Chapter 1 - The Harem

"Sinclair Clothing Brand maintained their spot as a number one clothing brand in the country in a recent annual survey and sales analysis, receiving continued support and good feedback from their customers surpassing the..."

Before the news ended, Alexandria turned off the television as she continued to skim on those piles of papers on the coffee table while leaning on the backrest of her sofa. She put down some papers and handed the other to her assistant, who's sitting beside.

"I'm planning to have the vicuna fabric as the major highlight of our next set of design that we will release later this year."

"Vicuna fabric? It's too expensive and rare. Are you sure to have it as a highlight of the design, Ms. Alex?" asked the assistant while scanning the paper.

"It's fine. You just need to inform the production development department about it, so we can reserve and import from another country in time before the set production date." Alexandria stated. "Anyway, I've been busy these past few weeks. How's the design team progress? Did they already do some changes in their design like I told them? We will have a meeting with the CEO and other board of directors regarding the plan and designed for this upcoming event, so I need their samples."

"Don't worry about it. They're already working on it. We might get their latest design before the meeting."

"Please take care of it as soon as possible. I need to oversee the overall designs before we present it to the CEO and board of directors."

"I'll informed them about it."

Amidst their serious conversation, the main door abruptly opened that caught the two people's attention. They saw a middle-aged man in his butler's suit standing with those stern faces. It's the Sinclair's well-known butler, Mr. Harlan. He's mostly working in the main house, serving the head of the Sinclair family.

"What brought you here, Mr. Harlan?" Alexandria asked, focusing her attention on the paper again.

"Mr. Sinclair is on his way home. He wanted to have lunch together with the others, including you. I'm here to inform you as per his order. Please, make time for this."

Upon hearing his reason, Alexandria heaves a deep sighed while putting the papers back on the table. She looked at the wall clock and glanced at the butler, who's still waiting for her response.

Over an entire month had gone by since she last met her husband. He got occupied with his out of the country business affairs, meeting some huge clients, investors and so, while Alexandria's taking his role as a representative for some important gatherings and meetings in the country.

For them, it's all about business.

Hence, it's not like they didn't communicate throughout his absence. They often called each other every once a week to catch up regarding the company affairs.

"Ms. Alex?" the butler said, catching her attention. "Are you coming?"

"Can't I just skip it? This is the only day that I can rest in my room."

"You should come. The other two are already preparing themselves to meet up with Mr. Sinclair."

"Fine. Whatever, it's not like I had all the rights to disagree with his decision. I'll go there by myself. Let me just finished briefing my assistant about the upcoming meeting."

"Please, don't take too much time. Mr. Sinclair was on his way. Don't make him wait, he doesn't like it." The butler stated and left the house without changing his expression.

"Now, where are we again?"

Alexandria turned to her assistant and took the papers again. They continued to talk about the meeting, presentation and other things regarding the designs.

It took them another ten minutes to finish everything and after some quick summarization; she dismissed her assistant—letting him brought some important documents.

She was about to go upstairs and changed her clothes when her phone suddenly rang. She took it from the center table and saw the name 'Model Elijah', who took up her call logs these past few weeks. He's a freelance model, two years younger than her, yet ruled the Paris Fashion Week last year with a set of clothes that are designed by Alexandria.

The planning team wanted him to hire once again as a magazine cover model for their November release. Not only that, but he's also one of the model in talks to represent the upcoming sets of design that will release later this year.

However, since he's a well-known freelance model and not affiliated with the company, the conflict of schedule was inevitable.

But some miracle happened when Alexandria and Elijah met at an event. They exchanged numbers and have been in contact since then, mostly they're talking about fashion design. One thing she learned from their interaction, he's talkative and a hyperactive man.

And as the phone rang again, she couldn't help but shrugged and answered it while walking upstairs to change her clothes, preparing to meet up with her husband.

"What is it? Didn't I tell you not to call me when I'm in rest?" She asked.

"What's with the irritation, my lady? Did something happen?"

"State your business, kid."

"Short-tempered. Anyway, did you see the pictures I send to you? I'm planning to attend an important event today. Can you pick suitable clothes for me? Pretty please? I can't trust my stylist, for this matter."

Alexandria rolled her eyes because of the words he uttered. "I'm a professional, money first before service."

"Argh. What's with you? Aren't we friend? Spare me this time. I know how well paid you are in your company, but this is a crucial. Besides, don't you need me? There are a lot of excellent offers coming to me nowadays, so..."

"Fine. I'll look at it later. Is that all you want?"

"Why don't we meet?"

"I'll call you later, gonna hangup now." She said before ending the call, not giving him a chance to retaliate.

She heaves a deep sighed in disbelief and threw her phone on the bed as she picked some casual clothes to change into her wardrobe.

After a few minutes of fixing herself, she went out of the house and was about to go on the main house, which was only a few steps away from hers, when she noticed a familiar car stopping in the driveway. She halted from walking upon seeing the car's back door opened and showed the masculine, sturdy back of her husband, Felix Sinclair, the CEO of Sinclair Clothing Company.

He's still wearing his business suit with his hair styled in slicked back.

It didn't take another second before their eyes met, but Alexandria looked away and stepped back a little, not saying a single word.

"It's been a while. I didn't expect to see you as soon as I walked out of the car." He said, looking at her from head to toe.

"Same to you. I didn't expect to see you as soon as I came out of the house. Why do you need to come at this time, though?"

Felix chuckled. "Shall we go to the main house together?"

Out of nowhere, he offered his hand to her that made Alexandria got lost in thoughts for a second while giving him a disbelief glare.

It's rare for him to be this kind since he builds his harem. He often neglected her over his other two wives. It's as if their relationship wasn't husband and wife, but a business partner.

It's once in a blue moon opportunity for her, so she unconsciously reached her hands on him, but halted when they heard a thin voice of a child calling him daddy that made Alexandria pulled her hands back and turned to where the voice came from. It's his daughter, Jeanne Sinclair. His first child with his second wife, Amber Hartley-Sinclair.

They saw the child run towards him with those innocent wide smiles followed by her mother, Amber.

"Daddy, I miss you. You really came back. You aren't leaving for so long again, am I right?" The child asked whilst hugging her father.

"For now, I don't have any plan. How's my little princess? Are you behaving well? Daddy missed you too." He uttered, shuffling the child's hair.

"It's nice to see you back, Felix. How's the business trip?" Amber asked, catching the man's attention, which didn't fail.

"A successful trip, I guess." Felix smiled and walked in her direction as he gave him a peck on the lips that made Alexandria looked away with those clenched fists. "Shall we go inside? Where's Sabrina and Jarren?"

"They'll probably be inside and waiting for you. Where else they could go?"

"Dad, can you carry Jeanne? It's been a while." The child raised both hands, a sign that she wanted to be carried by him, which Felix did.

He carried her on his left arms as he unconsciously put the other around Amber's shoulder as they walked ahead, leaving Alexandria in the same spot as if she didn't exist.

She couldn't help but to chortled while watching them walking like a happy family—like a spectator she is. But then, after a few steps, she saw Felix glanced back in her direction, not saying anything, not even removing his arms around his second wife.

She doesn't know what's that look means, he always giving her the same gaze since he build his harem.

One thing she knew, he never gave her the same affection as his other wives.

However, instead of thinking about complicated things, she just followed them to the main house. Yet, upon entering the premise, another unexpected scene welcomed her, showing Felix, third wife, Sabrina Pemberton-Sinclair, clinging to him like he'll get away in a second while on the other side, his second wife's doing the same thing. They all did that in front of their children that made Alexandria shrugged.

"Sir, everything's ready in the dining hall. You can change your clothes at your room first. I'll escorted them to the dining hall." Mr. Harlan said, showing out of nowhere.

"Let me help you changed your clothes, hon," Sabrina said in her puppy tone.

"Why don't you take care of your child first? I can accompany him to his room." Amber uttered.

"I need to talk to him. Besides, I have something important to tell him." A wide grin formed on Sabrina's lips, glancing to Amber before looking to Felix. "Hon, it's really important."

"Tsk. Why don't you just tell it here? Is it some kind of secret or what? You just want all his attention, right?" Amber asked.

"What?!"

"Why? Can't say it? What do you want him to buy for you this time?"

"Tsk. If you think that way, I might as well as say it here then. Don't blamed me since you asked for it." Sabrina hissed. "I'm pregnant with your child. Two months pregnant in precise."

A deafening silence lingered throughout the living room after Sabrina uttered those sudden announcements that even Felix, who's always calm, left speechless while staring at her with those widened eyes.
