Chapter 41 - Sore (41)

Soon after Sora left, the remnant of the Cero she had launched at him could still be seen—the wall nearby had been scorched like no other.

Though not destroyed, it showed just how weak she was currently, not even having enough energy to put a dent in a wall.

Well, that was the last of her Reiryoku gone. She had nothing left in the tank. Luckily, she would recover—not like running out of Reiryoku meant she would die or anything. It just meant she couldn't use any moves right now.

And the simple fact remained that if Sora wanted to, he could absorb her. She didn't have the Reiryoku to fight back. Shinigami were spirits made out of Reishi and soul, and without her Reiryoku to resist, he could, in theory, just suck her dry...

{Pause}

As she tried to stand, she realized her comrades were close. Well, this wasn't going to end well.

"Lisa, I didn't know you were into that kind of thing. Bringing a guy home all roughed up like that? What kind of training were you two doing?"

That sentence came from a green-haired girl. How fun—now she had to explain this whole situation. Just fun.

"We were just training, nothing more."

Defending herself wasn't really going to help, considering she could barely walk.

"Training?" the buff man said, his eyes narrowing. "That guy looked like he walked out of a fight unscathed, while you can't even stand. What the hell did he do to you, Lisa?"

"It's not like that! He's just... annoying, that's all. We were sparring—nothing else!"

She was getting annoyed, but at the same time, coming back home all sore was, in fact, crazy work.

"Annoying, huh?" the guy with the bowl cut said. He had a bored expression on his face, yet amusement could be seen in his eyes.

"Sure didn't sound like nothing else, with the way he carried you in here talking about your stamina."

"Shut up, Shinji," Lisa said, sounding annoyed.

"I wonder if he told you to be quiet."

If she could, she would smack the absolute shit out of him, but she was too tired to do anything.

"Oh, poor you~! He was so rough, wasn't he? You've got some explaining to do, Lisa-chan!" Mashiro added in a lively voice.

"Cut it out, Mashiro!" Lisa shouted back.

Why did she feel like she was stuck between a rock and a hard place?

"Honestly, Lisa, if you wanted some time alone with your... friend, you could've told us. No need to make it sound so scandalous," Rose added.

"Why am I surrounded by idiots?" Lisa exclaimed as she pinched her nose.

Shinji felt like teasing her further, but he noticed the boy's Reiatsu. The kid wasn't even trying to hide it, and the amount he had... was twice that of a captain.

Hmm, it was crazy, but it felt like the boy's Reiryoku was increasing—slowly, yet surely. What seemed to be a brand trait had been added to his collection.

Shinji would ask Lisa more about this boy later.

For now... back to listening to music. Maybe reading some magazines a bit.

The girls in there were pretty cute.

POV Change.

The second Sora got back inside his barrier, he returned to controlling his Reiatsu.

He had made sure to reveal his hand as soon as he met them. Simple, considering they all shared that hollow Reiatsu—it meant they had all been tricked by someone.

Sora didn't want to ruin his chance at getting stronger, or maybe even making some friends, just because he hid too much. He was in no mood to remind them of the person who had tricked them in the past.

Sora was a good person, and he wanted to show that.

Now...

Sora opened his mouth, and a beam of pure red, concentrated Reishi fired out.

Yes... That was his copy of the Cero.

He had learned it from her. His adaptation didn't just stop at him becoming immune to attacks—no, it went much further than that.

If hit by an attack, his adaptation allowed him to mimic it using what he had at his disposal.

He probably couldn't mimic a Bankai, but oh well, who cared?

He could mimic Kido, Hado, and Bakudo techniques, though. Even Zanjutsu could be mimicked.

He had learned a lot from fighting her, using her power as a way to get stronger.

Granted, she also got stronger.

After all, fighting him for hours on end did help with her stamina.

So instead of three minutes, she could now stay transformed while in Shikai for three minutes and one second.

I know, massive improvements. Sora took all the credit for that.

Now he just needed to get his basics down and gain more experience in fights.

Anyone but Kisuke.

He was in no mood to fight a scientist.

If his guess was correct, tomorrow, while he was training, Lisa's Vizard friends would be visiting.

He could use them to get stronger.

Plus, he didn't think they would mind loosening up some of their muscles.
