Chapter 21 - The Great Sandwich Debate

The Legendary Sandwich had done wonders for Kaion's confidence. After consuming its mystical power (and, of course, savoring every bite), he felt like he could take on anything. He was ready to face whatever cosmic horror lay in his future. But first, there was a more pressing matter to attend to.

"So, uh," Kaion began, looking at Grin and Raya, "now that we've got the whole 'Legendary Sandwich' thing out of the way, what's next? Do we go back to training? Or maybe we can just sit back and let the sandwich power do all the work for us?"

Raya raised an eyebrow. "Do you really think eating a sandwich makes you invincible, Kaion?"

"Well, it's not just any sandwich," Kaion replied, puffing out his chest. "It's the Legendary Sandwich. I think it's got some serious power behind it."

Grin, who had been oddly quiet since the sandwich consumption, finally spoke up. "You know what, Kaion? I'm starting to think you're right. That sandwich… it's something special. But we can't rest on our laurels just yet. There's still the matter of the Voidbringer."

Kaion looked at him, unblinking. "Grin, I just ate a magical sandwich. I feel like I could take on the entire universe right now. So, if the Voidbringer wants a piece of me, he'd better bring a snack to match this sandwich!"

Raya chuckled. "Maybe the Voidbringer's evil plan involves sandwich stealing. Watch out, Kaion. He might try to take your lunch."

"You joke," Kaion said seriously, "but if he dares to take this sandwich, I will end him."

Grin smirked. "Well, if you're feeling that confident, how about a little challenge to test out that sandwich power?"

Kaion's eyes lit up. "Now you're speaking my language. A test of strength? A battle? A cosmic showdown? I'm ready for anything."

Grin's grin widened. "Not exactly. I was thinking more along the lines of… a cook-off."

"A what?" Kaion asked, blinking.

"A cook-off!" Grin repeated, as though it was the most natural thing in the world. "We're going to see who can make the best sandwich. You, me, and Raya. Whoever makes the most legendary sandwich will be crowned the true sandwich champion."

Kaion stared at him. "Grin, are you for real? You want us to… make sandwiches?"

"Well, it's a test of skill, creativity, and flavor," Grin explained. "Plus, if we can't even make a decent sandwich, what are we doing calling ourselves warriors, huh?"

Raya started cracking up. "I love it. This is officially the best idea you've ever had, Grin. Kaion, you're going down. I'm going to make the most perfect sandwich the world has ever seen."

"Fine, fine," Kaion said, throwing his hands up in mock surrender. "Let's see what you've got. But just so you know, I'm going to make a sandwich so good that even the Voidbringer would want to negotiate peace over it."

Grin clapped his hands together. "That's the spirit! Okay, get your sandwich-making skills ready. I'm going to prepare my masterpiece."

Raya immediately pulled out a notebook and began writing down ideas. "I'm thinking something with lots of spice," she muttered to herself. "And maybe some rare herbs from the Cloud Meadows."

Kaion scratched his chin. "You know what? I'm going to go with a classic—bread, cheese, and whatever else makes it worthy of the title 'Legendary.' The power of simplicity is underrated."

"Good luck with that," Raya teased. "I'm going to bring the heat!"

The three of them headed to the makeshift kitchen area that Grin had set up earlier, complete with a magical grill that could toast sandwiches to perfection. They each grabbed their ingredients and set to work, grinning at each other like competitive chefs on a cooking show.

As Kaion prepared his sandwich, he felt an odd sense of pride. Sure, he'd fought in epic battles and faced down unimaginable odds, but now he was being challenged by the art of sandwich-making. There was something strangely satisfying about the process—the careful layering of ingredients, the delicate balance of flavors, and the intense focus required to create the perfect sandwich.

Meanwhile, Grin was having a blast. His sandwich, which seemed to be evolving into something that looked more like a sculpture than a meal, was getting more and more extravagant by the second. He had piled on layers of meats, cheeses, vegetables, and—strangely enough—tiny glowing gems he had found during their travels. It looked absurd, but Grin was all in.

Raya, on the other hand, was taking a more delicate approach. She had a jar of something that resembled "fiery sauce" and was carefully drizzling it over her creation with the precision of a master artist. Her sandwich was fiery, colorful, and had a slight glow emanating from it.

"Time's up!" Grin declared, holding his masterpiece aloft with a proud smirk. "The cook-off is over. Let's see who made the best sandwich!"

Kaion stared at his simple creation—a humble but perfectly toasted sandwich filled with cheese, ham, and some of the mystical vegetables they had harvested during their journey. It wasn't flashy, but he knew it was good. In his heart, he felt it was a sandwich that represented him: humble, but with a hidden strength.

Raya's sandwich was bursting with color, adorned with spicy herbs and glistening with sauce. It looked like something out of a gourmet cookbook. "You ready for this?" she asked, her grin wide.

Grin held up his own creation, which looked like a towering monstrosity of various meats, glowing ingredients, and something that might have been magical ooze. "Behold, my masterpiece!"

They all took a bite at the same time, and for a moment, there was complete silence.

Kaion's eyes widened as he chewed. The sandwich was... incredible. It had a richness that he'd never tasted before. The flavors danced on his tongue, and he could feel the energy coursing through him. This sandwich wasn't just delicious—it was powerful.

Grin's sandwich, though visually overwhelming, was a bit too much to handle. "Oh wow, this is... intense," Kaion managed, trying to chew through a layer of what might have been enchanted meat. "It's… definitely a sandwich."

Raya's sandwich was fiery and flavorful, with an unexpected kick that burned just the right amount. "Mmm, this is actually pretty good," Kaion admitted. "It's spicy, but in a good way."

"So, who wins?" Grin asked, looking between them.

Kaion grinned, wiping his mouth. "You know, I think we all win. But if I had to pick the most powerful sandwich, I'd say mine is the true champion."

Raya laughed. "Oh, come on! That was so basic. It had no flair."

"I don't need flair when I've got power," Kaion said smugly. "And besides, this sandwich gives me confidence. We'll need that when we face off with the Voidbringer!"
