Chapter 1 - Reborn as Krillin

"Ugh, my head hurts!" Colin slowly opened his eyes, taking in the unfamiliar surroundings.

From outside, the cries of seagulls and the sound of waves crashing against the rocks drifted in.

"Where am I?" His head felt foggy as he sat up, his body sore.

"Wait a minute… why are my arms so short?" Alarmed, Colin jumped off the bed, looking down at his shrunken limbs.

"Why am I so small? Everything looks so huge!" Rushing to the mirror, he froze at the reflection staring back at him.

"What the hell?! Who's this short, bald little guy?!" A sharp, stabbing pain suddenly tore through his head, like thousands of needles piercing his mind. Colin collapsed to the floor, clutching his head.

Memories flooded in like an unstoppable tide: training as a bullied child at the Orin Temple, running away in tears to seek the legendary Master Roshi, befriending Goku, eating and training together, growing stronger, fighting in the World Martial Arts Tournament, dying at the hands of Tambourine, and Goku avenging his death… Fragmented scenes pieced themselves together into a coherent story.

Wiping the sweat from his brow, Colin slowly stood up.

"I've been reincarnated into the Dragon Ball world. My name is Colin… but now I've become Krillin!" His tone carried a mix of disbelief and resignation.

He glanced at his small body, utterly disheartened. "I can't even be 155 cm tall. No wonder Android 18 always called me shorty… Speaking of Lazuli, she's a total goddess. And she's got eternal energy! Now that I think about it… being married to her doesn't sound too bad, does it?"

Grinning to himself, Krillin walked outside.

"Wow, it really is an island. I've never been on one before—wait, I mean, in my previous life…"

Not far off, an elderly man lay on a reclining chair, his face obscured by a risqué magazine.

"That must be Master Roshi," Krillin thought.

A warm sense of familiarity and gratitude bubbled up within him. It felt less like a student-teacher bond and more like the relationship between a son and father—a sentiment Krillin chose to keep buried deep in his heart.

The sun was high in the sky when Krillin muttered, "Master Roshi, you shouldn't sunbathe like this. The sun's way too harsh today."

He glanced at his own skin, suddenly worried. "If I get this tan, how's Lazuli going to find me attractive? I need to take better care of myself!"

"Master Roshi, let me move you somewhere with shade." Gently, Krillin shifted Roshi's chair under a coconut tree.

Unbeknownst to Krillin, Roshi had already awakened and heard his mutterings.

"This kid… what a thoughtful boy," Roshi mused silently, feeling gratified.

The fresh ocean breeze invigorated Krillin as he gazed out at the vast, sparkling sea. "The ocean… so much water," he mumbled, unable to articulate his awe.

Krillin ran to the beach, marveling at the golden sand, crashing waves, and circling seagulls. He dove into the water, swimming with ease thanks to his combat power of 100.

Underwater, Krillin admired vibrant coral reefs and schools of fish until a few large, red shrimp darted past him.

"Wow, those look delicious! I'll catch a few and make spicy shrimp for Master Roshi."

But the shrimp were too fast, slipping away every time he approached. Growing frustrated, Krillin decided to try something new.

"You forced me to do this—Kamehameha!"

A feeble splash erupted as the attack fizzled out.

"What?! With a combat power of 100, I can't even fire a decent blast? Something's off here…"

Recalling Master Roshi's lessons, Krillin remembered: achieving harmony between one's energy and body is the key to releasing a proper energy wave.

"Harmony… I've got it!" he exclaimed.

He adopted the Kamehameha stance, focused his energy, and this time, a glowing beam erupted from his palms, propelling him forward.

"Gotcha! You thought you could outrun me?!" Krillin laughed triumphantly, clutching the shrimp.

Gathering a few more, Krillin flew back to the island, albeit at a slow speed.

"Master Roshi, look what I caught!" Krillin shouted, holding up his prize.

Roshi glanced up from his magazine and was surprised. "Big red shrimp? The meat's tough, and they're everywhere in the sea. What a waste of effort."

"Just wait and see, Master! I'll make a meal out of these that'll change your mind."

As Krillin started cooking, he realized something crucial was missing—garlic. Running to the living room, he asked, "Master, do we have that spicy vegetable that comes in cloves?"

Roshi stroked his beard. "Fifty years ago, I planted some on a small island southwest of here. You can go check."

Without hesitation, Krillin flew off, searching through countless islands until, at last, he found the garlic plants. Returning at dusk, he quickly prepared a dish of spicy shrimp that left Roshi in awe.

"Delicious! You've outdone yourself, Krillin!"

Later, as they lounged on the sofa, Roshi casually mentioned, "By the way, the Ox-King stopped by today. Goku and Chi-Chi are getting married in a month. We're invited."

"Goku's getting married? That means it's the year 756… Less than five years until Raditz arrives." Krillin's mood turned somber. "The era of Dragon Ball Z is fast approaching…"

Lying in bed that night, Krillin clenched his fists. "I'm just a human. I'll never reach Goku's level. How can I protect Lazuli and our future daughter?"

Suddenly, a mechanical voice echoed in his mind:

"System activated: The Ultimate Earthling Training Assistant is online."

"Who's there?!"
