I am calling from the border patrol department."
"He has gone out for a run. Can't you mind link him?" I asked him.
"He has closed his mind link, Miss. James. So could you please convey the message?"
"Sure," I said as I grabbed my notebook and a pen.
"His father has come back to the pack, and he is heading towards the pack house to meet him." the warrior informed me when I felt my fingers frozen.
"His father?"
"Yes, please inform him, Miss. James." the warrior told me before the line was disconnected. I never knew about Zander's parents, and since I didn't see him talk about them, I just assumed that they were not here anymore. I got up from my desk, and I felt my legs wobble a little as I felt my palms become sweaty with nervousness.
I didn't know I would be obliged to meet the parents so soon. I walked out of my office and made my way to Zander's office. The door was closed, so I knocked on it a few times. Ten minutes later, he still hasn't responded. I opened the door and peered inside to see that the office was empty.
Where the hell am I going to find him now?
"I assume he isn't inside." I heard a deep voice behind me, making me lose my balance on the door handle as I fell face-first on the wooden floor.
Ouch!
"Are you all right, dear?" I turned around and quickly adjusted my skirt when I saw a tall man standing in front of me with a worried look on his face. "You are bleeding," he stated as I felt the blood flow down my nose, but I was not focused on that right now.
The man standing in front of me looked like a carbon copy of Zander, and what intrigued me was the crystal blue eyes that they shared. This must be his father.
What a great first impression you have created, Aurora.
I quickly got up from the floor when Mr. Perez offered me his handkerchief, I took it with a nervous smile on my face and wiped off the blood that was flowing down my nose. My cheeks were burning with embarrassment as I looked up at Mr. Perez.
"I think you should get that checked out, dear," he said
"I will be fine, Mr. Perez. It's just a broken nose, it will heal." I said as I opened the door wider and walked inside.
"Would you like me to bring something for you to drink?" I asked him when he waved his hand and walked towards the glass window that was behind the desk.
"If you could find Zander and bring him here, that would be enough," he told me, and I nodded my head.
"Sure, Mr. Perez," I said as I walked out of the office. I looked for him in the pack house, but he was nowhere to be found when I finally walked outside. How on earth am I going to find him in a pack as vast as this?
"We can ask Alpha Lopez to contact him through the mind link." Lily suggested.
"Did you hear what the warrior said? He has blocked everyone out. I don't think that would work." I said as I began walking towards his house. The closer I got to his house, I felt my heartbeat pick up while flashes of last night came back to my mind as his words this morning rang loud and clear within me.
