Vol 0: Prologue
Arc 0: In the beginning
Three weeks ago, the first gate appeared in central Tokyo. A massive green portal spanning 6 meters tall, and 10 meters wide appeared.
Panic erupted as people fled, tripping over each other, and chaos quickly engulfed the area, leaving stores abandoned and streets littered with personal belongings.
In the ensuing panic, three mysterious figures walked out of the gate. Each clad in long flowing white robes with gold mouthless masks, they stood and waited, observing the chaos of their arrival.
The remaining people watched, curious at the mysterious figures, although keeping their distance. The figures continued to stand steadfast, waiting until military forces arrived. With weapons drawn, they were order to surrender.
Without a word, the figures raised their hands. A silent wave of power emanated from them, and the entire army blockade fell unconscious. Once more, the figures stood there and waited, scanning the curious onlookers as if expecting someone to appear. Sure enough, they were right.
Slowly, a brave salaryman approached the portal, his curiosity outweighing his fear. He had always been drawn to the unknown, a trait that often got him in trouble but also made him a standout in his mundane office job. Today, it seemed, his curiosity would lead him to his doom.
Compelled by an unseen force, the salaryman slowly stuck out his hand, reaching towards the figures. In-kind, one also reached out their hands; the fingers touched. A luminous trail spread from his finger to his hand, through his arm, up his neck, and finally reached his head. When suddenly.
*SPLAT*
It exploded, blood splattering from his eyes and ears.
The salaryman collapsed dead. The figures retreated into the gate, closing it behind them, leaving no trace they had ever been a gate. People rush to the salaryman, trying to resuscitate him.
Moments later, his body convulsed violently. People screamed and scattered in all directions. His eyes snapped open, now pure white orbs, as he gasped and let out a blood-curdling scream. He sat up abruptly, grasping his head, the pain and confusion evident on his face.
Paramedics rushed to the scene, securing him on a stretcher and whisking him away to a hospital for further examination.
Unbeknownst to them, this marked the birth of the Prophet. The beginning of a new era for humanity.
