The Dawn

"Of all the wretched, the devil is the most innocent."

Long before the present, there was a great war in heaven between God and Lucifer. The valiant Chief Commander, Michael, fought the side of God.

Lucifer, with just one-third of the legion, fought the battle fiercely with all his might and unyielding determination. Despite Lucifer's undeniable power, Michael proved to be his equal in war, ultimately leading to Lucifer's defeat after relentless Chaos and destruction. Michael gained the victory and cast out Lucifer into the Void.

The fallen one suffered over time, weighed down by his failure. His very essence shifted, longing for solitude and he couldn't live with the remaining fallen ones too, who battled his side and endured. So, he took it upon himself to separate from Satan, the other half that exists within him. While Lucifer sought solace in the Void, Satan chose to go into the world of the living with the rest of the devils, promising he would never interfere with humans. A pact was made and they both went their separate ways, never to cross paths again.

Time continued to unfold. Lucifer could only journey the dark dimensions, in complete silence and darkness. He grew tired, so he resolved on a creation. The ultimate taboo, forbidden and almost impossible. But he had something so great to offer, something that would never be denied for an exchange.

He would've never truly understood his yearning for light until he ventured into the depths of darkness.

So he broke his rib in agony and held it up above his head. His powerful angelic voice made a plea for an exchange of life with his immortality. There was a tense silence as he waited anxiously, unsure if his request would be granted. Then in a miraculous moment, he saw the light emerge from his rib, unusually bright and glorious, bringing tears to his eyes. And it was with great joy he saw that a baby boy slowly began to materialise before him. He could not believe his eyes, that the darkness didn't seem to exist anymore. He cried out in joy,

"I shall name you Lucas, the bringer of light," said Lucifer. With confidence and pride on his face, he bestowed a gentle kiss on his baby boy's head.

Lucifer had nothing to give to his son except the authority over the eternal abyss of the Void, his home. Lucas Lucifer was then gifted with the curse of forever having supremacy over the endless Void and it shall be his source of strength and power but the price of having limitless dominance would not come easy.

Not long after his birth, words reached God that the Void had a brilliant glow of light. His curiosity grew, for no light could glow with such intensity to shut out the darkness. God called out Michael and commanded him to find out the cause of it. Without hesitation, Michael embarked on his mission and was stunned by what he discovered when he encountered Lucifer.

"Lucifer," Michael gasped, shaking his head in disbelief. "What have you done?"

Michael stood there, stunned by the irreversible act committed by Lucifer. Amid his shock and disbelief, Lucifer simply chuckled

"Brother, behold! I have done it, I have forged my creation," Lucifer declared proudly as he gazed at Michael.

He does not harbour bitterness towards Michael for the past, instead, Lucifer feels elation at his brother's presence. Finally, Michael came to witness his magnificent creation.

Michael gazed at what Lucifer had created, struggling to come to terms with the reality of the situation. Time for Lucifer is fixed now though Michael fought him to this without an alternative. He still couldn't accept that his brother would soon exist no more, the only person who was once his greatest inspiration.

"But why?" Michael inquired, his eyes filled with confusion and disbelief "Why did you have to do that?"

He demanded an explanation, a justification for what could make him take such a decision. Only a mistake could be the reason or what else can amount to the price of something so precious?

"Michael, you see," Lucifer began, his voice tinged with sorrow. "My condemnation of eternal life with this heart of mine has to be the ultimate suffering. Father's infinite torture pales to the agony of betrayal and the meaningless time I have eternally."

Lucifer paused and gazed lovingly down at the baby with a gentle smile on his face. The baby peacefully slept in his arms, under protection and unsurmountable love that emitted a heavenly glow.

Michael, still uneasy and without a blink of an eye, observes as Lucifer showers affection on the baby without any regard for the consequences of his actions.

His behaviour, so caring and true, gently prods at Luu's cheek with a finger, a smile plastered on his face as if Michael's presence didn't matter.

Michael remains patient but concerned, sensing that something was wrong with his beloved brother.

"I can hear your thoughts Michael" Lucifer said, his eyes still fixed on Lucas. "Your worries are so loud I can hear them in this Silence"

Michael did not respond, he could only remain silent and continue to observe. Lucifer looks up and adds,

"Michael?" He said, lowering his voice ever so slightly so the baby wouldn't wake. "Did you know that Darkness gave birth to Light?"

Michael paused for a moment. A flicker of doubt in his eyes.

"I did not know that Lucifer," he answered. , "I believe that it is the light that came first into being."

"No," Lucifer countered. "No, it's not that simple."

He knows now how the creation began because he has done it too. But he wouldn't have attained that if he never had lived in total darkness for eternity.

His gaze went back to the baby in his arms. The beautiful little boy he loved so dearly, his eyes glittered with tears.

"My dear brother," he declared, "behold Love, which I have given a form, sculpted from the depths of my heart, the only thing left for me in this infinite darkness, where I yearn for Light."

Lucifer's words are like a mystery that only he and God can put together, no one else can grasp the same reality and truth as he can.

As he looked up, Michael could have sworn he had never seen Lucifer so at peace and content.

There was no hint of pain or darkness on his face, despite his reputation. At that moment, Lucifer felt only two things: Love and pity for those who will never have the patience to discover the truth in their endless existence.

Lucifer exclaimed, "Oh, how pitiful I was to blame myself for the darkness within me all this time. It was all part of his grand plan, Michael. I was simply a vessel for his true self, to be unleashed when he saw the right time to create his so-called paradise. Everything he did, he did for a reason."

Michael was left speechless, filled with curiosity.

"He was scared that Heaven would discover his true nature," Lucifer admitted. "So he had to expedite the process, allowing the seed he planted in me to advance unnaturally. It spiralled out of control, but I am grateful he picked me, Michael." As he spoke, every word filled Michael with uncertainty and wonder.

Michael could see through his eyes the depth of his joy and pride. Lucifer had never been more satisfied, before enduring the infinite tortures in time and until he discovered the true light within himself.

This newfound calmness and serenity would not have been possible without the trials he had faced and Michael would never have seen his brother so content as he is now. They both had no room for complaints, in the end, it only led to completeness.

Lucifer then posed a perplexing question to Michael amid the unfathomable darkness:

"What do you suppose your heart craves the most within this abyss?" To which Michael, utterly baffled by the Void, could only stutter:

"Light. You mentioned light."

"Yes, light indeed, Michael," Lucifer echoed. "But not just any light, brother. You will yearn for a light that can vanquish even the deepest darkness. And when that desire arises, you will give up anything to make that light shine."

Lucifer was well aware that he, more than anyone else, understood the boundless sufferings within the Void. With conviction, he proclaimed,

"That's why I made the ultimate sacrifice to restore balance to this absurd, illusory world. Someone needs to be the bridge between Darkness and Light."

Meanwhile, Michael stood in guilt, realising the consequences of his actions towards his brother, ignorant of their father's intentions.

Lucifer's eyes filled with tears. He was on the verge of losing himself as he gritted his teeth and said,

"This I declare, Michael, that my Love and his Love are aeons apart. While I sacrificed myself for my boy, he sacrificed his boy for himself."

He stood up and as he lifted little Luu above his head, Michael witnessed a light so extraordinary, that dark strings danced in the brightest light he had ever seen in his infinite lifetime.

Lucifer thundered.

"You are the son of Lucifer, the bringer of light, you shall have my life and claim my rightful place again."

His voice woke the baby. This was when Michael saw Luu for the first time. His angelic face perfectly cuddled by dark locks, he was an angel in the making. Michael smiled at the baby. The baby gazed fondly into his eyes and gurgled. Truly, nothing can be sweeter.

They departed after a long conversation and plans for the baby, with words of forgiveness for all their past too.

Michael returned to Heaven with a message and a request from Lucifer.

"Father," he said, humbly getting down on his knees before the presence of God as he confessed. "It was Lucifer. He brought forth a creation of his own."

God shifted his gaze to Michael, a mix of shock and familiarity in his expression. After a moment, he leaned back and let out a sigh.

"So, he exchanged his own existence for this creation."

"Yes, Father, he did," Michael answered and added with a tint of brightness. "And I've never seen him happier than he is now."

"Lucifer… Oh! Lucifer," God lamented. "He would do anything to infuriate me."

Michael approached God with a humble bow, his eyes filled with reverence as he made his request.

"Father, he has a matter to discuss with you as well."

God's booming voice echoed through the celestial realm as he inquired, "What is it?"

With much humility, Michael said,

"Lucifer believes that his son embodies a balance of both Darkness and Light. Though he turned his back on heaven, Lucifer has one last plea to make before his time runs out - to accept his son Lucas into the kingdom."

The weight of the request hung heavily in the air, and the silence was deafening. Michael, usually composed, stood before God with an uncharacteristic unease in his demeanour.

"Michael," God called out. "I understand he's your brother, but he turned his back on us so there's no need to serve him now. He chose his fate."

Undeterred, Michael once again spoke up for his brother, Lucifer, who had shared his final wishes.

"Why would he want to send his son to a place he despises, Michael?" God judged. "What is the motive behind this?"

Michael pleaded on behalf of Lucifer, explaining that he had changed and come to terms with his fate. All he desires now is for his son to never feel abandoned and that he simply hopes for his son to have a home and to fulfil his purpose.

God listened intently and at last declared,

"When can I see Lucas, the son of Lucifer?"

"Anytime he wishes to, Father," Michael replied. "I shall ask him that myself and bring him to you."

"So be it."

Gratefully, Michael knelt before God and expressed his gratitude for allowing Lucas to come. When he rose, his head was bowed in honour.

"He still loves you, Father," Michael announced. "He understands you better than any of us. His son is a gift to your sovereignty; the greatest gift he could offer his Father."

"Michael!" God rebuked. "You do not say these words to me."

Michael flinched upon hearing God's change in tone. He stood up straight, forming himself obediently.

"I'm sorry, Father," Michael bowed in humility.

"I beg your forgiveness."

"Be gone now," God commanded. "And let me see Lucas Lucifer at the earliest, I shall decide if he's worth his father's sacrifice."

Michael stood up and took a bow. He left his presence in one streak of lightning.

Before creation began, there was a Void. Infinity was cold and empty but life was there. Thus, it existed formless from the very beginning of the incomprehensible time until the Gods came into being. Upon being formed by the void, nothingness evolved as a home for him. He was the first but not the only one who came into existence. Few celestials came into being after, but he knew infinitely more than the ones that followed. They relied on him, they were loyal and obedient to the original. The two equals of God: Seraphim and Cherubim were the closest to him and they took on many forms. But the Void's creation didn't stop. The growing numbers of the celestials brought separations and conflict. God, tired of the ever-growing Disorder, grew ambitious in his quest for absolute power. He embarked on a journey to unravel the mysteries of life itself. As he delved into the secrets of Time, he deftly manipulated its forces to bring about existence in a new form. Their fleeting moment of existence endured until he uncovered the key to the very first thing. Mastering the laws of creation, life began to grow and he attained everlasting life. By bending the rules of the natural order, he halted the creation of the Void and ascended to become the ultimate being. With much of the universe under his control, he unleashed his cruelty upon the remaining celestials, sparing only those who pledged their allegiance to him. Yet, there were a few who dared to defy him and peacefully left his presence. Together with his loyal celestials, God crafted a paradise, until they discovered the potential for another creation from the remnants of the celestials.

Then our creation began…
