"Evie!Evie! Where are you?!" My brother shouts from afar, his figure shadowed by the thriving trees of the green forest, "come on, Evie, seriously? Didn't mom warn you not to climb trees! It's dangerous!" He shouts again, now in front of the tree where I'm hiding.
"what do you want, Alex?" I say not bothering to look at him as I continue to lay on my comfortable tree Branch, "if you didn't notice then I'd like to inform you my dearest brother that I'm trying fucking nap here, so sho pheasant." I continue turning around and making a shoo sign with my hand.
"Well my apologies 'Your Highness' but our dearest queen mother has asked me to hunt you down for a family dinner, so if you'd grace us with Your noble ass." I hear him say sarcasm leaking from his words, and I swear I can imagine him doing his classic eye roll as he says that.
"mhm" I hum with a smile, happy that he's cooperating with this roleplay of mine.
"And the queen mother also said that she'd Whoop your ass if you didn't come for dinner on time" he added clearly with a smirk on his face, "oh shit.." I quickly turned around and tried to jump down, but to my misery slipped and fell down butt first "ack! Damn it!" I shouted in irritation.
"well serves you right" Alex says with a laugh but still extending his hand for me, I take it with a glare and stand up "thanks for saving me" I say sarcastically while giving him a eye roll of my own, "your welcome baby sister" he says clearly ignoring my sarcasm.
"let's go" I say and look up at him, his brown hair moving with the slight forest wind revealing his dark honey colored eyes that reflect my own, a lot of people mistake us for twins because of our resemblance, even though Alex is three years older than me, and a lot taller and muscular which he took from our dad, I think, while I resemble our mom more than anything with my 5'7 height, wavy brown hair and without any muscle body, but don't be fooled I know how to fight, it's something everyone at our village has to learn in order to survive in this broken world.
If you're wondering what I mean by broken world then let me enlighten you, we're currently in the year 2068, exactly 43 years ago a strange virus escaped from the some crazy scientist lab from who knows where, reducing the human population of the entire world, at least that's what I heard from my mom.
thus all of the countries reunited together to find a cure for this virus known now as A-21 and they eventually created a vaccine and exterminated A-21 forever, but wait it's not over yet, I know what you're waiting for, here comes the mind-blowing unbelievable magical thing I know you're dying to read.
some of the humans that survived gained strange powers, cool right?, like who wouldn't want some cool power to fly to the moon or heat water to take a hot bath, and I also bet you're thinking that those people get to attend some amazing magical school where they learn how to use their cool powers right? Fucking Bullshit, those higher ups think were a threat to humanity or something, like dude we're also human if you didn't know with two arms and legs thank you.
But there's more, because of some disagreement between some countries just two years after A-21, world war 3 began and a lot of them used nuclear bombs m, and thus once again half of the world is destroyed, hurrah!, and in between that war a lot of power users were killed or hunted down.
eventually, four countries survived in each continent, US, Russia, China, and Africa, but with them new powerhouses emerged ruling these countries and eventually signed a peace agreement.
after that war, only destruction remained, and thus, they decided to slowly rebuilt themselves but also expand into their continents in the process, now 40 years later those nations have now reemerged with new ruling parties and stupid names.
Zone 69 the former US now ruled by the Ashtons, Zone 77 , Russia ruled by the Volkovs, then there is Zone 88 the former china now ruled by the wángs, and lastly Zone 99 a.k.a Africa ruled by the Kofis.
Now, whoever created these names must be an idiot or wrong in the head. Sorry, I couldn't help myself from commenting. anyway back to the history lesson, after that it was relatively peaceful for a couple of years but then the awakened hunts begun, Awakened, that's the name they gave us, thus those without powers begun to fear those that had it and banished us from Zone 69, building walls to keep us separated.
hah as if walls could stop us, trust me if we wanted we could just destroy them because a lot of Awekends had and still have loved ones inside there, and I know how painful it is, who knows if they're being tortured because of us.
but the funny thing is a lot of the wealthy people in that damned Zone are like us, but they don't get to suffer like we do because they have money stats to back them up, and us? We're like the dirt under their feet and nothing else.
I grit my teeth just thinking about that, but anyway, this is the end of history lesson kids now back to me and my stupid brother.
