Chapter 1 - chapter 1

Ring ring ringgggggggg. "Ugh, I'm up," I grumbled, smacking my stupid alarm clock. "Thanks for waking me up," I added sarcastically, dragging myself into consciousness. What a way to wake up. I groaned, sitting up in bed and rubbing the remnants of sleep from my eyes. My limbs felt heavy, but today wasn't the kind of day I could afford to sleep in. Getting up from the bed, I shuffled towards the bathroom, the cool air nipping at my skin.

Today is the day I awaken my Soul Beast.

Yes, you heard that right. This isn't a normal day by any stretch, nor is it a normal world. My name is Night. I know, it sounds odd—what kind of parents would name their kid Night? But here's the thing: it's not my real name, and they're not my real parents. I'm not from this world at all. I'm from Earth.

I woke up in this world by accident, a twist of fate or maybe something else entirely. See, back on Earth, I was just an ordinary guy, minding my own business until I started reading a novel introduced to me by my sister. She's a fujoshi, a woman who loves BL (Boys' Love) stories, and she kept bugging me about this particular novel. "It's so interesting," she'd say, practically shoving the book in my face. "You'll love it, trust me."

I wasn't really into the genre, but she was relentless. Finally, to get her off my back, I gave in and started reading. To be honest, the main reason I kept going wasn't the plot or the romance—it was the villain. There was something about him that drew me in. He went through so much, and I couldn't help but feel a connection to him. Wait, let me explain.

The villain, named Azrael, was from a family of powerful Soul Beast Masters. He wasn't your typical antagonist; his story was tragic, filled with pain and betrayal. When Azrael and his sister were born—yes, you heard it right, she—they were twins. His sister's name was Seraphina. I know what you're thinking: why call her a villain instead of a villainess? But there's more to it. And, just to make it even more twisted, his sister Seraphina was the female lead of the story. Funny, right? How one twin becomes the villain while the other is the heroine.

Their story began on the day they were born. Coming from a family that usually had only one descendant per generation, the birth of twins was a joyous occasion. However, the fact that both were the same gender didn't sit well with their family. For some psychopathic reason, the family decided to lie, claiming one of the twins was a boy. Azrael, the villain, was the unfortunate child forced into this role, presented to the world as a male.

Growing up, Azrael naturally exhibited more feminine traits. This led to ridicule and laughter from those around him. People mocked him for being more feminine than most women, not knowing the truth about his gender. Azrael, unaware that he was actually a girl, internalized the shame, feeling sad and inadequate. Meanwhile, Seraphina thrived. She was praised for her brilliance, innocence, and kindness, making her the darling of their world. People adored her and often compared her to Azrael, who they viewed as a disappointment.

But Seraphina wasn't as kind as she seemed. She relished every opportunity to step on Azrael, to belittle him. On their 18th birthday, everything changed. Azrael awakened a powerful Soul Beast of the highest grade—a Purple grade. In this world, Soul Beasts were ranked from lowest to highest as White, Blue, Yellow, Green, Orange, Red, Purple, Silver, and Gold. The Purple grade was one of the most powerful, a testament to Azrael's potential.

Seraphina, on the other hand, awakened an Orange grade, much lower than his. Envy consumed her. She ran to their parents, insisting that it wasn't fair for her weaker brother to possess such power. The family, always more concerned with appearances and power, agreed that it would be best if Azrael's Purple grade Soul Beast was taken from him and given to Seraphina. They rationalized that she could bring more fame and honor to the family than the "sissy" brother ever could.

That night, something horrific happened. Azrael's Soul Beast was forcibly ripped from him. His connection to the powerful beast severed, he was left with a White grade, the lowest of all. Disabled, humiliated, and degraded, he was abandoned, left for dead in a cold, dark room. But Azrael didn't die. A kind servant, risking their life, secretly brought him food and water, helping him survive in the shadows.

However, the tragedy didn't end there. Azrael's Soul Beast, a majestic Red Fox, was taken from him. And as if that wasn't enough, Seraphina, the golden child, ordered the servant who had helped him to be executed. Azrael, now powerless and alone, was left to grapple with the betrayal and cruelty of his own family. I couldn't bring myself to read beyond that point. It was too tragic, too senseless. The depths of their cruelty, the way they stripped him of his identity, his power, and even his humanity, was too much.

And the most twisted part? Seraphina knew the truth. She knew Azrael was a girl but chose to keep it a secret, using it as a weapon against him. They even forced him to live as a boy, erasing his true identity. Despite all this, Azrael still retained the ability to give birth, a cruel reminder of his stolen past and the life he could never truly live.
