Chapter 2 - chapter 2

After reading the story, Night couldn't bear to finish it. If he had, he would have known that the story ended with the villain, Azrael Darkmoor, killing everyone, including Seraphina, the female lead, and even the main lead and his family, the Everwoods. Azrael's powers had reached a terrifying level, causing the destruction of the world. But Night never got that far. Overwhelmed by the tragedy, he stopped midway, unable to continue.

The story haunted him. He couldn't shake off the image of Azrael, the misunderstood and wronged villain, who had suffered so much only to become the destroyer of worlds. It was as if the weight of the character's pain had seeped into his very being, making him feel for the fictional villain in a way he hadn't expected.

That night, while asleep, Night woke up in an unfamiliar place. It was surreal, as if he was floating in the clouds while submerged underwater at the same time. The surroundings were ethereal, glowing with a soft, otherworldly light. "Where am I? What am I doing here?" These were the first thoughts that ran through his mind as he tried to make sense of the strange environment.

But instead of pondering his peculiar circumstances, a different thought surfaced—I couldn't finish my burgers and fries left in the fridge. Dammit, that sister of mine is going to eat it all herself. The mundane worry clashed with the surreal situation, making the whole experience even more bizarre.

A voice broke through his thoughts. "I see you are handling it well," a man said, walking towards him. Light surrounded the figure, making it impossible to discern his features. The man's presence exuded an aura of power and serenity, filling the space with an unspoken authority.

"Who are you?" Night asked, trying to focus on the figure before him, his curiosity piqued by the mysterious stranger.

"I am the Guardian of the Worlds," the man responded, his voice calm yet commanding, resonating with an ancient wisdom that seemed to echo through the air.

"The Guardian? So, what does that have to do with me?" Night asked, his confusion growing. The title sounded important, but he couldn't fathom how it related to him, an ordinary guy who had somehow found himself in this strange place.

"Nothing, and at the same time, everything," the Guardian said cryptically. His words hung in the air, layered with meaning that Night couldn't yet grasp. Without saying more, the Guardian snapped his fingers, and in an instant, Night felt himself being pulled away, the surreal surroundings fading into oblivion.

"I've helped you. Do not let me down. Take good care of him for me," the strange man whispered, his voice a fading echo as he disappeared from sight.

And just like that, Night found himself in this world—a world that was as strange as the dream-like place he had just left, yet somehow more real, more tangible.

"Ha, I've been thinking too much," Night muttered, shaking off the remnants of the strange dream as he prepared for the day. The lingering thoughts of the Guardian and his cryptic words faded as the morning routine took over.

Rushing downstairs, he was greeted by the sight of his parents and his baby brother, who was surprisingly only a month old. "I mean, this dude could pass as my son," Night thought, a smile tugging at the corners of his lips. One thing was certain—his parents hadn't stopped trying for more children, and their youngest addition was a testament to their unwavering hope.

Night also had an older sister. "Dammit, why won't you pick up my calls?" she shouted as she entered the house, clearly exasperated. Spotting Night, she put the phone in her pocket, her frustration melting into a warm smile. She hugged him tightly and said, "Good luck."

Both of Night's parents had awakened White grade Soul Beasts, the lowest grade in their world. His sister, meanwhile, had awakened a Blue grade Soul Beast, a step above their parents, but still not remarkable. Her boyfriend, apparently unimpressed by her grade, had left her, not caring about her feelings or the effort she had put into training. It was a sore spot, but she carried on, stronger and more determined for it.

Night had been in this world for five years, having arrived when the body he now inhabited was thirteen. By now, this family felt like his own, their love and support making the transition from his old life to this one more bearable. His parents were hardworking, doing everything they could to make a living despite the hand fate had dealt them. His father, who owned a small farm, had a White grade Soul Beast—a Peregrine Falcon, swift and determined. His mother, in contrast, surprised him by awakening a White Tiger as her Soul Beast, a symbol of strength and grace. His sister, following in their mother's footsteps, also had a White Tiger.

As for Night, he was expected to awaken a bird-like his father. The day of awakening had finally arrived, and the anticipation in the house was palpable.
