Blood flooded the royal hall as many defied Leto and Halia. Palace guards flooded the area but none could contain the calamity sent by god. The ethereal swordsman and angel moved with dreadfully beautiful grace, with not a single moment wasted in whatever they did.
The two seemed perfect.
But alas, a 12 year olds body is still just that, growing, immature, and weak. Despite six years of training, Leto was still miles behind the palace guards who have each trained their whole lives. Slowly, he got overpowered, he was too slow, he misjudged their swings, Leto was falling behind and the tides were turning.
Scratched started appearing on the dark armor, nicks appeared on the swords cold edge, the swordsman's hands and legs trembled from the difference in power. Then lacerations appeared on the armor, the ice sword broke then repaired itself, the arms and legs of the swordsmen gave out momentarily.
Blood seeped from the cracks in the armor.
Blood poured from the cracks in the armor.
The ethereal swordsman now seemed to weak and vulnerable. No longer… ethereal. He was earthly, he was human.
The angel was levitating above the battle, sending gilded ice swords plunging into the soldiers. Archers appeared and fired upon her. She deflected them, and they fired again.
One arrow slipped through her defence, then two, then three.
One arrow nicked her body, then two, then three.
An arrow burrowed into her wing and she faltered, another hit another wing and she fell to the ground. She defended herself on the ground. She tried to at least, despite her being an adult with a healthy, fully grown body, she was still a coward.
Halia was never fit to be in battle, after all, training could never prepare one for battle with all kinds of unknown elements.
The Chevalier and Angel let their status get in their head, and now it was their undoing.
Leto retreated from the battle, he took a battle ready stance and froze, the guards didn't approach for they too needed a breather. As Leto scanned the hall, he noticed the arrows that were piercing the sisters wings, the slashes across them, and then he realized that she wasn't in the air. Dread gripped his heart as a terrifying thought slipped into his mind.
'Is she… dead?'
Then her wings rippled and more gilded ice blades shot all around her. The three men closest to her stopped moving, then a thick line of ice and blood appeared on their chests. Their upper torso separated from the body and frozen blood clanged onto the ground and shattered, then warm blood flooded the area. Four more who were running towards her were killed as well, one decapitated, one had his innards spilt on tue floor in a bloody macabre scene, and the other two had large gashes appear on their stomachs.
'Thank the Night! She isn't dead!
We do need to retreat however, we aren't winning this.'
Leto sprinted towards Halia, avoiding multiple attacks along the way. When he got there he helped her up and began to run.
"Lia! We need to get out of here, can you fly?"
"Not right now, we need to get somewhere safe so I can use healing magic on us, then we can get out of here."
A few guards were blocking the entrance and they needed to kill them in order to leave. Leto and Halia both realized this and without skipping a beat, Halia sent out three more gilded blades and killed two and injured the third. Leto dashed towards two of them and quickly plunged his freezing blade into one's heart, the other received a harrowing wound to his side and fell to his knees.
The other five were stunned with the speed at which their friends were killed or injured. Three rushed toward Leto but never made it as Halia severed their legs with an ice blade she cast. The other two were stunned but still pressed on, going towards Halia. Leto dashed to meet them and slammed his shoulder into one's chest, throwing him to the ground and causing him to desperately gasp for air. The other reacted fast and began to bring his blade down on Leto. He dodged to the side and retaliated, severing his hands, with the next swing, his head turned blue from an extremely cold blade that'd just passed through it, causing the upper half to fall before the rest of his body.
The two dashed out of the palace as an angry mob of soldiers followed. They ran towards the woods, hoping to lose their pursuers. They ran for what felt like hours before stopping. There was an abandoned cabin that was run down but standing strong, they used it as a temporary shelter.
They furtively dwelled in the cabin for a few hours. They heard rustling outside and quickly did their best to hide. After a few minutes, nothing happened and they assumed it was a wild beast. This same thing happened a few times, each time they hid, hoping to not attract any attention. A few hours passed and it was the dead of night
Then, through the cracks between the wood, a dim orange light shone, illuminating the room slightly. They both tensed up as it was way too soon for the sun to be rising. As the light grew brighter, a faint saline could be heard, then the rustling of feet, then the sound was made into voices.
Someone opened the door to the shed, it was a young man with black hair and blue eyes, he was wearing beautifully down black clothes, and behind him, there seemed to be a miniature version of himself with brown eyes.
As fast as Leto and Halia were able to register his presence, cold steel was being plunged into Halia neck, Leto's throat was being strangled with an iron grip. Leto glanced at his sister, who's head was now falling to the floor. A tear fell from her face and immediately turned to ice, a tear fell from Leto's face and it too immediately turned to ice.
Leto didn't get a chance to try and lift a hand before his head was falling to the floor as well.
