As he opened up the first paper he had gotten, he saw it was a quest about helping to find some spirits that have escaped from the underworld, and were now stuck in complete emptyness, as to traverse between realms one needs to have at least the favour of a God in each realm, othervise they will just get stuck in the space inbetween these realms, this space is very much simular to the original workspace of the Lamplighter, it is cold, dark, and infinite. A normal beings soul can at best exist here for a couple of years befor facing compleate disintegration, and as the ones who escaped to here were from hell, they were in an even more urgent situation having their bodies projected, they could remain intact for at best a few weeks, and by the time the Lamplighter got the mission it was already a week old request. He quickly hurried over to the realm of hell, where he had to meet with the guardians of hell, who were actually protecting souls from going into hell rather than from coming out of there. The two guards names were Örn, and Abel, they were both giant sized, as a small part of their duty was to occasionally devour evil spirits, their stomacs were blessed with a rare property of purification, meaning that they could digest all the unsightly parts of the souls they ate, and as the spirit lost all its bindings, it became weightless, and formless allowing it to escape this purifying chamber. From gobbling up billions of souls over the timespan of existence itself, the became absurdly big.
The Lamplighter spoke to them sing signlanguage, as the realm they were in is one that acts as a corridor between hell and The Place of Judgement, therefore it was void of all matter.
As the guards saw him, they waved at him, and let him go inside, from there the Lamplighter next job was easy, because the same space of abyss could be reached from all levels of hell, however he did need to notify one of the Gods responsibe for hell about his vist, and how he will have to open a gate to step into the abyss, even if just for a split second; the abyss seems empty, but the reality is that ue to it's seemingly not finite nature, not much is known about it alltogether, so any kind of danger could be imaginable, and the only one who even had the ability to travel between realms was the Lamplighter due to him being blessed by nearly every God and Godess in existence.
As he met up with the one of the 17 primarly Gods of hell called Eyl he quickly explained what he had to do, and while his request was met with a slight sigh, Eyl led him over to a place that was free of any onlookers, and far enough from the gate for it to be relatively safe. While on his way to there the souls looked at the Lamplighter with a strange feeling of familiarity, but they just couldn't recall where they say him, nontheless over the countless times he has visited hell, some of the suffering souls knew about him from eachother, and he became somewhat of a legend to them, they belived that he is a human ascended to the level of the gods, but over the centuries of his existence, he lost most of what would've made him human: his eyes, his body, everything about him looked anything but human, so even the most avid belivers of him gav up on the idea overtime, and all that was left of this possible origin story was a vauge memory of some of the souls that are eighter living as they have reincarnated, or are in heaven, or maybe even hell again.
Everywhere he stepped he left no scent, and no feelings behind him, it was as if he was an ereaser of everything.
Once they reached their destination, the Lamplighter teared up space to enter the abyss...
