Chapter 20 - The “Great” Quest for the Legendary Sandwich

Kaion, still grumbling about his bizarre training session with Grin and the rubber chickens, had barely managed to catch his breath when Grin appeared out of nowhere, practically skipping toward him. His face was lit with excitement, a mischievous twinkle in his eye.

"Kaion, I've got a new challenge for you!" Grin announced, practically bouncing on his toes. "It's going to be legendary."

Kaion, who was still covered in mud and had a lingering headache from the helmet, raised an eyebrow. "Let me guess. A new weapon? A deadly training technique? A massive fight?"

"Nope! It's much better than that," Grin replied, his grin impossibly wide.

"Better? Grin, what are you talking about?"

Grin leaned in closer, almost whispering now. "I'm talking about… the Legendary Sandwich."

Kaion blinked. "The Legendary Sandwich? Are you serious?"

"Oh, I am," Grin said with absolute conviction. "You see, Kaion, there's a sandwich out there—an ancient, mystical sandwich—said to possess power beyond imagination. The greatest of warriors have tried and failed to find it. But I, my friend, have discovered its true location."

"Great," Kaion muttered sarcastically. "A sandwich. This is exactly what I need right now. How is a sandwich going to help me defeat cosmic overlords and save the universe?"

Grin, however, didn't miss a beat. "Ah, but Kaion, this isn't just any sandwich. This is THE sandwich. Whoever consumes it gains unimaginable power. Think of it as the ultimate training fuel!"

Kaion stared at him, deadpan. "So, you want me to embark on some epic quest… for a sandwich?"

"Exactly!" Grin said, like it was the most normal thing in the world. "And it's not just any sandwich—it's a legendary, otherworldly creation. The bread alone is made from grains harvested from the highest peaks of Mount Karos. The cheese? From the mystical cows of the Cloud Meadows. And the sauce? A rare concoction only found in the deepest jungles of Luwin."

Kaion blinked again. "You've gotta be kidding me."

"Do I look like I'm kidding?" Grin asked, his expression dead serious. "Do you want to save the universe, Kaion? Or do you want to waste your time fighting cosmic overlords with your current… lackluster skills?"

Kaion's stomach rumbled. He hadn't eaten in hours, and the thought of a mystical sandwich was oddly appealing. "Fine," he sighed. "Let's go on this ridiculous quest for your sandwich."

Grin clapped his hands together, clearly thrilled. "Yes! Let the search for the Legendary Sandwich begin!"

Raya, who had been eavesdropping from a distance, walked up with an amused smirk on her face. "Did I hear that right? You're going on a quest for a sandwich?"

Kaion groaned. "Apparently so. The fate of the universe hangs in the balance, and the only thing that can save it is a sandwich."

Raya threw her head back and laughed. "Unbelievable. But hey, if it means I get to watch you suffer through more ridiculousness, I'm in."

And with that, the trio—Kaion, Grin, and Raya—set off on what was surely the most ridiculous quest in the history of the universe.

The journey took them through dense forests, across treacherous mountain peaks, and even through swamps that smelled like a thousand rotten eggs. Every step of the way, Grin spoke with reverence about the mythical sandwich and its legendary qualities, while Kaion and Raya exchanged skeptical glances.

Finally, after what felt like an eternity, they arrived at their destination: a humble little shack, nestled deep in the woods, surrounded by a strange mist. The sign outside read, "The Sandwich Shrine."

"Well, this looks legitimate," Kaion said, rolling his eyes. "A shack in the middle of nowhere. Perfect place for a legendary sandwich."

Grin was practically vibrating with excitement. "This is it, Kaion. The Legendary Sandwich is within our reach. The last challenge remains. We must enter the shrine and prove ourselves worthy."

Raya crossed her arms. "I'm just here for the sandwich. If I have to prove myself in any way, I'm leaving."

"Oh, don't worry," Grin said. "It's more like a test of patience than anything else. Trust me, I've done this before. Just follow my lead."

The trio entered the shrine, which was surprisingly well-kept on the inside. A single pedestal sat in the center of the room, with an ornate cover draped over what could only be the Legendary Sandwich.

But as they approached, a booming voice echoed throughout the chamber.

"Who dares seek the Legendary Sandwich?"

Kaion's brow furrowed. "What is this, a talking sandwich shrine?"

Grin raised a hand, his face serious. "It's a sacred test, Kaion. Pay attention."

The voice continued. "Only the worthy may claim the sandwich. To prove your worth, you must answer this riddle."

"Oh great," Kaion muttered. "A riddle. How hard could this be?"

The voice boomed again. "What walks on four legs in the morning, two legs at noon, and three legs in the evening?"

Kaion blinked. "What kind of riddle is this? Is it a riddle about a person or something?"

"I know! It's a human!" Grin shouted triumphantly.

The voice echoed again. "Correct. Now, for the second challenge."

"Wait, there's more?" Kaion groaned.

The voice gave a sinister chuckle. "Indeed. The next challenge is..."

A pause. Then the voice continued. "Who is the greatest warrior of all time?"

Grin didn't even hesitate. "Me! Obviously."

The voice was silent for a moment before replying, "Incorrect. The answer is Kaion."

"Wait, what?" Kaion exclaimed. "I'm the greatest warrior?"

The voice laughed. "Of course! You've come all this way and survived every ridiculous challenge. Now you are ready for the Legendary Sandwich!"

Suddenly, the pedestal began to glow, and a shimmering sandwich appeared before them. It was perfect—golden bread, melted cheese, and the most tantalizing aroma Kaion had ever smelled.

"Eat it," the voice said. "And gain its power."

Without waiting another moment, Kaion grabbed the sandwich and took a massive bite. As soon as he swallowed, he felt an odd surge of energy—like he could take on anything. It was like he had unlocked a whole new level of power… but also a very full stomach.

"Well," Kaion said, wiping his mouth. "That was... unexpected."

Grin clapped him on the back. "See? I told you! The Legendary Sandwich!"

Raya was staring at Kaion, her eyes wide. "Are you seriously telling me that this is the secret to defeating cosmic overlords?"

"Apparently so," Kaion said, holding his stomach. "I guess the power of sandwiches really is unstoppable."
