Leto's head landed on a soft pillow and he let out a long sigh. He Hagan to cry as the image of his sister being beheaded flashed through his mind.
'Wait, h… how am I…?'
Leto lifted his head and glanced around. He was in a large and nearly furnished room. It seemed to belong to someone rather wealthy because there were soft silk sheets in the bed, paintings on the walls, golden decorations, and two maids standing by the door, their eyes closed.
'Where am I? How am I alive, my head was cut off! What happened to Lia!? Is she alive too? Was it all a dream?!'
Leto had so many questions running through his mind. A few seconds later, the door opened and a young woman stepped through. She was wearing a white shirt and black pants, her hair was black, she had unique eyes, one green and the other gray. She had a nice figure and had a scar on her beautiful face, it started slightly above her green eye and ended near her mouth.
"Ah good, you're awake! I've been wondering when you'd come to."
"Who are you? Where am? Where's my sister!?"
"Woah, calm down kid. You just woke up so you need to take some medicine and get checked out by a physician. I'll tell you everything when you're done with all that."
Leto complied, and went along with what the man said. He didn't trust her yet but really had no other option, a headache was gnawing at his brain, his muscles were extremely sore and hurt, and his body was writhing in pain. He was given a bitter medicine to drink and a few minutes later, an old man with gray hair entered the room. He gave Leto a checkup, checked for a fever, concussion, and a couple other basic symptoms.
Turned out Leto had a high fever, a serious concussion, and his eyesight was slightly deteriorated, not to the point he needed glasses, but enough to notice.
"Now, tell me everything."
"You do realize your in MY mansion, in MY bed, and I'm spending MY money to fix you up, right? Show a little respect."
"…please tell me what happened."
"That's better."
Leto lowered his head and let out a small and annoyed sigh.
"Well first off, I am Mara Aegis and you are near the Northern border of the Keira Empire, in my guest room. Honestly, it's a miracle your alive. When I found you, you had a large wound in your neck and I thought you were dead. When I got closer, your arm moved towards my leg and you tried to say something, but I don't know what it was.
The girl that was beside you beyond saving, I'm assuming that was your sister, yes?"
Leto nodded slowly and brought his hands to his face.
"Her head was completely severed but your was still mostly intact so I was able to save you with a bit of healing magic. You'd lost a lot of blood so it'd be better to stay in bed and rest for a few weeks. If you want, I can take you to where I buried her once your healed up a bit."
Leto nodded and Mara left the room. He cried so much, devastated from the loss of the only person he had in the whole world. Halia was his much more than just a sister, she was a friend and a mother to him, always there for him when he needed her. And now, not only was he alone, he had to carry out the gods tall task alone.
"One more thing before I leave, kid. I know how it feels to lose someone precious, if you need anything I'll be here… or one of my attendants will be."
A few days later, Leto felt he was ready to walk and asked to see his sisters grave. The maids dressed him in a set of warm and comfortable clothes and gave him a cane to support himself with.
He was guided to the back of the manor and went through a gate. In the snowy forest, he followed a short trail and saw many stones poking out of the snow. He was guided to a particular one and on it read: "Halia - Gods Angel".
Leto immediately broke into tears once again and fell to his knees. She didn't want to be an angel, she didn't want to carry out gods wishes, and now, she was dead.
"If only I was stronger, Lia. I could've protected you. If god didn't force his perverse ideals on us you'd still be alive. I'm sorry, I'm so sorry, Lia."
Leto sat there and weeped over his sisters grave. Eventually, new emotions sprung up in his heart. Hatred, anger, and contempt. Leto got on once knee and put his free hand on Halia's gravestone.
"I swear upon your memory that I will kill the people who did this. The black haired man, his son, and even the Lords of Night. I'll kill them all."
He stayed kneeling, head down, and a hand on her gravestone for several minutes.
