Chapter 122 - Chapter 121: Chaos is a Ladder

But if that's the case, wouldn't it mean he couldn't recruit any subordinates?

Would his interdimensional task force be doomed before it even got the chance to form?

Peter felt a bit numb at the thought.

Sensing Peter's concern, the Extraordinary Doctor Strange said, "Don't worry. Your idea for an interdimensional task force is excellent. You can proceed with confidence."

His eyes could see through souls, piercing straight to the essence of things.

It felt like everything about Peter was laid bare before him.

Peter had already given up trying to resist.

Trying to keep even the smallest secret from someone like this was nearly impossible.

What mattered more to him were the practical concerns. He asked doubtfully, "What do you mean?"

Doctor Strange extended his hand.

"This is the universe we're currently in," he said. A sphere materialized in his palm.

Then, with a light toss of his hand, a series of spheres appeared—orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, violet, and the original red—seven spheres suspended between the two of them.

"This is the multiverse," Doctor Strange continued.

Peter nodded, though he still wasn't sure where this was going.

At that moment, Doctor Strange pointed into the air.

A red dot emerged from the red sphere and landed on the orange one.

"This represents a parallel universe event," Doctor Strange explained, enlarging the red and orange spheres so Peter could see more clearly. "For these two universes, the red sphere has lost a red dot, while the orange sphere has gained one. Both have been altered, right?"

Peter nodded again.

On this subject, he had firsthand experience.

In the context of the Marvel Universe, he himself—a traveler from another world—was that red dot.

In fact, from the moment he arrived, regardless of what he did or how much he influenced, this universe had already been changed.

Just like the red dot appearing in the orange sphere.

Doctor Strange moved his hand slightly.

This time, dots of various colors emerged from all seven spheres, scattering randomly into different ones.

In an instant, the seven spheres became a kaleidoscope of colors.

"This represents a multiverse event," Doctor Strange said. "I'm sure you've experienced something like this."

Peter nodded thoughtfully.

Because of the Ultimate Universe's Kingpin creating a particle collider, links between multiple parallel universes had been opened, which led to Peter meeting Gwen, Shadow Spider, Peni, and others in the Ultimate Universe.

Although they eventually resolved the crisis and each returned to their own universes, the marks they left behind could never be erased.

Later, when he encountered the Vulture in Gwen's universe and Wind God Pteranodon and Atrociraptor in the Extraordinary Universe, he wasn't sure if those incidents were connected to the particle collider.

But one thing was clear—they also came from parallel universes.

Their arrivals had already caused varying degrees of impact on those universes.

But what did all of this have to do with their current topic…?

Wait a minute!

Peter seemed to understand!

His eyes lit up as he said, "So, by taking these visitors from parallel universes out of this universe, in a way, I'm actually protecting this universe, preventing it from being overly affected?"

Supreme Doctor Strange nodded. "That's right. Your thinking is correct, and you can continue down this path."

Hearing this, Peter felt a surge of joy in his heart.

It was as if he had received the approval of a powerful figure, which significantly eased his psychological burden about what he was about to do.

At that moment, another question came to Peter's mind.

"But I'm not sending them back to their original universes. Instead, I'm—"

Supreme Doctor Strange didn't explain immediately. Instead, he stretched out his hand and drew a circle in the air.

Instantly, a white sphere enveloped the seven multicolored orbs.

Then, the multicolored orbs suddenly exploded simultaneously, transforming into countless shimmering fragments of light. However, all these fragments remained confined within the white sphere.

Peter watched this scene, deep in thought.

It seemed like he understood something.

Supreme Doctor Strange said, "This represents the entire multiverse! To put it in more scientific terms, you could also call it… hmm, what was that theory again?"

"Infinite Worlds? The hypothesis proposed by Democritus?" Peter asked tentatively.

"Exactly." Supreme Doctor Strange nodded in approval. "This white sphere represents the infinite worlds! Within these infinite worlds, no matter what happens in any individual world, it doesn't actually affect the whole."

To make his words more vivid, Supreme Doctor Strange manipulated the changes within the white sphere as he spoke.

Inside the sphere, the multicolored light fragments constantly shifted—at one moment forming a straight line, the next moment shaping into a 'V'—almost as if showing off.

Finally, with a snap of his fingers, Supreme Doctor Strange restored everything inside the sphere to its original state.

He spoke again, "If, during a multiversal event, these beings originally meant to travel to different universes end up in unintended ones due to certain circumstances, would that actually affect the infinite worlds as a whole?"

Inside the sphere, an operation was demonstrated.

Red fragments that landed on the orange sphere, orange fragments on the yellow sphere, yellow fragments on the green sphere—all these misplaced fragments, which had invaded different parallel universes, were extracted and gathered into a single universe.

This time, Peter understood completely.

The meaning was clear: those entities—like the Paper Vulture, the Wind God Pterosaur, and the Allosaurus—had already been displaced from their native universes due to a multiversal event. Whether they followed the "original rules" and went to Parallel Universe 1 or were taken by Peter to Parallel Universe 2, it ultimately made no difference.

Because it all still fell within the scope of a multiversal event!

After understanding this, Peter asked another question, "Then, as someone who comes from a different universe and has entered this one, making changes to it, why do you think the impact is insignificant and therefore acceptable?"

He still remembered what Supreme Doctor Strange had said when they first met.

It was precisely because Peter's influence on this world was growing that Supreme Doctor Strange feared it might attract the attention of Nathaniel Richards. That was the reason he had come to meet Peter in the first place.

Otherwise, Peter might never have even known such a powerful figure existed in this world!

Supreme Doctor Strange resided within the Soul Stone's dimension, essentially an independent micro-world—finding him under normal circumstances was practically impossible.

Yet, at the same time, Supreme Doctor Strange seemed to tacitly allow Peter's small-scale alterations to this world. This contradiction left Peter puzzled.

Supreme Doctor Strange said, "Have you watched Game of Thrones?"

Peter nodded.

"There's a line in it: 'Chaos is a ladder.' This chaos sweeping across the multiverse could also be your ladder! Your origin, your very existence, has already destined you to confront him one day. If you don't want to be utterly defeated, seize everything you need in this chaos!"
