Chapter 3 - I hate these 'things'.

This boy who thought of Mike Lorenski was none other than his son, Yohan Lorenski.

He was the only one who believed in him when the rest of the world called him a "maniacal liar."

'DONT FALL THERE!!! STAY ABOVE THE SURFACE!!!'

He took those words to heart. Of course, he would truly believe his father. And so, everyday, he made sure to always stand upright. He always watched his steps whenever he walked. He always watched his surroundings so that he wouldn't bump into anyone. He avoided sport so that no one knocked him down.

As long as he stood upright, he was safe from 'hell', but that doesn't mean he didn't throw himself into harms way.

He dreamt of following his father's footsteps, because to him, he was the coolest person in the world, even when he went crazy.

And so, he went on even crazier adventures. Simply for the sake of being an adventurer. He went through forests, swamps, deserts, temples, you name it.

Yet despite all the risk, he never once fell down. He was more like a cat than an adventurer.

He was truly happy, becoming like his father was a great feeling for him, but he unfortunately followed the whole track.

???: Where... the hell... am I?

Those were the words of the boy, Yohan. When he awoke from his long slumber, he found himself lying flat on his back.

Yohan: Wait... did I fall?

He really needed to know if he fell down because if he did, then his worst nightmare might've come true.

He then felt a pain. This was a bad sort of of pain. Not in the sense that it was extremely painful, but in the sense of where it came from.

To that end, he arched his back, like an old grandma trying to fix any slight pain she has to relieve her back.

Yohan: Aaaaah~ That was good. Wait, I hurt my back...

That didn't seem like a good thing at all

No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No

That train of thought repeated as he constantly rocked his body. He didn't want to believe it.

-Aaaaheerheheeeeeaaaaa

His mental breakdown was immediately interrupted by that sound he heard.

That sound. That distant sound was very strange. Yohan seemed to be the only person there to hear it.

It sounded like a roar

Or maybe a cry or whimper, or maybe even a groan.

He couldn't tell what it was, but worse of all, he couldn't tell--

Yohan: -- What the hell made that sound?

Was it a dog? A cat? No, it couldn't have been

Judging from his environment, there couldn't have been domestic animals in the vicinity.

Come to think of it, he also wasn't even aware of what place he was in.

Yohan: This looks like a forest, but it doesn't seem like it.

There were huge things that looked like leaves, very inordinate ground which has soft and rough surfaces. There were plenty of holes in what seemed to be trees. There were these small things that came out of its holes. They looked like bugs, but were they?

He was so distracted by the unfamiliarity of the place, and the unfamiliar sound playing in the background, that he almost didn't notice the thing crawling up his arm.

It looked like an ant.

Or a cockroach.

Or a cicada.

Yohan couldn't tell. So he just looked at the 'bug'. It looked back at him with very docile eyes. Maybe it was a harmless bug.

Yohan: I guess I should leave it---Hk!

He was terribly wrong. That 'bug' bit into his arm with its tiny mouth and six miniscule fangs. It was like a syringe injecting something into him, or pulling something out. He was so confused by the pain that he couldn't tell.

Whatever that 'bug' used to dig into his skin, it dug deep. Never had he ever felt anymore violated than in that's moment.

Yohan: Get... off!

He managed to launch it off of his hand. In response to his rejection, it hissed back at him, bearing the six fangs of its disgusting mouth.

It was so violent for a puny bug. However, despite it's size, Yohan couldn't overlook the threat it posed.

Squish!

That sound was more disgusting up close. It sounded as if someone was being gagged or choking on a meal. It was paired with the low vibrato sound of a sizzle. When Yohan lifted his foot, all he saw was something far more unrecognizable than the 'bug' that bit him.

Yohan: Motherf*cker.

Now that the threat was dealt with. He had something else to attend to.

Yohan: Well, that's gotta sting.

He took a long look at the hole in his arm. You could say he was more or less bleeding, but it wasn't really simple. Surely, there was blood flowing out of his arm, but there was a green ooze that accompanied it. He couldn't really explain it, but it gave him a bad feeling. Not just mentally, but physically as well. A burning pain in his arm.

"Aaa--"

--Uraaaaaaeeeehhiieioiiieoamm.

Yohans' screams of pain were drowned out that distant sound.

--Ureeaaiiiaighaaiiii

There again. There was that sound, louder than ever. The trouble just wouldn't end.

It sounded like something was approaching him. The leaves that he could hear being trampled on let him know that.

What was approaching him? He couldnt tell.

Yohan: Is it a wolf? Is it a tiger? Heck, maybe it's a dinosaur, for all I care.

He couldn't tell what it was. Maybe because he wasn't paying close attention to the sound, or the way it looked, or maybe it was something else entirely, never seen before by the world.

And if he was being honest, Yohan believed that the thing facing him wasn't a part of the world he knew of.

Something from a world no one knew of. If that were the case, it was likely that only one person knew what that 'thing' approaching him was.

And even though he could see that disgusting four-eyed monster in front of him, it wasn't Yohan who knew what it was.

Because the one who knew wasn't alive to tell the tale.
