Chapter 21 - 21. Lost Control

That night, after waiting all day for Odel at home, Clayton was still sitting silently with his head hanging in the corner of the room. His eyes were closed as if he didn't care about the uneasiness that filled the house. Emilio, who was starting to feel uncomfortable because his blood supply had run out, paced back and forth restlessly.

"Daffin, I'm tired of waiting," he said as he walked into the house.

Without a second thought, he jumped to the ceiling and hung upside down, mimicking Clayton's position. "I'll just sleep."

Daffin let out an annoyed sigh, clenching his fists at his sides. "What's wrong with you two? Are you seriously going to trust Odel just like that?!" he said in frustration.

"That girl must have run away from us! We have to find her right now—there's no time to sit around or sleep!"

Clayton only let out a lazy grunt from the corner of the room without opening his eyes.

Still hanging from the ceiling, Emilio muttered softly, "Relax, Daffin. If she did run away, we could always find her later."

"Relax?!" Daffin's eyes widened. "We can't afford to relax! Odel might have gone too far already! We need to find her now before she gets too far away!" he ranted again.

"Daffin, shut up. I can't sleep with you nagging," Emilio protested.

"You guys are unbelievable! You trust her too much! I've been thinking... keeping our distance from her was the worst idea! No matter what, she has to become one of our wives!" Daffin declared firmly.

"You mean you don't care about her choice?" Emilio asked.

"Exactly! Do you really think she'll choose one of us? That's impossible! If we stay here, she could be dating some human guy, and—argh! You know what human relationships are like! What if she gets pregnant?!"

"Daffin!" Clayton suddenly snapped at him. "You just need to shut up and wait! Odel said she'd come back, so just wait!"

But before Clayton could finish his sentence, the sound of the door opening made him stop. All eyes turned to the figure standing at the entrance—Odel. She walked in slowly, her expression unreadable, but her eyes hinted that she might have heard their entire argument.

Without saying a word, Odel gently closed the door, walked past the three of them who were now awkwardly silent, and went straight to her room. The atmosphere in the room became tense and quiet.

Daffin looked stunned as if he wanted to say something, but Emilio spoke first. "Nice job, Daffin. Now we look like a bunch of paranoid vampires." Emilio gracefully dropped from the ceiling and sat on the sofa with a bored expression.

Clayton finally lifted his head slightly, giving Daffin a small, annoying smile. "I think you just messed up, Daffin."

Daffin groaned in frustration and collapsed onto the nearest chair. "Ugh... I just wanted to make sure she wouldn't leave us!"

Clayton climbed down from the ceiling too, gave Daffin a glance, then looked away. Feeling the hunger creeping in, he headed to the storage room. Apparently, he hadn't drunk any blood all day because of his worry. However, the moment he stepped inside and saw the empty shelves, he immediately shouted, "Emilio, where's all the juice?!"

Daffin jumped in surprise, watching as Emilio turned into a black mist and vanished.

"Just ask Baron! He'll send more!"

"Hey, you!" Daffin yelled in frustration.

Clayton stormed out of the storage room, searching for Emilio, but the guy had already disappeared.

"Emilio!" Clayton's eyes suddenly turned red—he hadn't drunk blood all day.

"A-Are you serious, Clayton?" Daffin took a few steps back as he noticed Clayton's glowing red eyes. "Don't tell me you haven't drunk anything since this morning?"

Clayton didn't respond, only letting out a low growl as his fangs began to elongate. Daffin swallowed hard, trying to remember the last time Clayton drank blood. He himself had managed to sip one bottle earlier while ranting—and now he felt incredibly lucky for doing so.

Daffin frantically searched his jacket pockets, hoping to find a spare blood supply, but found nothing—it was all gone. Meanwhile, Emilio had completely escaped in his mist form, leaving them in a critical situation.

Clayton stood on the verge of losing control. His glowing red eyes fixated on Odel's bedroom door with a dangerous intensity. Daffin quickly moved, standing in front of the door with his arms spread wide to block Clayton.

Clayton stood at the brink of his patience, the vampire was beginning to lose control. His eyes burned red as he stared at Odel's bedroom door with a dangerous intensity. Daffin immediately moved, standing in front of the door with his arms outstretched to block Clayton. "Don't even think about it, Clayton! I know you can't control yourself, but don't you dare try to bite Odel!" he shouted in a panic.

Inside the room, Odel heard a commotion outside. Carefully, she opened the door and was instantly met with Clayton's crazed grin. His crimson eyes gleamed sharply, staring at Odel as if she were the only thing that could quench his thirst.

"Odel, close the door! Right now!" Daffin yelled, still struggling to hold Clayton back with all his strength.

Understanding the situation, Odel quickly shut the door.

"What's happening, Daffin?" she asked.

"He's losing control! Emilio drank all his blood supply! Hurry and call Baron to send a new stock!" Daffin urged.

Clayton let out a deep growl, his breathing heavy, as if struggling to hold himself back. "Move, Daffin... I won't hurt her, I just want a taste of her blood! I can't hold on much longer!"

"Stay right there, Clayton! Don't take another step!" Daffin warned with a serious expression.

"You want to stop me? Do you think you can?" Clayton said with a sinister smile.

Inside the room, Odel quickly grabbed her phone, her hands trembling as she tried to call Baron. "Baron's number! Oh no! How could he lose control?"

Bang!

A loud noise echoed like a heavy impact—the vampire fight had begun, making Odel tremble even more.

Someone answered the call, and Baron immediately understood Clayton's condition. He assured her that he would send a blood supply right away, but he wasn't sure if it would arrive on time.

"What?! I'll die today if you're late!" Odel cried out.

"No, Odel! Listen to me…!"

Baron explained something, and Odel's eyes widened in shock. She was stunned by what Baron had just said.

Outside, the situation was getting out of control. The fight between Daffin and Clayton intensified, and Emilio, who had previously run away, returned to assess the situation and quickly stepped in to help Daffin.

"What's going on?" he asked while grabbing Clayton's hand, who was trying to strangle Daffin.

"Are you blind?! He's lost control, you idiot! Why did you drink his blood supply too?!" Daffin snapped, finally gaining some control over the situation as Emilio restrained Clayton's arm.

Held down by his two companions, Clayton couldn't move. His body started to weaken, lacking the energy to stay angry any longer.

Unexpectedly, Odel stepped out of her room and approached them.

"What are you doing, Odel?! Get back to your room!" Emilio shouted.

"Did you call Baron? Tell him to hurry up and go back to your room!" Daffin added.

As if not hearing what Daffin and Emilio were saying, Odel instead walked closer...
