Chapter 33 - Sorry Sora (33)

Where Uryu's burst of Reiatsu could be felt.

As the Sakura petals were removed, nothing remained there.

"Foolish," Byakuya muttered, thinking the burst of Reiatsu was Uryu's attempt at escaping the attack by blowing the petals away.

"Geez, never thought I would meet my in-laws so soon," a playful voice could be heard saying. Byakuya's eyes widened as he turned around. There, a boy stood, silver hair flowing in the wind, his golden eyes glowing in the night like the sun during the day.

His demeanor was quite laid-back. The boy had one hand in his pocket, the other placed on Uryu's head.

"Took you long enough," Uryu muttered, looking up at his cousin, who just smiled.

"Sora..." Rukia's voice could be heard saying. She sounded thoughtful, her voice soft. This, Byakuya concluded, must have meant that the man in front of her was the one who had seduced his sister.

"Are you the Quincy dating my sister?" Byakuya asked in a rather calm voice.

"The one and only," Sora said with a bright smile.

"Though I don't think I liked it when you tried killing my cousin, that wasn't really brother-in-law material."

Byakuya hid his anger, thinking about this logically. He decided to gauge the kid's power.

Launching his countless Sakura leaves at him, Sora managed to dodge every single blow using Hirenkyaku, both of his hands still in his pockets.

"If this is captain-level power, I'm disappointed. You'd need to get ten times stronger to reach my level," Sora added, dodging another attack.

Yeah, this was becoming clear to Byakuya—his Shikai wouldn't be enough for this kid. So...

"Bankai: Senbonzakura Kageyoshi!"

Heh, Bankai... already.

Now, Sora had to remove his hand from his pocket and actually pay attention to the fight.

Sora was using Hirenkyaku like no other as he avoided the blades. However, he started making small talk while dodging those potentially fatal attacks.

"Why are you so intent on killing your own sister?"

"She violated the law of Soul Society, and for that, she must pay the price," the man said in a rather cold voice.

"How can you call yourself her big brother when you're trying to kill her?"

"Familial bonds must not stand in the way of the law of Soul Society."

Sora was getting annoyed.

"Soul Society this, Soul Society that. You act as if their words are absolute."

"They are."

Feeling annoyed, Sora created his Reishi gun, taking out a Ginto from his belt. He placed it in the gun and began swirling the Reishi in the Ginto at speeds up to 400 mph—this was for a good reason.

"Those petals are annoying," Sora added, pointing his gun at Byakuya before saying:

"Leerer Wirbel."

As those words left his mouth, he released a swirling bullet that created a vortex, sucking all of the petals around into it.

Byakuya raised an eyebrow; strangely, his link with the petals seemed to have been cut.

"Don't even try to retrieve them. As long as they're within Leerer Wirbel, they're inside my jail, controlled by my Reishi. So unless you think your control over Ambient Reishi is better than mine, be my guest."

The man gathered all of his remaining petals that weren't cut in the attack. Sure, he had about three thousand left, but that was still a long shot from how many he originally had. This would do.

"Let us end this," the man said, before a sword appeared in his hand.

The very next second, flying sparks could be seen all over the place, and a pinkish light clashed with a silver light.

Byakuya's Shunpo was managing to hold his own against Sora's Hirenkyaku, though something odd was happening. Uryu knew Sora could be faster—much faster than this—so why was he slowing down? Why was he holding back to save Rukia's brother some face?

Then he saw it. Sora's wheel was above his head, spinning. Though Byakuya hadn't noticed it yet, Sora was putting so much pressure on him.

"Himmelsregen."

Sora aimed his gun into the air and released a barrage of Reishi bullets. The bullets came down from the sky and started targeting the area around Byakuya. The man had to use his petals along with Shunpo to avoid the bullets.

Though he was hit multiple times.

"Did I hit you too hard, brother-in-law?"

Byakuya was getting annoyed at this, but he noticed something. Although he was getting slower, none of the hits had landed in a fatal area...

"Quincy, are you holding back?"

"Yup," that was a straight insult to his pride as a warrior.

"Why?"

"Because you are."

The man's eyes widened a bit, to which Sora replied:

"80% of your power seems to have been sealed. Who am I to go all out on someone who has a handicap?"

"I see," Byakuya muttered.

As Sora's earlier move ended, all of Byakuya's petals returned to him.

"Let me show you why you shouldn't underestimate me."

"Shūkei: Hakuteiken!"

"If you hold back, this will surely kill you," Byakuya warned, to which Sora smiled.

"Sure."

The Ginto in his gun got ejected as the stored-up Reishi inside it was used up. Sora placed another Ginto, pointed the gun at the man, and said:

"Sure."

The very next second, as Byakuya rushed toward Sora, aiming to kill the Quincy—after all, it would be an honor to the Quincy if he allowed his sin to be punished in such a way—he wouldn't even kill the Quincy cousin, and would even overlook the dating stuff.

Though deep in his heart, he knew he wanted to see if the man claiming to be her sister's boyfriend had the strength to back it up.

"Durchdringender Stern."

A powerful, piercing attack left his muzzle. Lieutenant-level Reiatsu was compressed to the level of a spiritually aware human.

Little to say, the blast that came out carried incredibly powerful piercing power.

*KABOOM.*

Sora looked at the scene. He stood there, the muzzle of his gun smoking from the recent attack. He gazed at the damage caused. That was a lot of damage for one attack.

Oh well, he did make sure not to aim for any vital areas.

Renji, witnessing this, was stunned. He could tell that even if he were at full power, he could not contend with such a shot—dodge it, maybe; block it? Fuck no.

Byakuya Shunpoed back toward Rukia, standing proud. However, the blood that sprayed from him afterward told them all they needed to know. The man had a hole in his gut—a small hole the size of a ping pong ball, but a hole nonetheless.

Though from Sora's point of view, it looked like Byakuya had said something to her.

Sora walked toward the man, gun in hand.

"Finish it," Byakuya added.

"Captain?" Renji said, stunned at his captain's words.

"Spare them... end me. I'm the one you have a grudge against," the man said, coughing up blood.

Sora looked stunned. Why would he have a grudge against this man?

"Why would I be angry at you?"

"I tried to kill your cousin."

"And I beat your ass for it. Now we're even," Byakuya's eyes widened, just like that.

"and you also my girlfriend elder brother…..I kind of can't kill you"

"Frankly, you're a horrible excuse for a big brother. That should have been your reaction when they ordered for your sister to be killed, but oh no, 'I must follow the law.' That's some BS. She's your sister, and chances are, the people passing those laws are older than when your grandpa was still in his father's balls. How can someone as prideful as you accept taking orders from people who already have a foot in the grave?"

Well, Sora was blunt, but he was kind of mad.

"It doesn't matter. Even if I refuse, they would have sent the Execution Squad to take her. If we fail this mission, they're going to be sent, and she will be killed instantly—not even given mercy at the ritual."

Sora's eyes glinted. Was Byakuya actually telling him what was going to happen?

Though Rukia, understanding how much trouble she would put Sora in, decided to step in and said:

"Please, Sora, let me go. I don't want to cause you trouble."

"But..."

"No buts. Please, Sora, let me do this."

Sora walked close to Rukia before hugging her.

"Don't you dare die on me."

She said nothing, but just nodded her head.

As he patted her and tried to get her to stay, she felt all of her Shinigami power rush back at her.

Upon feeling that, she still felt no hope.

"Forgive me," she said. The very next second, various Bakudo spells were cast on him, rendering him unable to move.

Rukia got close and held him by his cheeks.

"Sorry," she muttered, before the next second, Sora blacked out.

Rukia refused to be the reason Sora got in trouble. He may be strong, but he wasn't Shunsui-level strong, and if Byakuya had reported back what he had found, Shunsui, alongside Yachiru and Unohana, would have been the two sent after her.

She did not want him to die a needless death.

She gave him a light kiss before being transported away.

As they walked away, Renji looked at Sora's unconscious body on the floor.

He kind of felt bad for the guy—getting so far and yet being denied. That must have stung.

A/N If that had failed, well Yamamoto himself would have pulled up, that even if Sora could have survived the two vs one duo of Shunsui and Unohana, the answer to that is fuck no.

As for why those 2, cause they counter him, he used long range move, fine sent the healer that can also fight and the fighter that is very sneaky, probably wouldn't be Unohana's first time killing a Quincy no clue about Shunsui's though.
